1. So kinda getting the feeling I should of switched to A's a wile ago 😊
2. See I'm in the same mind with you there, at no point have I ever used a saw behind myself...type a covers all of the front and the Inside...and unsure of the need for rear protection... No no not from a chain saw, I'm just talking general wear and tear
3. Evening all Just browsing on skyland and was having a think, I need some new trousers....now I use hi flex type c, in my opinion very good in the winter not so good in the summer due to how thick they are, now I was wondering who here climbs wearing type a trousers? Because I'm thinking, in terms of comfort type a might be an option, now I know you loose the rear protection, but on examination of my current set, all the damage has been done to the front...and type a seem to protect the main areas, arteries ect What are your thoughts?
4. See I thought that but the boss is convinced it's a sycamore so I just nodded and fired a saw up 👍
5. Just stopped for some lunch and to hide from the rain, dealing with this wind blown sycamore today, not to bad of a job just a long ass drag...happy Friday! 👍
6. It's called atlas tree felling mate... Has to be said mate your selling it to me, just waiting to hear back from them, if I do... I'm ex guards mate so used the **** life haha!
7. It's based In Oslo mate and I'm loving the skiing and chasing girls haha! Iv not done much research but have applied and requested more info, what's appealing is accommodation provide, now I can't imagine it's much but I'm ex military so know how to make the best of a bad situation 😉 But that said it means it's just a case of packing a bag and booking a flight
8. Hi guys, I bet there maybe stuff on here about Norway but can't find anything recent so would like to know what it's like, iv seen a job advertised on arbjobs and considering applying for it... Could you tell me your experiences with Norway as a place to work, live ect, do you need a visa ect? I'm looking to broaden my climbing and my mind a bit, got itchy feet and looking all over the place but Norway sounds like a good shout for 6 months... All Info appreciated
9. Oh and just for the record I take pride in calling myself a tree surgeon 😉👍
10. I'm a bit torn on this one...I would agree having qualifications, well doing courses to gain qualifications can defiantly help with the technical, practical and theory side of the job....I have the standard Cs tickets, and like to think I can do the job to a good standard, climb, prune, dismantle ect and do all this safely...iv never had any complaints from any of my bosses...and feel like I'm progressing everyday...but I think, you do have to have a little something to be able to do our job or be in our trade, iv gained knowledge from working with great climbers, talking to guys on here about techniques ect...and there no qualifications for what iv learnt just through good experiences On the flip side to this, I have worked with guys, who must of found the qualifications at the bottom of a cereal box, I have even refused to work with one guy because although he had his aerial rescue, he was one of the slowest and worst climbers I have ever come across, and for the reason of not feeling happy he was competent to rescue me I refused to work with the lad, showing me that quals are not everything
11. Jasper carrot, removed two large silver birches from his house back when I was a young'un (19) Cracking bloke and kept us fed with tea and biscuits all day
12. Haha I think it could of been a little bigger if I was being fussy dan 😊👍
13. So this mornings job was to take down this wind blow conny, it was being held up by two skinny silver birches, now I was happy that it was relatively stable to climb, I was going to take more off but as I got about three quarters of the way up my groundie pointed out it was moving a lot at the root plate with my weight on it, so I put a rope in it and set up a 3:1 pully system to help pull it off the birches as I felled it from the base
14. stein evo jacket is brilliant! and not a bad price..
15.
hi there, yes i am, but depending on location, where are you based and who do you work for?

16. Hi Sam, I served In the Coldstream guards for 5 years, was in the arb game straight from school, climbing for 3 years and grounding for 1...iv now been back at it 12months and love it even more, iv found a lot of friends leaving the forces have struggled to get work but we are lucky having qualifications to fall back on...anyways, my advise would be look at going back to work for a arb team maybe on the ground and get back to climbing for 12 months, you will be so surprised at how much has changed, I was...but you will pick it up really quick, I'm now looking at a more formal qual just to bulk my cv up with but would Deffo advise getting back with a team first just to find out what's new ect...hope this helps
17. I'm 26 and feel this way already 😉 I have a lot of trouble with my left shoulder at the moment but I do a lot of weight training and play rugby so I'm unsure if it's my social life or my climbing that's causing me the trouble haha
18. Have you ever looked at the snake anchor? Iv been thinking about looking at getting this as a fail safe..at the moment like a few I use a choke system whether it's my main line on it's self or a use a sewn sling with a krab and run my working strop through it, again this is a just in case measure should I slip off the spikes
19. If you have an iPhone you can buy and action sports case for it £100...this is what I'm playing on getting next week, untill I can afford a gopro..check it out...if your anything like me I use my iPhone 5 for everything, uploading vids, pictures to all formats, YouTube ect...and the quality is never too bad...maybe this is a cheaper option 😉
