Filter arrived today and it works a treat if a bit slow with red mixed with water haha. With tank tilted back have filtered 20litres but still getting some water coming out!

As said you are looking at around 500kg including crate. Our 55hp compact can only just handle a cube of wet logs and has had to have some repairs to the front axles due to overloading. Think you are just asking too much of a 30hp machine. Probably not what you want to hear.

I swapped to full chisel due the speed and ease of cut. Hand operated cutting so you really notice the difference but yes it does not last as long between sharpens

What chain are you using? Saw someone complaining of rapid bar ware using one of Rotatech chains.

We have an old Stiga Multiclip. It's been pretty much indestructible with aly deck and Briggs engine. Cost £200 SH many years ago and just soldiers on in spite of some brutal work clearing bramble thickets. In Liz's hands it's know as the plough Not convinced that mulching for such a wet area was such a great plan though. Mulching feeds the grass and combined with wet summers it grows so fast you need to be cutting more than once a week to keep it looking nice. End up cutting in the rain or just letting it go at times.

Looking at the charts for next week and it's looking seriously cold of the like we have not seen for many a moon. Think it's going to come as bit of a shock for us southern softies where serious winter conditions have become a rarity

Thing is I have tilted the tank so the outlet is now at the bottom but getting a mix of water and diesel coming out. Bit confused why it's not one or the other.

Somehow large quantities of water have got into our diesel tank and we need get rid of the water. Is it best to syphon the diesel off the top? If so any recommends on syphons? Just ran off a litre from the outlet which is at the bottom of the tank and 1/5 was water! All discovered after killing the forklift which has not yet been revived. Thanks

I have a few other contacts but not tied them and was using Euro as they were proving the most reliable. Like to buy straight from an estate when possible

Yes Euro were straight with us saying they have to supply their big customers first. Plenty to get on with here anyway but hope they can get around getting us some loads in the not too distant future.

Yes I have cut a third of next years stocks. People sound surprised that we cant magic dry logs out of thin air. Yes we will just process that dry roundwood that came with a free unicorn

Does the peak of regular helmet not protect against kick back? Seem to remember being taught this many moons ago.

Remembered one that I have seen mentioned as pretty good by Renewable John on here. The Yorkshire Dunsley. Think he heats a lot of his house with his and he was pretty happy with it last time I saw him.

The later. No personal experience but plenty of second hand. Rarely met anyone truly happy with their boiler stove but heard about plenty of problems. Running water through the back of the firebox inevitably cools the firebox temperatures resulting in a dirty and less efficient burn. There are one or two expensive models where the heat is extracted after the combustion chamber and these may well work better. Like these but boy does it come at a price http://www.walltherm.ca/

Completely agree but there is one gem around at the moment. Not fall around laughing but great light subtle English humour the Detectorists is superb. Needs to be watched as a series to get all the in jokes.

Naturally drying cordwood down to 20% March to Nov???

Not even close here Can just get our cut and split logs down to 20% in that time. Did process some dry cord for a client the other day and in all honesty it's the only dry cord I have ever seen. It had been there 3 years on a great site facing south, free drainage and very windy. Also had a the top of the stack covered. -
It appears to have medullary rays. Oak is the obvious choice but I am wondering if it's beech that has discoloured. Had beech roundwood go that colour when it's sat around for a bit

Seems an odd one but dont think anything has matched catching my first Salmon. I watched it follow and take the fly, then spent 15min playing it in. Only about 16 at the time and I still feel excited thinking back to it now. Just the smell of a river in spate can get my heart racing. For adrenaline filled excitement it would be windsurfing out on the open water and in rough weather. A combination of excitement and terror at times. One memorable day was some years ago having dropped my sail in the middle of the Camel estuary with large fishing boat bearing down on me. Due to the swell the guy had little chance of seeing me floundering in the water. Had to water start (using the sail to lift you out the water) hastily having recently acquired the skill but in much quieter conditions. Amazing how fear can focus the mind and got up and out the way in time.
