  1. I do all my own SEO, its pretty simple cos the website runs on drupal, which is similar to wordpress. Anyway, heres a handy website which health check your website and how good your seo is: Nibbler - Test any website
  2. Re: helmets, it is your call, your the climber, your in control and responsible for those under you. Raise the point next time you are with the owner of the company you subby for as it will void any liability or employees liability you all have if something did happen and the person on the ground didn't have a helmet on. jaime - yes i do that too, where possible, use the highest stem to top tie and remove other stems around it, thus removing shockloading from the system and adding more control. Also useful if the DZ is small and the opposite side of the tree than the stem you are knocking down. I subscribed too, looking forward to more.
  3. Hi all Can anyone tell me what engine oil an Arborist 130 petrol with the briggs engine needs? Looked in the manual but it states refer to engine manual and i didnt get one of those! Thanks in advance. James
  4. If it is the diameter stated then as above arrow cut it. I've done similar trees where it wasn't necessary to climb it but not able to fell. A step cut works well too, keep it upright, put the saw down, snap it off and walk the butt out and let the top fall over, works on trees up to around 15 - 20ft with a 4" diameter.
  5. Good video and good work, heed the advice above about the groundies needing lids - ive always made everyone around wear one or they're off the job. Looking forward to more
  6. Oh that's giving me ideas! Thought about a skidsteer like Ians or a digger like Stevie Blairs but this could be an ideal stop gap and problem solver! Like the ball hitch and log carrier ideas .... Hmmmm ... off to ebay
  7. To my understanding some people do not Loler a flipline as its not supporting you or lifting weight as it should only be used as a secondary support when your feet at supported also? Having said that, i force my loler man to do mine for me I guess in the case of your one, if it has shrink wrap over it and you are not happy with it personally then dont use it, sell it and buy a different one without the wrapping. At the end of the day, its not the loler mans neck on it, its yours. If you dont think its fit for purpose to use and climb with, then dont.
  8. Ive sent a request to join, not sure if I will ever have anything to offer but worth considering it :-)
  9. Think Onion ......... You'll never stop them but you can sure as hell make it difficult and time consuming.
  10. Thanks Peat and Spud Will most definitely give this a go! The scoring seems slight, you can only just feel it on the finger tip and not very obvious to the eye so hopefully some light sanding after the acid will sort it. Then on to actually buying the new piston as gaskets!
  11. Ok so having had the opportunity to look at it again in daylight... Having read up on which acid dissolves aluminium, i read its sulphuric acid, is that correct? Whats the method for doing it with the acid? Just bath it or paste it on the area? I am keen to try the acid and wetNdry first as it would avoid spending money on the hone! Also another question, where is best to get replacement gaskets for this model? Ereplacement parts seem to list them? Or some where else? Any advice much appreciated !! Looking forward to get the saw back together again now, been a fun project.
  12. How about using an A frame, nearby tree, or engine hoist to help with the weight? I have learnt over the years to use aids of differing kinds to avoid repeating back damage. The other day i hoisted on an electric log splitter i hired onto the transit with a 3to1 pulley block set up we use for rigging
  13. Ok so I have a rediculous number of ideas flying around my grey matter, brain, and this is one of them. In order for me to sleep better I thought i'd ask: Is Leylandii conifer wood any good for kindling? Could it be the answer to what to do with so much conifer wood every year? Known issues: It wouldn't be the neatest kindling when split. Obviously it would have to be seasoned for some time. I hate to see wastage and this is one idea for it! Also does anyone use a kindlet or similar and would it work well with conifer? Cheers James
  14. Joe ... sorry ... she's mine ... eventually when i get round to doing it lol adw - like one of these you mean?
  15. Hey everyone Just wondering, having watched videos of it on youtube, if its possible to use honing stones to remove the groves in a cylinder prior to fitting a new piston? Is there enough tolerance within the piston and rings to loose a few thou or would it be useless?? Photo attached. Its from the husky 242xp which i am rebuilding after my dad blew it up about 5 years ago, see previous thread. I can source a new cylinder online but wondered if anyone had done it?? Cheers, James
  16. Opening later would be handy, although how about only one or two nights a week? There have been times when working near Sidcup when i have thought about going to you afterwards to pick up the odd couple of bits but haven't cos its too late in the day to be there before closing time with the traffic factored in too.
  17. Avoiding as you do till it warms up, worked hard before November to get them all done before the cold got here. Have one to reduce and trim sides but leaving that for warmer times too and client is more than happy to wait.
  18. Its not for anything other than wood chip and logs but i get what your saying.
  19. Been trying to find somewhere new for myself for logs and chip storage. Some shared space would be ideal but trying to talk any farmers into it seems hard work these days even when offering money
  20. Plywood usually although if its a good lawn we would cover with a huge tarp and lower out everything and ring it down.
  21. + another one for cannon access, great service
  22. Thanks for that Neil, I think you simply have to add extra on for the machine per day. If you had to hire it then it would cost you as much if not more! We hire a 27 metre Omme and thats too large for most of our jobs but does have awesome outreach when you need it. Think you have chosen wisely with the 21m as most of our work would be around that size also. Cheers James
  23. Neil Looks a great set up and a good machine that. What is the deprecation like on a machine of that value? After 3, 5, 10 years? Do you have a long term plan for how long to keep it for? Not that i want to buy it off of you (would be nice lol) but interested in how the figures stack up as a MEWP is something I have considered buying myself. Cheers James
