  1. Ouch, should just be a couple of new holes to drill, i'll check mine tomorrow.
  2. Snapped off or bent? I managed to repair mine, one of the poles bent so I fashioned a small block of wood the same profile as the oval pole and slowly chapped it up to the bend. Then very carefully straightened it in the vice and gradually formed it back to the original shape.Took ages. Not perfect and sticks a wee bit but still works.
  3. Wishing you a speedy recovery. We can rebuild him. We have the technology. We can make him better than he was. Better, stronger, faster.
  4. Wish I hadn't had those 2 fried eggs with my steak tonight. Feeling a little rumbly. I would opt for 65mm - 75mm myself.
  5. Good looking sheep gone missing in Aberdeenshire??? If the stories are true they are being well looked after.
  6. Glad your up and running Dan. Hope your keeping that workshop clean now you have a shavings making machine!!!

    I am back

There are a lot of chaps and chapesses on here who are wishing you the best. I hope you can take comfort in that and use it for a speedy recovery and can find something new to put your mind to. I don't know you personally but have found your posts a good read and from a different perspective. In my line of work we have a few residents who have suffered strokes in there prime. Some of them have a real no nonsense, **** happens attitude with a good hint of sarcasm. I think you are going to be fine !!. Keep posting.
  8. Joined SNP after the referendum so here's hoping Jim Murphy and co get sent packing.
  9. I've learned my lesson. Don't eat crisps in bed.
  10. I've got to do all the thinking and clever stuff as well and my assistant turns up, takes a wage and doesn't need to think( and has no intention of thinking) so I know where you are coming from. I prefer using the tower to ladders any day of the week, might take a lot longer but I know I am safer. Just thought I would offer you a solution.
  11. Understand where you are coming from. HSS training do the 2 courses and are not bad on price. They are doing one in Leeds on Mar 5 ladder one is in Apr. Hope that helps.
  12. Can you not put him on a PASMA course for the tower and Ladder Association course for ladders then it's up to him surely?
  13. Did you use the tip of the blowtorch for the feather detail? Nice carving!
  14. The carving can be screwed to a tree??? surely not.

    Lathes.

Having a good workspace is a project in itself Dan. While saving for the lathe that you want you can be spending time making jigs for sharpening the turning tools and building adequate storage for all the bits and pieces. cabinets are better than shelves as the dust and shavings won't get everywhere. I put tarps up to cover stuff to limit tidying up time. Being organised gives you more time turning.

    Lathes.

CL3-CAM Professional 5 Speed Lathe This is what i've got Dan. The bowl attachment and your good to go. Mines still bomb proof. Getting back into turning, Been buying some new tools, got the timber just need some me time.
  17. Trick is not to make them look like you keep someones ashes in them. I went through a few designs but wasn't happy with them, very easy to make something naff IME. I ended up turning a wee box to keep all the cards in. Drilled a few holes to thread some ribbon to secure the lid and to seal the box so as not to open it. Had great intentions of pyrography on the outside but by the time the big day arrived I had more important things to do. All that wedding stuff has ended up in a big cardboard box at the moment so I will probably have to get round to finishing it before the first anniversary. One more thing on my to do list after I said I DO. Had a few requests to do this sort of thing and turned them down. Don't need the hassle after doing my own. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=tree+trunk+post+box&rlz=1C1CHFX_en-gbGB488GB488&espv=2&biw=1366&bih=705&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=997oVP69IoPtUq2XgsAI&ved=0CCAQsAQ for some ideas. Cut lid off first then hollow out rest. fix lid back on.
  18. Having problems getting time to sit down and work through the coursework at the moment. Got alot of stuff going on at work and home but i'll get there. The actual coursework is fine, just like to give it my full attention. If you need any more info of the course etc just PM me.
  19. On second lesson of the ABC Arb L2 at HCC at the moment.
  20. Is it the same idea as drilling a hole in the 150. Finally got round to doing that this week instantly noticed the difference.

    Survey

    Done Question 6 spelling.
  22. Always wondered why people couldn't wait to die. Now I know thanks to you , I am eternally grateful Back to the VW it would be good if the sides at the back were a bit higher to make it a more usable space.
  23. When my numbers up i'm hopefully getting a hearse to take me to the big cooker. Think that truck is a bit extravagant for those purposes. Quite like it though but I would probably have to win the lottery to get one. The tool tray at the back is pretty clever.
  24. Had a look in the new catalogue at the dealers. Could be my new favourite carving saw!!!! Backhandle mind!!!
