  1. To be fair, the application failed to meet the requirements for validation in the first sentence. For several years now, the requirement has been to provide the residual crown spread after pruning, whether that's the entire canopy or partial/in one direction. It's no harder to write a correctly worded application, than it is to write one that may not be validated. If it's only one limb, something like: 'Reduce lateral limb extending to the (N,E, S, W) at x m above ground level, to a residual branch length of x m to provide a two m clearance from the chimney. Pruning to be limited to the removal/reduction of secondary and tertiary branches only and in compliance with BS3998' Bear in mind that if a TPO'd tree is mullered after receiving consent, the LA would want a cast iron specification of work that they could show a judge had been exceeded. I know it's annoying when stuff comes back, but shouldn't we all be on board to raise the standards and improve the system where we can?
  2. Handbags? I really wonder how your mind works at times!
  3. Some bloke called Adrian's already tried that. It didn't work!
  4. He's not after a subby Eggs, full time on the books is what he's after. Talking to his lads, they said he's good to work for so I'd assume that wages are sufficient and commensurate with skills/experience and everyone is happy.
  5. Ians a good 'un Eggs. I've met some of his lads previously and if I was thirty years younger I'd be happy to work for him.
  6. I've met Ian and some of of his lads, he runs a good firm and encourages/supports career advancement for the right people.
  7. That looks a well thought out bit of kit.
  8. Our cocker has a fixation to lay in the missus' handbag. Put it down anywhere anywhere and he's laid over it, growing at the other dogs if they come near.
  9. It's not too difficult (converted a Kwik-chip 222 to tracks years ago) but sourcing a decent undercarriage can be expensive and time consuming. Andy Johnson, from on here, did a few with remote control functions too.
  10. Wouldn't be me, I'd be displaying a pink one to show my support for the LGBT alphabet crowd. Do they come in rainbows?
  11. Looking at the proliferation in the CI, are they very common in France Mick?
  12. When I was studying we had pest and disease identification tests. 10 different pests or diseases. 30 points total for common name, scientific name, and how they caused a problem. One kid got 1 out of 30. He even got the common name of a wasp wrong. And he passed the course! But you didn't get rewarded with alcohol for the highest marks
  13. I did mention it in another thread on the twelfth, but I can't find it now. Try to keep up.
  14. Published yesterday. Can't get much more up to date than late. The Bury sighting isn't that far from me. From another forum - "Jersey have gone past 50 nests found and destroyed this year alone (up from 7 or 8 I think last year)." Maybe the weather has been a significant factor?
  15. No. Jacked it a few weeks back, although I'll be undertaking (and billing for) planning submissions.
  16. Excuses are like ar******s, everyone's got one Jokes aside, I had some boots like that, changed the laces and it largely resolved the problem.
  17. One, part-time and it's me. No staff issues at all and it's terrific!
  18. With those big eyes it'll get away with murder.
  19. Welcome to arbtalk. That's a good, if sobering, first post
  20. Reading the updates, apart from huge increases in the Channel Isles this year, they've been positively identified in Hull and Hampshire (this week). There's a good guide on ident from Non Native Species Secretariat ID_Vespa_velutina_(Asian_Hornet)_3.0.pdf
  21. Never came across it really. Good groundsman and climbers who respected them and would go out of the way to make their life as easy as possible. Personally, I never wanted to get down to start dragging branches, unless the site dictated that brash couldn't be cleared as stuff came down. Otherwise, if there was a load to shift, something had gone wrong in planning the numbers of lads on the floor. But, surely the attitude is to do what needs doing, finding something to do if your underworked and stood around and working efficiently - it's not rocket science.
  22. I normally leave my laptop in sleep mode, so sometimes have to restart it or restart the wireless box thing when the internet slows. Edit. And occasionally arbtalk won't load at all on a phone, until the phone is turned off and back on.
