    Good books...

The book I recommended on page 1 has close up photos of buds and bark as well as other identifyable features. There is also a comparisons with species which are sometimes confused. All in all a good book for £8.50 I have a similar book with line drawings but the colour photos are easier for me.
  3. Yes well it is a bit of a no brainer to alot of people! If you have money then you are probably going to vote Conservative as you will want to carry on accumulating it, buying up other properties and charging high rent to working folk who can't afford to buy a house because the cheaper end of the market is snapped up or worse still take on unemployed tenents and get paid by all of us out there working and paying tax. You will be wanting to pay as little tax as possible and look down on others less fortunate/ less lucky in life. Good luck to you. If you are the working man and stuck in the past then you will probably vote labour as that's traditionally where you have voted for generations. You will have a strong sense of loyalty to the cause which is a good thing but loyalty should work both ways and i'm affraid the labour party haslong sinse lost alot of the values that it originally stood for, particularly the Scottish Labour Party. Good luck you. If you vote Lib dem then all hope is lost IMO They just want to hang on to the coattails of whoever is in power. They have been in coalition with both labour and conservatives now and both times compromised their policies, Tuition fees??? Good luck to you. If you vote UKIP then you are probably fed up with the influx of people coming here and doing our jobs for nowt and have some nostalgic sense of Britishness. I like the idea of having a limit on immigrants and quite like listening to Farage but he made a tit of himself when he was up here last time. And the UK bit of the party name doesn't appeal to me. Good luck to you. If you vote SNP then there is a chance of a progressive change at westminster. Scrapping Trident and using that money to drag this country into the 21st century, getting rid of the HoL along the way. Evolution not revolution. I hope my team wins! To the i'm alright Jack brigade, you can't take your money with you. The gap between rich and poor is widening. That can't be a good thing as through history when this happens you end up with revolutions, re distribution of wealth this way is less than fair to all. Just saw this which I thought was well done. Good books...

Plenty of colour photos for identifying the common trees in Britain in winter. Winter trees: a photographic guide to common trees and shrubs - FSC
  6. :thumbup1:Done, best of luck with the rest of your course.
  7. Candidates would all lose their deposits for starters.
  8. Congratulations Dan. Like that rattle as well!!!
  9. Personally I don't wear Husky lids ( Rimmer from red dwarf springs to mind) If your unsure try them on. You can get spray on hair these days if you want to keep using cheepos. You might want to uprate your ear defenders if you are using a chipper. Hope this helps. I'll be getting a new stihl extreme/expert soon as my 3 years of good service is up.
  10. Well there should be a few tree huggers on here Tom!
  11. Got the ear defenders today. They are branded as a DeltaPlus pit radio. had a quick test. They are actually quite comfortable. The radio and mp3 volume is OK I will be taping up the battery compartment as that is a weak point IMO. Tried them on my Kubota ride on and were fine with the engine running but radio was difficult to hear once the blades were engaged. Hand held leaf blower was fine, think a backpack blower would be pushing it. Overall for around £30 i'm happy enough with them they will be good for pressure washing at the weekends so i can listen to the footie. For mp3 player i think i will just stick to having the ear plugs under my other ear defenders and on my forest lid for strimming. Hope thats useful.
  12. Ripping chains that I have used have come with a warning to only use with a chainsaw mill due to the increased risk of kickback. I have used a 24" bar with ripping chain to block out but I layed the log down horizontally in a position similar to milling for those cuts.

    Pay

How much more responsibility/tricky jobs, are you doing since you last agreed on your wage. This might give you more of a case. All your are asking for is a pay review so there shouldn't be any bad feelings about that from your boss. Good luck.
  14. I've got this bad boy 5.4 Tonne Wire Rope Winch c/w Winch Rope | WRW5400.20 | SafetyLiftinGear i've also got arms like popeye from carrying it about. Planning on getting a 1600kg one with a long wire rope so that's what I would recommend.
  15. Just ordered a pair of these, let y'all know how they are.
  16. Hey Dan have you tried turning a green one thin and sticking in the microwave for a couple of minutes?
  17. I'm no doctor but your family jewels don't look right. Had a delivery left in the general waste wheely bin and the driver even lifted out a black bag and stuffed the package underneath. That was citylink don't think they do deliveries now!
  18. Personally I wouldn't bother taking it out of the workshop. For me it is handy when the chain needs alot of grinding and on the longer chains when milling as well as just getting all the cutters the same length quickly after a dozen or so sharpens with a manual filing kit.(this can be done when I pop back for my lunchbreak) The benefit is the precision of the jig. Using a dremel without some sort of jig would result in a lot of faffing about to get the same results IMO.
  19. Avatars showing. Edit signature and include your website. (which I have just found)
  20. Might have some work for you at a later date to consider. I'll PM you next week with details.
  21. You could stick what kind of stumpgrinder you have on your signature and the areas you cover.
  22. Have you got any vid or photo links? We have a chap who flies round in a microlight every couple of years and then tries to sell us aerial photos of the estate. Hell of a skillful job trying to fly them and take suitable footage as I remember a friend building a RC plane for years (lots of papers delivered) only for him to put it into the ground like a dart on it's first flight.
  23. A wee battery like this. PS1270 Power-Sonic 12v 7Ah Sealed Lead Acid Batteries from The Battery Company
  24. Hollowing Kit?
