  1. I am going to follow the Doctor's advice Tom
  2. Not sure Tom. This thing on my face only popped up with my change of work to outside. Sun seems to be the likely cause.
  3. Good to bring this to our attention Until recently my work was predominantly indoor based but spent the last 3 years spending far more of my days working outside. We are up on Dartmoor which is about as cloudy as you get in England. Recently had to have an anomaly removed from my face. The Doc asked if I spent years abroad or holidayed in the sun which I have never done but even here the sun's rays can do their damage much to my surprise I might add. Now slap on the factor 40.
  4. Looks like it plus a bit of olive ash there in the middle. Nice board
  5. Got mine from MC Kingston off Ebay. Came well recommended on here.
  6. Care to explain why? What have you found that's better?
  7. A fair old gap then Tom. Probably best that way around than having too much carp in the load.
  8. Wanting to make up a screen for clearing all the little bits from the processor but not sure how far apart to put the rails. What do you reckon
  9. We buy the odd 25 litres can for around the farm. Lots of farm stores stock it now. Not tried the Creocote but heard others say it's not a patch on the original. Would have thought there is still a good market for it as to my knowledge nothing else comes close to original Creosote's preservative. Lots of folk still don't know it's back on the shelves.
  10. This chap thinks it's the bee's knees. Not recommended for those that find religion offensive [ame] [/ame]
  11. I would be impressed if their machine handled it. I am not impressed with straight wood going through machines as basically they can all do that. Awkward twisty stuff has been the reality of processing for me and those I process for bar the odd exceptional load.
  12. Best demo I saw at the last APF
  13. Just an observation from a couple of shows but I thought the Posch models were a bit slow. From videos the Tajfun looks way quicker. Sure you would have to sharpen the blades but that's 10-20 mins at the end of the day but if it saved a couple hours who cares. Problem with all demos is they are always processing gun barrel straight wood the likes of which I have never seen. Time is lost in the processing of less than perfect material. Amazed you guys have had such good experience with Wilsons. The Posch splitter was on my shortlist but they needed endless hasling to get back to me with info so gave up on them in the end.
  14. No more for most of the burn but I chucked a bit on about 30mins from the end to finish it off. Still not quite sure how best to do it but this looks like the best batch yet. Openspaceman mention quite high temperatures were good somewhere on here so we made sure the flames were fierce for the burn. The charcoal from this batch seem a bit harder than some of my slower cooked burns. Not cooked with yet though.
  15. Just a little update. Sales are slow but the retort still works fine. Did a batch yesterday and made a new short video. I am no Metsaman with a camera but you should get the idea of how it all works. [ame] [/ame]
  16. Fabricated steel John. It's probably 20 years old and still looks like new. Not used all the time though but honestly can't fault it.
  17. Would happily second that. My folks have the 16 kWh Woodwarm fireview and it is the best stove I have ever used.
  18. First is much like first ie a bit high. If you have lots of space a very skilled backer and want to go fast it will be fine but if wanting to take it easy into tight space you want go slower. Options slip the clutch in high or low ratio with the diff issues. Plenty of power it's just the delivery that's tricky.
  19. One more thing. Stupid positioning of the number plate directly behind the hitch. When backing up to trailer you have to very careful not to overshoot or the number plate gets it. Many pickups especially the older ones have a metal bumper and number plate up and out the way. Wish I had looked more closely at the alternatives instead of getting hung up on the 3.5 tonne tow capacity that I will probably never need.
  20. Good points. Not noticed any problems with fuel getting into the oil and I do a bit of pootling. Never had the DPF light go on. It goes like the clappers in reasonable comfort and tows very well at speed and on the flat. Surprisingly good off road Bad points. Disappointed with poor fuel economy and high gearing. Almost Never get over 30mpg however it's driven. For a supposed combined figure of 37 or 38 mpg seems to miss the mark by some distance. The high gearing takes a bit of adapting to after a Defender. If using the Dmax as a car it's not an issue but start slow maneuvering with load up and it's a pain. You can drop down into Low box but then the difflock kicks in and you get wind up between the front and rear axle. Not a problem on loose gravel or fields when the wheels can slip but backing a load of logs up a steep tarmac drive you can feel the torque windup on the transmission. Not driven any of the other pickups. Previous vehicle was Defender 90
  21. Agreed. Do you think us Arbtalkers could compile an accurate one? Might start a new thread
  22. Probably worth talking to your BCO they can be pretty helpful and knowledgeable. I know ours happened to be qualified to grade timber as I used ungraded timber for our roof.
  23. Well I got a pair of the Ripeur 2's. On the plus side they are quite supple and comfy. On the down side the cuffs are too short and wrists have got nicely mauled by the brambles. Also got stabbed a few times by the bramble thorns through the fingers. Bit disappointed for the price to be honest but not tried them out on hawthorn and blackthorn yet.
  24. Yes I did buy it a couple years back.
  25. Zero odours? It stinks. Gave up on it one day hedge laying as the air was so still. Honestly find the smell sickly but my machines love it.
