  1. All but the last one. Always thought he was a smarmy lying git. Ooh and didn't have to buy the porno's as there were plenty chucked into our hedges to peruse
  2. If you send me a picture of one of the blades I will go out and eyeball the grinder to see if it could do it.
  3. 5 degrees for a blade? You sure as thats way finer than any edge I have ever seen on any machine blade.
  4. I have one of the grinders. Never sharpened chipper blades on mine as mainly used for chisels and plane blades. They are not especially fast but leaves a great edge.
  5. It's a great album and never far from hand
  6. Done 120 cube for next season for us and getting busy cutting for others at the moment. Did a complete lorry load (18T) of awkward oak in the peeing rain yesterday of long logs for biomass so speeds things along. Best thing about the day was the loader the guys had which was a Gehl 340. Know I am hankering after one as it was the perfect machine for the job.
  7. Working on a farm yesterday and they had one of these http://www.hessle.co.uk/product.cfm?productid=73 . What a piece of kit and made moving large sections of a oak a doddle. Anyone any views on the Gehl machines?
  8. Just came across this picture in my files. Think it was all mainly fresh beech so a bit heavier than ash
  9. Dont think we had that much snow but boy did it drift. Then freezing rain today
  10. Bad enough down here with 5 foot drifts in places. Glad you made it back OK
  11. Thanks all. OK so it sounds like a plan and Matt I may take you up on the offer. Heard you had a bit of an epic getting back in the Blizzard
  12. Got a pile of smallish jobs for a digger here but most are weather dependant so tricky to book someone in for a dry period. Wondering about buying a SH machine and doing all the little jobs over the next year and then selling it on. Not sure how big a machine to get and how much to spend (presuming paying a fair price) to loose as little as possible. Dont need anything dinky so 2-3 tonne would be fine for the jobs at hand. Any guidance much appreciated.
  13. Guess it's regional. Not once had a complaint about loose loads and never seen anyone doing bagged loads in these parts. Long may it stay that way
  14. Just glorious weather. No rain and hard frost has hardened up the ground for the first time in six months. Thermometer says it's cold but with little wind and dry air it's very pleasant working outside
  15. Depends where you live Did a delivery the other day where I had to climb out through the window to get to the back of the pickup! Tried a trailer here but it was a complete nightmare. Single cab with greedy boards takes a couple of cube.
  16. Reckon your grass will be very grateful . Hope the mower is OK
  17. Sun is lovely but feels like the depths of winter here. The ice has not thawed in the shade all day and the strong easterly wind is biting. Cut the grass with temperatures forecast to be sub zero day and night and snow/blizzard predicted for the end of the coming week?
  18. Filter arrived today and it works a treat if a bit slow with red mixed with water haha. With tank tilted back have filtered 20litres but still getting some water coming out!
  19. As said you are looking at around 500kg including crate. Our 55hp compact can only just handle a cube of wet logs and has had to have some repairs to the front axles due to overloading. Think you are just asking too much of a 30hp machine. Probably not what you want to hear.
  20. I swapped to full chisel due the speed and ease of cut. Hand operated cutting so you really notice the difference but yes it does not last as long between sharpens
  21. What chain are you using? Saw someone complaining of rapid bar ware using one of Rotatech chains.
  22. We have an old Stiga Multiclip. It's been pretty much indestructible with aly deck and Briggs engine. Cost £200 SH many years ago and just soldiers on in spite of some brutal work clearing bramble thickets. In Liz's hands it's know as the plough Not convinced that mulching for such a wet area was such a great plan though. Mulching feeds the grass and combined with wet summers it grows so fast you need to be cutting more than once a week to keep it looking nice. End up cutting in the rain or just letting it go at times.
  23. Looking at the charts for next week and it's looking seriously cold of the like we have not seen for many a moon. Think it's going to come as bit of a shock for us southern softies where serious winter conditions have become a rarity
  24. This
  25. Yep pretty much the plan. Thanks all
