  1. why not run brake pipe pipes like on a car or have high pressure pipes made yes may cost but in long run keeps all greased and saves time
  2. cud knock a pencil drawing up if ya still dont get it
  3. no picture used when worked for other contractors but if ya have a trailer with tracked chipper on and the door is the loading door ie high back door use that as a load up ramp so by time ya get to hopper ya at same hieght as you would be on floor and depending if road on a slope etc ya may choose to raise the outer edge of the load door to make it easier obviously this means a 6 -10 inch step up but defo acheivable and chipper stays on trailerand most should still shoot on to van as its a little higher than being on the floor
  4. have a high drop down back door on trailer ie 6ft plus and use it as a ramp and also cud raise edge 5 or 6 inches making drop down door nearly level so its like feeding chipper from floor
  5. perhaps some pictures of trailer n van and chipper etc would help us all to understand the big problem you are having etc as its so much easier with pics TIA
  6. if you want trialer at that level and dont want to lower towbar and dont want to change trailer then only way i can see is raise the A Frame of the Trailer where tow hutch is BUT this have to be of approved alteration by approved firm etc and that could cost maybe more than different trailer and longer ramps to get machine on as they say choice is yours lol
  7. may sound silly but what about just getting a trailer to match the truck and sit level use ramps to make it not as steep for chipper but if small chipper surely cant weight much and cud also use a small winch to pull it up surely cant cost too much and you would be able to sell orignal trailer and put towards cost of correct one ?
  8. every time i order items which can be varied they are delivered quick and have it in stock never had problems with them
  9. ive used loads of things i do same as you now dont use anything just stein spike bag
  10. sounds fuel starvation prob clean fuel filter and clean carb and wont hurt to change spark plug
  11. try undoing tank cap and then redo an start mine was acting up a bit but did this and starts every time me thinking pressure etc
  12. ive seen it done many times and ive even done so my self when it did not matter why it landed no targets etc its happens more when you are felling just with wedges you effectively lift the trunk up which can snap it off the hindge it dose happen quicker when people dont leave enough hindge or dont make a big enough gob as they say it may not have happened to you or you may not have seen it but as i said ive seen this many time when people trying to rush and also more often when not used in conjunction with a pulling rope
  13. typos lol ive seen people using high lift wedges etc and hitting them to hard too fast and snap the trunk of the hindge and it going sidewards instead of tap tap tap wait a second tap tap etc and etc some just go whack whack whack
  14. a lot of insurance companies dont ask what ya got and quals etc untill it goes wrong YEs its totally wrong as they taking money and prob not paying out re Quals its industry standard and HSE and NPTC that should be suitable qualified i think this is why the insurance co have asked and sooner or later im sure they will ask who did task and what quals and training they had prob even ask for method statement and safe working method as it looks like its gonna cost insurance co if they pay out all insurnace cos should ask for quals first and then insure person company etc to the quals and adjust premium accordingly its not a nice situation to be in be very interested how it pans out only thing i could see if he knew someone who had such qual that would say he was there maybe not doing job but supervising it but they could then say due to size and complexity that the CS32 man should have done it and then they will get on to why rock it why was not more than manpower used ie van etc ven with redirect and ive also seen people doing this and really hammering big wedges in too fasty and snapping off hindge in end i wish this person well and once he dose cs32 in future he will have that qual and no doubt he will learn a lot about medium / large trees i still think that there should be small medium and large tree element in 3 seperate quals as the loads and elements you have to take in to account from torsion value etc from medium to large is vast and should not be 1 qual should be do small then do medium then do large i did mine this way and gave me a very good insight into why and what etc
  15. following this as be interseting if we do get to find out what insurance company will do
  16. i think the insurance may not pay out due to Qulifications and work method etc and then it will be down to the Affected parties to take a private prousecution against contractor insurances companies insure any one and dont ask for quals to begin with its only when it goes wrong thy ask and look and think mmm how can we not pay out ? feel empathy for contractor but thats how i think it will go love to hear in the end how this is resolved
  17. i agree rocking any tree you are felling is never a good idea a steady pull is always the way or you risk snap hinge off and as soemone else has said possibly remove the middle of the hinge BUT its one decision you make on site re how to get down could not a tracked chipper or a vehicle have pulled it even with a re direct on it no rocking then good solid pull
  18. how did you adjust the tipping power ? have you any pics etc as to where and aht you did TIA
  19. no worries what would you pay for groundie and 150tw chipper and when would you be looking at and where as distance plays a part in the price lol #
  20. turner hire also another option is hire someone in that has one
  21. Never had a bowline come undone on my rope and i prefer to use no eye . so no chance to get stuck in a fork or other on way down you can get a aluminium cap (forgot what ist called) to feed end of rope in and feed back on itself and it goes thru the big eye on cambium and not the small
  22. should be in handbook etc but most of time people use a business card
  23. neds digging further out and deeper and it should come out no probs
  24. theres quite a few ways to do it main point is ya dont have to have an eye in rope to use hitchclimber
  25. yes i prefer no eye splice in my rope and keep changing ends etc just tie to karabiner with bowline or other end know then karabiner to hitchclimber
