  1. often late out Ash
  2. nice to see the pulling line nice and high
  3. don't ever feel pressured to speed up - it will come in time. if you are considering a big limb take down - think it through before you do it and if in doubt do it smaller.
  4. the fruiting body of fungi in trees is often just the tip of the iceberg so to speak. The fungi has probably been establishing itself in the tree for many years, when its established its self enough, it will often produce fruiting bodies to try and colonize new areas.
  5. were the roots dry when they were planted, and were the roots covered from nursery to planting site. its a reason why some fail.
  6. oyster fungi, omnivores , trapping nematodes - fantastic
  7. well done Pete
  8. a well used path - well I supposed that's clinched it - hope they plant a nice single stemmed replacement then

  10. cant it wait 2 months until the birds have flown - depends how lodged it is I suppose
  11. Have you never had a near miss? If not you will. I have had 2 in 25 yrs, this guy was unlucky, its gone one step further.
  12. I will plump for catalpa (indian bean tree)
  13. 3 strikes and your out for me too
  14. I would say it was a defence mechanism - on a leaning tree if no reaction wood - tree fails at roots.
  15. all above - that's all it could be
  16. DOH - sinker hook line (not necessarily in that order)
  17. sorry Will I should of said TOMMY
  18. you were right not to do the other side
  19. Will to be honest - its a terrible job. If you want to get a lot of work you have to learn how to do a good job. When you have done this you will get recommended by customers who have used you. If you have a professional attitude get to collage and learn how to do the job properly. .
  20. looks great and not overdone
  21. I cant see it making into maturity personally - I would take some weight out of it and keep it in check.
  22. if your using a flip line - when moving down the trunk, make sure your line doesn't get stuck on a peg on the blind side
  23. 100mph is enough to bring down healthy trees
  24. Tristan, I would be interested to know why the root plate was moving in the first place - girdling root system? - waterlogged ground? - surrounding - trees removed? - all mentioned could justify the guying, I wouldn't bother if its root decay Reg Paul
