Attached are the pictures of the current state of this saw. As previously stated this is a non runner and currently in pieces. It is being offered for sale, open to offers. Will send at cost but it will be around £15 for mainland UK. International i would have to get individual quotes for.

Ok so more than 5 years on from the first post on here I have decided to sell this 242xp as I simply do not have the time to do anything with it. It's currently in pieces in a box. Does anyone on this post who commented about not scrapping it want to offer to buy it? Located Cranbrook, Kent. Pick up preferable but may consider sending it but do not know how much it'll be yet. I'll get some pictures this week coming.

For the first half of the summer I would agree but since then Kent has had pretty much no rain since and most are now browned off despite our attempts to keep them greened up with feed early on. Now we could really do with a fortnight of rain at night to get it back to some sense again, any day time rain just evaporates within hours.

Averagely around the same 75 - 80% for domestic clients. Commercial clients 100% so far and they are all good money for the work but they usually need our landscape maintenance services badly after being let down by others.

I don't use a scale but I know when not to bother starting the job when I know we won't get it done, it will end up costing more money than being worth turning out in poor weather and / or will make more mess of the garden than it is worth. This 'winter' has been excessively windy and wet but we have managed to get some work done in between. The excessively wet days were followed by a week of people saying their gardens were too wet, or even under water, to work in and I would agree. Wind has delayed us with some MEWP work but its not worth risking life for getting a tree done, it will be there afterwards - or on the ground needing clearing up Being the boss, I don't do getting totally soaked through and ending up with a cold for nobody but some times when its partly a naff day we will work. Another consideration is that when I have my subby groundie booked for a day or mores work then I worry that if I cancel its money not going in his pocket and therefore putting dinner on their table is much harder. Its a shame many other companies we work for don't see it the same way when they suddenly postpone work, their employees are fine on their salary, it doesnt matter if they work or not that day and they rarely understand there are people at the end of the phone waiting on pay day! Still, weathers improving all the time at the moment, days are getting longer, here's to spring

Round for ours, however experience has shown that it is near impossible to just turn the blades as greenmech say due to wood chips and dust collecting in the triangle behind the two blades on the fly wheel. It is similar to orbital strand board when you pick it out. It doesnt affect the machine or ability but turning the blades easily just wont happen. It is handy however to have 2 more surfaces per round blade to use before the blade needs changing out completely.

Delayed doing a job today on the weather forecast for the wind but in reality it wasn't too bad down here, so that's tomorrow. Spent the afternoon gathering materials for a shed extension as we have run out of room again, loaded all that out ready and then emails and admin again.... It is very easy to become tired of this winter weather and feel dejected, demoralised and generally down, but least January has been and gone now, the evenings are getting longer and before we know it spring will be here. Just got to muddle through some more till then. Sharing is caring, I'm always happy to chat woes of the day, especially Mondays!

We have a greenmech arb 130 too and never had an issue with it firing into the truck, in the past we have had it happilly firing over fences etc. What RPM does it read when right up on the throttle? Are the blades new in it and whats the chip grade like coming out of it? Sim, they are a great machine from our experience, the only thing i would have done was to get to 150 as the 130 suffers a lack of bottom end power some times being petrol, whereas the diesel has a bit more umph, its not detrimental to the machine but would be handy when banging through conifer at 5"

Thanks for all your replies That was my concern really Steve Are they strong enough to use professionally say once a week or so? They look ideal for some of the small trim up jobs for domestic clients. Ive used one of those before that someone had on site but it feels awkward using to pull whilst holding the tool? With these it would be like long secateurs.

Yeah we have been hoping it was going to dry up from Tuesday till last Friday when we cut our contract and we were right, or lucky not sure which.. Followed by a cloudy night too which was handy so no frost. The majority of our contracts and private gardens had stopped in late November however with the mild climate we have had in the south the grass is growing like nuts. I don't like cutting in winter but needs must. Tomorrow I'll be cutting our own grass as now the mrs has seen the pics and wants it done. Granted the grass is about 5 inches now

We dont usually but the clients require it looking tidy 100% of the time, contracts are contracts and overrides our original advice of finishing in November. However, since this thread was about new mowers i thought i would post it, makes ya wonder why i bother...

Take a look at Etesia mowers. They have been around for a long time and are known for grass collection in the wet. We have had ours for 3 months now and it cuts and drops, cuts and mulches and collects. Ours is the LKX2 model with the Kawasaki engine which is good for slopes up to 30 degrees. Edit - this is a pic of ours in action today cutting and dropping as this section was longer.

I also learned that Landscape Services who do a lot of the council work is owned by Kent County Council. I'm not sure how that would stand up if someone challenged it given they win a lot of the 5 -10 year contracts when they go out for tender?
