  1. i know its only a forum for talking and we are all making opinions IM A LOLER Inspector my self and as part of my Testing i Clean Karabiners airlin and lub for the client and where needed a little wash on smaller items of rope as it seems to me Friction hitches ( all the various types that seems to be sapped up etc ). its all part of the service i still climb 2 or 3 times a week and like to think i keep up with new kit etc been a climber for 30 years Showing my age now 48 and can still give Climbers younger than me a run for their money not always in Speed mainly in endurance and experience and of course end result As they say everyday is a school day we are all learning and no one knows it all
  2. as loler inspectors They are to inspect as presented eg if Karabiner clogged with sap and sawdust and gate does not return etc Then FAIL same as Ropes and hitches if they looked GLAZED heat damaged this could be dried on sap etc but the Inspector will inspect as presented if you knew there was sap on ropes hitches perhaps a quick wash prior to inspection , and if you had just done a Sappy Tree then clean as soon as after , i Clean my ropes when Sap etc gets on them and give Karabiners quick blow out with airline sometimes weekly but Always Monthly and a little lub to keep things moving nice
  3. its one of them that a picture can only tell part of the tale and looking in person will give a so much more detailed view and a good idea of what needs doing
  4. ive had dozens off flywheels off some my own most friends etc to change bearings etc and to now never had to actually change blade pockets due to wear etc did here of one friend who had to as he totally knackered the threads that hold blades in made
  5. could ask first why do you actually want to change the blade pocket it self has it suffered damage making it unbalanced etc ? if you have to change them you will need to grind the weld off take bolts out and re weld back in but depending who did this you may need the flywheel balancing
  6. from pic looks welded down side but cant really see from pic
  7. Not sure on the older ones but my friend had a Entec 2003 one i have a 2009 timberwolf 150 and both Blade pockets are bolted and also welded in place
  8. if the roles were reversed and you was the employee what would you do and what would you expect your employer to do. put yourself in their place ?
  9. good idea and i have one for at yard but was thinking more for the Mover for out on the job
  10. Buy a 2nd and unit and fit youreself ive bought 2 new Motors and rollers them self surplus stock from caravan company and will just wire up to to 2 3 way switches as i dont need wireless and will be putting isolater switch in too ive already put a larger battery on chipper as had to replace other so squeezed it in . 70ah only slightly larger than original ian i only intend to use for a short while for tight areas etc i also have a 110 leisure battery that im tempted to make a platform to sit in front of battery box and use that but only put on chipper when need it , keep it in tranny someover next few weeks may get round to actually doing it lol
  11. I Was Going to Say that lol it is very very true
  12. You Will Prob Find if you asked another LOLER inspector that he will have different types of Karabiner fail over his last test i sure the main thing here is how the OPERATOR uses them
  13. From My experience its tend to be the Larger ones ,, i dont get many ISC Gecko ones fail which are nearly the same size but over past few tesst ISC Mongoose 3 Way Locking Karabiners have failed due to misalignment of Gate , they also seemed to be more wear on them , But this may also be down to the fact that People See the Size of them and try to Do more with them IE heavy loads etc mixing Climbing and Rigging Karabiners , the ones i seem to fail least are DMM Oval and the Smaller ISC Boa ones there has not been a real OUTSTANDING one , im Pretty sure most of it is down to Operator
  14. as in General or down to Poor maintenance etc
  15. Duck Oil is the Best ive Found Even Recommended by Some Karabiner Suppliers Lube them Work them till Good Function and then Airline Excess off if Poss do this on a weekly basis or Monthly at least Dependent on use, situation, and conditions used in not like some Once or Twice a year Im Also a LOLER Inspector and some Karabiners i Inspect for Tests display signs of not been Lubed for some time You are Putting your life in Such Equipment Every time you climb A little Care and Cleaning is not Hard or Time consuming and Could Save your life, i also find when ive cleaned and Lubed my own Gear it Gives me Peace of mind and that is absolutely Priceless
  16. yes Supply and Demand can alter a price but i would say 3-3.5K if looks tidy and clean as well as works well have seen TW150 on 2005 2006 going for 5-6.5k with 1200 hrs approx also Price Depends alot on whether Dealer or Private sale
  17. we are getting more info now as in begining you only said only way it moves if you force Clutch out with a screwdriver you dint say they stayed out ? if they stay out that would only in my opinion make the Head never stop and could lead to the Strimmer stalling on tick over If it wont retract on its own sound like springs very weak need replacing , Can you then gentle pass them back in How much resistence if loads then there may be some catching issue, if your confident everything else is ok then best bet is New Clutch complete assembly unless New Springs and throrough clean and Lubricate NOT THE CLUTCH SHOES , all the internal parts and then airline to dry off to Stop Contamination
  18. may even be just as simple as some foreign object string plastic grass rope binder tape etc stuck between head and gearbox ,, was it working fine then just stopped have you have head off and any chance you have not put all plates covers back etc if so the space will be reduced and head will catch
  19. just beat me to that comment then lol check each item in line that it actually moves and grease where needed gearbox etc

    Aspen

For past 5 years ive used Normal Petrol with the Briggs and stratton Fuel Fit Additive No issues at all Saw blowers strimmers etc run great less fuel no probs if machine left with fuel in for months on end
  21. if you have decent knowledge of machines and chippers bearings are not very dear maybe 45-60 depending where ya get from and stripping down did mine including new anvils new fins all off and back on in a long day on my own due to weight of stuff with 2 people i could easily do mine again Off and on within morning including coffee n biscuits lol
  22. its a story of many ends, but you will find that Council its self and Parish Council are separate bodies , so the Parish will not be as tight with this and that and will be more inclined to hire local people as thats the idea of a parish to help and promote the Parish they have duristiction over
  23. even thou it would seem a good idea and may be quickest and located good !! is it really a GOOD idea and best practice to use the chain brake handle other than what it is intended for they are not designed for taking a load only in an emergency , its A safety feature to save injury to you.
  24. defo i wont go up any tree with out my trusty silky on my harness i feel naked without it lol
  25. 150t are very light as those that have and are using it will agree i still have a silky on my harness and at times it can come in handy like already said 2,3 & 4 inches are well within capabilities of a 150t , i have also opened the exhaust slightly (slighlty louder yes but sounds good lol ) and Advanced the timing Approx 5-6 degreees ( re tuned carb ) and it will now move the upper limit to 6-7inches with no prob it can nearly give a stock 192 a run for its money i love the lightness and like mentioned even more so now improved its cutting power , saying that thou the 192t is a very nice saw and on most jobs gets picked in favour of my 201t (ive Opened exhaust on my 192t) and apart from the 12inch cuts the 192 copes very well (next job is to advance timing on 192t ) and im sure that that will defo give the 201t a run for its money, the weight saving on 192 from 201t is big , the 201t has had exhaust opened and could in near future also receive an advance to the timing
