  1. Cheers joe 👍 considering the state of the tree we was happy with the end result... Yea iv seen that tree mate...very very nice work 👍 might be looking for climbers in the near future so keep an eye out lol
  2. Might be looking for a climber 😉
  3. These are what iv been looking at, there cheaper than the Buckinghams which is what my boss has suggested so he will be happy with that. And they look like they are a lot for comfortable
  4. Guys what's are you opinions on the best spikes on the market at the moment...have a budget of about £280... I'm 6'3 and 15stone, the company I work for has spikes but fully adjusted they don't fit, so the boss has offered to buy me my own set.. Thoughts please 👍
  5. Few snaps from today, awkward ash pollard over a property, doesn't look pretty but is great habitat as its in a wooded area. The second picture is our apprentice out in a limb, he's going to making a cracking climber and has a great attitude towards work 👍
  6. Cheers lee 👍the spec was to go a lot heavier than what we did, but we didn't see the point as there was plenty of growth to work from
  7. Oak reduction from last week, had the mewp on hire during the week so decided to use it on this for speed more than anything as we had to close part of the carriage way...happy with the result considering the poor condition of the tree

    Sketchy job!

Haha love that! On a serious note, I would walk...just on the basis you have no rescue climber...but that's my personal preference
  9. I used to use a treemotion, great light harness, but now climb on a sequoia after trying one out, I'm 6"3 15 stone and it's super comfy, loads of padding on the waist belt and legs and feels good in those awkward positions 👍
  10. That's cool mate. Yea I have done the same mate but don't know any lads that are contracted in and payed £200, I know a guy who is brought in at £220 a day but he provides he's truck and chipper in that cost aswell
  11. Yea sorry my example is for self employed rate
  12. This is by no means a dig at anyone, but I would genuinely like to see what a £200 a day climber looks like in the tree and doing the job, I have worked with some, in my opinion, great climbers, guys iv looked at and thought I'm not even close to there standard and there only just about getting away with 150 a day. Thing is, and this is just in my experience, people don't want to pay that for a climber, iv had a guy drop me (£100 a day) and use someone else (£60 a day) because he was cheaper, that's was the only reason...he had less experience ect ect but the lad didn't want to spend the money
  13. Mate it's nice to finally be somewhere that has a decent chipper, our tracked chipper is a weapon lol
  14. Exactly mate, although the big stuff is fun and good for pictures 😊 in this heat I know I don't want to be on them everyday lol. You work for AC old don't you?
  15. That's the thing mate it's not, because rugby has so much green space and parks, it mixes up each week, I would say it's about 60/40, but it's nice because the big jobs get broken up with nice easy little jobs if that makes sense
  16. Totally agree on the each to there own, it's cheap enough to by so play around with it 👍
  17. Yea there now running two teams mate so 6 of us in all. Don't get me wrong mate, I enjoyed parts of being self employed, but there's also alot of cons to it, in my honest opinion. It wasn't for me..just yet, even with my experience I struggled finding work, it seems a lot of people are now doing the self employed route. So it's becoming a lot more competitive on day rate ect
  18. Iv worked all over mate, mainly birmingham area, seems to be where most the work is. I climb on a HC but there happy for you to climb on what ever you want, one lad climbs on a SJ
  19. Haha jammy you know where..
  20. 21k a year, after tax £1400 a month which is £70 a day as a climber, don't sound much when your talking about 150 a day...and iv just gone from self employed to on the books. Self employed I was on £120 a day. That being said, the company has just brought me 2k worth of kit, PPE, harness, ropes ect ect, iv just passed my stump grinder course (payed for) and I'm on my CS 41 (payed for) in September, followed by mewp. Start at 8 finish at 4, and 330 on a Friday, work 5 days a week and if I want to top my money up I climb at weekends for anyone one who needs me...day rate isn't everything, I like the benefits of guaranteed work and nice working hours. No late finishes for me or long drives to site. Each to there own I suppose 👍
  21. In my experience 10mm is pants mate, doesn't hold aswell as 8mm
  22. Lol that might of been us, been on the limes for the last 3 weeks lol
  23. I'll let you know if anything comes up mate, great place to work, hours are good aswell, no late finishes Monday to Thursday 8-4 than 330 finish on a Friday 👍 lol
  24. Yea she was a beast mate, hardest part was getting the timber out, filled the 7nhalf a few times lol. Yea it's good mate, I went from self employed to the council, pay is good, and you get looked after, have only been there 6 weeks but did my stumpy course last week and on my 41 next month, all payed for ofcourse
