  1. Price! I get through 16-17 litres on a busy day so that would be around £70. From what I can work out gas is going to cost around £16 a day
  2. Might be feasible. Thanks
  3. No problem with fuel density when working from home but might switch back to petrol when doing contract work The Gear GB kits instruction do recommend the larger tanks to avoid over cooling but should be fine with the 47kg tanks apparently. Also its the cheapest bottled way to buy it. Good to hear
  4. I run my business on a personal account so no charges. Every few years they call me in and say I must get a business account. I say if I have to open a new account I will shop around then it goes quiet for a few more years. Only a sole traded but this has worked for 30 years so far
  5. Here you go LPG Kits | Honda Engines and Generators | Gear GB WWW.GEARGB.CO.UK LPG Kits | Honda Engines and Generators | Gear GB
  6. Getting a bit fed up the fumes from my GSX390 Honda on processor. I have been looking at ways to improve this some of which get bonkers expensive like electric motors run of a generator. Then a chap in the local hire place says just run it on propane. Seems that its a very cheap conversion and cheaper to run. Anyone done this and what are the drawbacks?
  7. A COP of 5 would be very good but I guess newer models with scroll compressors might do that well. COP is very dependant on the temperature lift you require. A badly insulated house with rads might require high temps so poor COP and properties like this are where the horror stories come from. This page explains it far better than I can What is the COP? - John Cantor Heat Pumps HEATPUMPS.CO.UK The energy efficiency of a boiler is usually quoted in percentage terms. e.g. If a boiler is said to be 90% efficienct, then 90% of...
  8. Split asap IMO. Ash is slow to dry so sooner you get it all cut and split the quicker it will dry

It was PC pony with no genitalia ? Things I did notice was the blank just left the legs and hooves in profile but 2D not 3D I added some extra fill out the knees and a full hoof with a frog carved into the bottom
  10. I thought the same but apparently this is not the case

Na 80 grit ? I did make one many moons ago but cheated by buying a wooden blank from some maker in Cornwall. He was selling a large mahogany blank all made up for little more than the cost of the wood! I had never carved before but something so big was quite a good way to learn. There is so much excess wood to remove you get the feel for it before you get to the critical bits. Next door kept ponies and I would pop over and study them then then come back and cut more bits off.
  12. But that is presumably the idea with mixing it with natural gas. We already have the storage infrastructure in place. Whats your take on the best storage of energy?
  13. I would of thought the idea with Hydrogen is when we have an excess of renewable energy (which has happened a few times lately and will only happen more) the excess can be used to split hydrogen from water. Why not use what is basically free energy
  14. Expensive to instal well yes relatively but ours wasn't anything like the figures you hear banded around these days. When we first had our GSHP I worked out in the summer we were using 2.38 kWh a day for hot water. At 15P per kWh thats just 35p a day
  15. Well insulated yes but age does not matter. Our GSHP is in a 200 year old barn with IWI.
  16. Not a million miles away by the looks of it. Image below from government figures and quick google suggests 85% of heating is provided by gas

Take large lump of wood and remove everything that does not look like a horse. Sand and finish
  18. Look very like ebony
  19. If it's on contract jobs try to set up that you know the chips will be blown away from you but not always possible. I might ask why is dust the problem? A processor should be making chips which tend to be ruled by gravity unless the wood is very dry or gone over.
  20. I wonder if both problems are related to it being double sided? The single sided ones I have used dont suffer any problems with low baffle plates but needing to open both sides might require an unusual design solution. Also the regular models have insulation on the back which would aid it warming itself and the flue to get it drawing quickly. Shame you are having problems. Might be worth giving them a call?
  21. As for logs we get through around 6m3 a year. We use a GSHP for background heating and top up the with the wood burner. Mainly burn ugly stuff or gone over logs that we wouldn't sell
  22. I just find it hard to believe a steel box from Champion stoves can perform better or are they more sophisticated than they look?
  23. Sounds like it's not working right J. The Woodwarm's are about as good as they get IME. My folks had a 12kw one which was beast of a thing and chucked out the heat.
  24. That wind has its upside
  25. Might be within it's weight limit but it must be breaking some sort of rule ?
