  1. Hi there david, I am also in the process of starting up on my own, have been in the industry 5 years with 5 years in the military too. Iv brought myself a pick up truck which I'm building a box for and have all my climbing gear, Iv registered the company now so it's a ltd company and plan to sort out a business bank account and website in the next few weeks, this weekend is all about getting insurance quotes. As a lot of guys on here will say, it won't happen over night, but you just need to set your self small goals to achieve each month and it will come mate, I'm not trading yet but want to be in a position to start advertising buy the end of feb ready to book work in for March. All the best mate and good luck for the future

  9. Iv just brought this (two weeks ago) and can't fault it mate, payed 4500 for it with an extensive service history, that's what I would be looking for with your budget, personally I would go l200 but what ever you get with that budget make sure it's got a good service record 👍

    Bottled it!

Mate when I was subbing I went out to a job, big multi stem sycamore to reduce, the tree it self was a pain as it had no centre so would of ment re anchoring a few times, big leggy thing with nothing to climb on, the tree it's self wasn't the issue, I didn't do the work because on the day, it was heavy rain, there was no first aid kit in the truck and the groundsman said to me that he's not climbed for 5 years and "didn't think he could rescue me" I walked away from that job because all I could think was if its going to go wrong it's going to be on a day like today... All that said they boss was very understanding and we did it a few days later in the sun with him climbing and me being his rescuer, some bosses will listen to you, others just want the work done
  13. Guys I just need a broad idea of how much I might be looking to pay for PL, I'm trying to set up my own business, just weekend work to start but still want to be covered and be able to say and show potential clients that's I am insured. Can anyone give me a rough idea what it may cost me for PL, and EL, I'm just talking broad figures here as its something I'm looking into in the new year... Just as an idea it's going to be me and one other, my pick up, a chipper and minimal kit saws ect...I get tool cover through my truck insurance but may look at that aswell if I can get a deal on the full package Any info greatly recived

  22. We took a chestnut down today...it had been absolutely hammered in the past! Not live centre to it just dead up rights which made anchor point selection tricky..picture doesn't do it justice but this thing was shot! From the base up, and purely because of how badly/hard it had been pruned in the past..
  23. I hear there's no need to use a laptop with the new hero3 as you can sync it to the go pro app on your iPad/iPhone for editing and uploading to social media ect This true and easy to use?
