  1. Is it this company that do a cheap tow behind splitter?
  2. and back home in time for tea and medals! nice touch with the logs mate
  3. Isn't it great when a job is unexpectedly made easier, touch! I'd say £200 is about right for a stump that size
  4. I was audited on site yesterday and by chance my harness was 5yrs old to the day (21-01-08).
  5. I thought that it is recommended to replace after 5 yrs not enforceable (unless of course it does not meet loler). If its in tip top condition I can't see a problem.
  6. Whilst I completely agree that £60 a day is not great for a relatively inexperienced s/e climber to be earning, we all need to gain our experience somewhere. If you are gaining valuable experience and training (I don't know if you are or not), then £60 a day for a year or 2 is not so bad, if it can cover your expenses and give you a little social money (i'm sure more expendible finances than a student may have say) and when you are up to scratch you can reap the rewards later. There are many many threads on here from people crying out for work. £60 a day is better than £0 a day, for the time being at least. If you have been on £60 a day since you started with this company, then I would not think it be unreasonable to at least ask for £70.
  7. regarding cost, a second hand chainsaw shouldn't cost you alot and save you alot of time.
  8. What vehicle has SB got up fo sale jon?
  9. Absolutely agree andy. The way some companies run now (mostly larger ones) is totally ludicrous.
  10. Sounds like the jameson ones that you saw. But as CTS said, i'd recommend the AUS ones also. You cans get a silky saw head for them too or the bacho saw head is ok for half the price but not as good as the silky.
  11. I reckon a turner would like the head of that tree.
  12. Not mine mate. I've got my eye out for a cheap compact tractor with loader mate.
  13. Looking at the number plate, I believe this one was first registered in Yeovil.
  14. i would suggest £4k is a bit steep, but without seeig the condition it is difficult to tell. A good budget/starter chipper though
  15. Do you know the relevence of the years on the yew trees Paul?
  16. I think you'd be sad to see the audi go jon, but you'd love the landy! I'm not much of a landy fan, but i'm thinking of something similar.
  17. I use this system alot using the tail of my climbing rope. So quick and easy when there is not loads to lower
  18. Its a 2 wheel drive Ford, can't remember the model (1986/87). Trying to remember now, but I think we thought their was about 8 tons on there. The guy made that timber trailer out of an arctic lorry trailer.
  19. haha, good haulage rates if you want a net of logs, pint of milk and a paper. No, i'm not mocking the smarts, good little motors. We got a little hyundai getz, brilliant little run around and has been known to come to work more than once.
  20. your leagues ahead of the rest of us jon, different gravy mate:001_tt2:happy new year bud:thumbup:
  21. Some people seem to have this idea of working up through vehicles until they get to their ideal motor. If you can afford it get it to start with
  22. whats the point messin about stickin brash in a van, as redmf said, why not get a tipper straight away. if its cos of cost, get any type of pick up, way better for tree work than any van.
