  1. I rescued a kitten once, the owner asked how much so I said for them to make a donation to the Kent Air Ambulance. What comes around goes around and I'll be happy to see that helicopter if we ever need it! Feels good to help others when you can.
  2. Actually it was creamy mushroom chicken served over rice this evening
  3. Ah sorry, my experiences with this product (followed by a good rake) must differ to you good self... (gets second beer and kicks back to watch telly ;-) )
  4. Cut lawn, spread Aftercut, water, reach for beer - simples.
  5. Mark Following on from another post who posted the name of the tip site mentioned, their website now states they have moved! Charmwood Farm, Charmwood Lane, Farnborough, Kent, BR6 7SA Mobile green waste composting and green waste recycling - Greenfields Wood Waste Solutions Ltd south east This may work better for you in Sevenoaks as its a little nearer! James
  6. Just searched up Greenfields and it would seem they have moved to: Charmwood Farm, Charmwood Lane, Farnborough, Kent, BR6 7SA Mobile green waste composting and green waste recycling - Greenfields Wood Waste Solutions Ltd south east
  7. Good job that, well done
  8. There's a tip site up the road in Bromley open to all if needed, Scrubs Farm, lower gravel road is the location, can't remember the name of the company at the moment but its there!
  9. Worth knowing, cheers guys.
  10. Nicely done! Interesting looking spider crane there, any more details - I know I could have saved some back ache with a machine like that recently!
  11. Yup, Cameron is a good chap, listens and sorts out exactly what you need. And Jack, yes they do chipper insurance by the way.
  12. I have the Halfords professional range torque wrench, for something as important as torque settings on chipper blades I wouldn't skimp on this particular item. I seem to remember it was around 60 - 70 quid with the discount card.
  13. Get up, get out, get earning / no work, no money, no fun = incentive enough for me and my groundie! Guess in larger companies there are bonus schemes or trips out for the boys but from what I have gleaned from other industries who have implemented such incentives is that it breeds contempt in the work place. Aren't we supposed to adopt an everyone is equal, work is not a competition attitude these days?
  14. Sweet... Although surely its got to be adjustable air suspension for riding those high stumps?? Anyway, I have seen chippers on sites such as Copart before so might be worth looking on there? Copart | Home Farm trader / autotrader / ebay / gumtree are all possible others
  15. Be spot on for cutting sleepers for landscaping with very accurate joints - most Oak sleepers I purchase are all cut at funny angles on the ends which need squaring off before use.
  16. When I began tree surgery it quickly became apparently that my then insurer didn't cover tree surgery - it was them to suggested I looked else where and cancelled the existing. There was no fee to pay for cancelling as it was they who effectively ended the policy due to the lack of being able to cover all my needs. I was quite surprised when they asked for my bank details and I got more than half the money back again! Guess its all in the small print - I would suggest you go back and read yours carefully. If in doubt, seek advice from financial ombudsman
  17. Mine is with Trust insurance, very fair price I thought and excellent service, speak to Cameron. J
  18. Trust insurance as above, speak to Cameron, fantastic service and great price for all my insurance needs.
  19. Check out ebay and such like for a second hand Paxton as well, i paid £430 for mine and was barely used!
  20. I have the same size 'Countryman' trailer. They are good for light use, regularly fill it to the top with wood chip but only half fill it with logs or you will probably kill the springs like I did once! Depending on what you are towing it with could you build a platform on the A frame of the tow bar? Whilst the nose weight would increase i wouldnt think a treebuster is very heavy?? There is a thread on here about mounting a chipper on the trailer, the back is preferable place but if the total weight evens out once you fill it with chip then the front might not be a bad option when applied on a small scale?
  21. As above, spike it but inspect the pollard knuckle / head when you get to it to ensure its stable enough. This is a lombardy we did last year, one of three. Just think about what you are doing, but it certainly sorts the men from the boys... Take your time!... J
  22. Did you get the cabstar in the end? How did it perform and are you happy with it? Cheers James
  23. I have rescued similar with a good solid wood post and brace and a ratchet strap (you could use a winch to bring it up but if not available then a good 5 ton ratchet works). Once upright strap it with a strong anchor or sacrifice the ratchet and leave it in place. Best to use a strop to act as a cambium saver and it will need checking regularly. I saved my own 25ft conifer about 7 yrs ago and it soon compensated with new roots and the support system was removed after 18 months with minimal damage. I'm sure many others will have more complex solutions but for a low tech simple one, try that. J
