  1. And Spuds advice on the oil being the deciding factor has worked for me. I have a hedgetrimmer which stated 25:1 in the manual. It smoked like a kipper before I changed to 50:1 and has been running fine for over a year now. Saves a lot of hassle mixing as well.
  2. Yep agree with you Jon Stihl HP 50:1 on all saws big and small.
  3. You should be well chuffed with that. Very interesting piece. Is it copper wire as that will look even better when it oxidises.

  5. Good post. I have seen this culmination of disasters before from a couple of mates so well done for keeping on going. Best of luck
  6. I think having a reference video section would be a great idea. They could be commented on in a separate dedicated thread and link added to the comment.
  7. OK here goes [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WnBPOVxxuag]Japanese handmade logsplitter tank ??? ????? ??1 - YouTube[/ame]
  8. A section for students/ new starters to the industry with some basic information on progression routes, training requirements, courses. Basic kit etc. I know students should get this info from their course but some feedback from the industry giants on here as well. Review of the most common pieces of kit a bit like like amazon with a star rating system. positive and negative feedback. A long thread on chainsaw trousers can have lots of opposite views so the feedback system means you could skip to the negative opinions to find out what the issues are for example. Separate Stihl and Husky threads, not to mention the other brands available. You could do a list of respected members of certain disciplines such as Spud and co for modding and repair. A list of go to guys (and gals) who agree to help. Calculator for estimating log weights etc. Properties of tree species such as uses and firewood burning stats. Would help the just cut a bit of walnut what's it good for threads? I know alot of this information is floating about on here. Just a few tabs at the top with some collected info similar to the knot and fungi stuff. I don't think the above suggestions will have a negative effect on discussion. It might just reduce a few duplicated threads. IMO the hard work that is put in to the site is very useful and the advice on kit decisions has been invaluable as has the links to the suppliers. Hope that helps.

    Good bye Arbtalk

Been working on that John but I've ran out of chalk
  12. Unbelievable Chris. Of what i have seen on this thread, if I was a youngster I would walk through fire and ice for that opportunity. There's a lot on here rooting for you!!! Best of luck.
  13. Sometimes get a toot from the cars when they throw it out as i'm doing a litter pick. It's the half chewed stuff that is really annoying as it ends up falling out everywhere. I wouldn't rate their fries either as they are never finished. It's not just McD's from personal experience. Sometimes it looks like they can't even grasp the concept of using their hands to eat the food.
  14. +3 on the don't buy one unless you have hooks for hands or want hooks for hands.
  15. I didn't say it was an educated guess!!!! Probably Shanghai if I was really thinking hard.
  16. Just placed an order for one Rob, they look really classy and well made and the 2 chains is a good deal IMO. The Sugi gloves are still going strong!!!! Lost one the other day but managed to locate it after much frantic searching. Now need to get a new jacket as the big whole in the pocket was the culprit.
  17. Kuala Lumpur ?
  18. Great work from the wee dug driving the tractor. Have you done alot of this kind of replanting Stephen? Success rate percentage?
  19. That is very very nice. You have a thing about antlers!!!! you'll need to tell us what you used for the colouring. Lovin the workshop. I take it the door is your creation as well.
  20. It's a wee change having that banner on here. Caught my eye so advert worked. Far far worse stuff that ad men (and women) use to sell stuff. Here's an alternative for anyone upset. I even censored the hairy nips in case offence was caused. I prefer the original though.
  21. But of pressure washing on the tarmac and he would be flushed down the drains. splat.
  22. tea light holder, you could get quite a few round them, would look pretty cool.
  23. Feeler gauge, tacho, piston stop, torx keys, a hoof brush/pick for getting the crud off. bar vice for in the woods, bar dresser, square. Work on the grounds so if I have any problems usually take it back at the next t-break. But try and keep these tools separate from my other tools.
  24. [ame=http://www.amazon.co.uk/BBQ-Branding-Iron/dp/B004RBDKQ4]http://www.amazon.co.uk/BBQ-Branding-Iron/dp/B004RBDKQ4[/ame] not the most creative but could be adapted.
  25. +3 from me too. See Rob D about a good carving bar and chain combo too.
