  1. From today's BBC website: Italian police say they have arrested 15 Muslim migrants after they allegedly threw 12 Christians overboard following a row on a boat heading to Italy. The 15 Muslim migrants involved in the row with Christians were arrested in the Sicilian city of Palermo and charged with "multiple aggravated murder motivated by religious hate". The suspects, who are from the Ivory Coast, Senegal, Mali and Guinea, were among 105 migrants travelling in an inflatable boat that left Libya on Tuesday. Eyewitnesses told police how the altercation resulted in Christians being thrown overboard, and that some of the survivors had formed human chains to avoid a similar fate.
  2. Or too many people
  3. I just fitted new av spring to rear handle, lot heavier than the original. Unless the spring is broken I don't think you can't get the inner screw out
  4. Haven't seen a lot of crackers working but the screw very much needs an operator who knows what he's doing. Better on digger than forwarder, screw into end opening it up then pull jib in with butt braced against blade or log across tracks. Spend some time on youtube and you'll see quite a few working
  5. Yes interesting, thanks for posting link
  6. £46 p/t for oversized oak is under market price? Whereabouts are you and what price is processor sized material making?
  7. A Makeri from memory, nineteen eighties I think. They never really took off, presumably due to limited reach and the rapid advancements in harvesting technology happening at the time.
  8. That's interesting info Wills but with so many customers demanding FSC certified and sawmills locked into the 70/30 ratio of FSC/non FSC I don't see any way around it currently. The FSC scheme is being reformed but not for a year or so.
  9. FSC in the UK is a total pain in the arse, given illegal felling in UK is negligible and coupled with an all encompassing felling licence process it's simply not necessary. If you like I can pm contact details for UK FSC chap who will be able to give you accurate info
  10. That's exactly what I was getting at Daniel. Take them on and either get a kicking or dish one out and bear in mind that you need to drop them to extent they can't get back up again while you're dealing with the others... So then there's consequences for that with the thieving scum now perceived as the victim. Alternatively call the police and even if they catch them nothing will be done. It's a lose, lose, lose situation for the law abiding working citizen
  11. They were caught doing that in field near here, apparently it's so they can feel the identifying signal when they come back at night. Incidentally the ones caught doing this claimed couldn't speak English when challenged. As per my post on the forest machine attempted theft/operator assault - how much of this continual thievery are we supposed to put up with?
  12. I think if I was in that situation and outnumbered three to one I'd phone in all details to colleagues/police and block road if possible rather than confront them. Hope operator's not been too badly hurt. Wonder what they were planning to do with machine as not exactly easy to move on, possibly remove parts off it? When is plant and machinery theft going to be regarded seriously by authorities, I'd like repeat offenders to be hung, that would send clear signal regarding what society will not tolerate.
  13. Not at all, if Alycidon is correct then two completely different things... Your combined weight can physically be under 3.5t gtw limit but if plate on trailer says 3.5t then you're in breach of regs. Your car is equally capable of breaching regs at any time (speed limit in this case) but as long as you're not actually speeding then you're still legal.
  14. Could be any number things but possibly Pipe/connection from steering and only leaking when under load. Try to get as much visibility as possible by whatever means then getting someone to watch while you use all the functions.
  15. Thanks for clarification Alycidon. Doesn't really make sense though, after all most people have a car capable of exceeding 100mph yet the speed limit is at most 70mph
  16. Do you need tacho if gross train weight less than 3.5t?
  17. Quite a bang when this went off, fireworks for about 5 minutes before something finally tripped.

    550xpg

I've used both our 560s last few days. Both are great saws but one consistently has a millisecond bog before hitting top revs from idle, the other screams right away
  19. They're somewhere in region of 11t I think Edit: they're heavier, brochure for my Lokomo says it weighs 11t. The osa is definitely heavier as along with visibly being bigger the lorry which moves them both feels the difference
  20. I just see a tree which pictures show is too near the road and has grown over the kerb, as a result it's now encroaching onto the road and has suffered repeated vehicle impacts resulting in damage from ground level to maybe 10 feet. Do you really need to do assessments to realise that the tree is going to continue to suffer from impacts unless either the road layout is changed or the tree is removed? 10 Bears - you may (or may not) know your stuff but it was really the condescending tone of your post which I was alluding to.
  21. For goodness sake get a grip man
  22. Fell it and replant slightly different location if possible. LA's don't have money to keep maintaining and inspecting a tree that's been battered and will continue to be so
  23. I remember couple getting stuck on forest road and local garage trying to pull them out, we arrived with tractor by chance and couldn't understand why the recovery truck couldn't pull them out. Closer look revealed car was trying to go forwards as truck was trying to pull it backwards!
  24. The cab of my forwarder gets quite warm on sunny days so was thinking of replacing the solar blinds in it, the dealer however says they costs £1,000 plus and just to tint the windows. Has anyone tinted windows and does it work well? I'm looking to reduce glare and sun penetration but still want to be able to see on a gloomy morning. Thanks in advance
  25. It was slightly strange here, sun was shining brightly but then got like dusk but more blueish, once that passed it reverted to to warm and sunny again.
