    MS230 woes

What the aspen hating, Barrie upsetting, man above said :lol: Only joking spud.
  2. I used a marker pen for the inlet boot on pressure testing the other day and the piston moved under pressure and nearly killed me Next time I'm to to stand in front of it when doing it or I will go back to using the rubber stick ends....
  3. Does the seat not come out and do it from behind the seat??
  4. Have another look div. Take the top cover off and just pull the ht lead off. Seems to be a common problem on them then. Had the 200t with vertigo out working on job today. So checking it out to make sure all is good. It did cut out again and was a real pain to start up. Noticed it was running very rich. So tuned the high screw and it is now revving its nuts off and clean exhaust fumes. To the point I'm sure it's four stroking but never having heard a four stroking saw I don't know.
  5. Spud I had that exact same thing on a 260 before. It would want to die when put into timber but carry on once withdrawn. When pressure was put on the saw the ht would hit the mount with the movement and then move away when pressure released. Ensure the wire is put in its small channel on the top cover when replacing or it will happen again. I did put some electrical tape over it for good measure. It had me baffled for a short while as I was thinking fuel filter and carb until I noticed it.
  6. Did you know they remove that word form the dictionary :lol: Yes I tried number three
  7. I know is known for his tuning. Guru I think someone once called him. I take it its something to do with a 880 he is going to sell yet didn't use arb trader or something along these lines. I did post on another thread he started where he just put pics up of the saw. 'twas a nice looking saw aswell.
  8. Jon sometimes your posts lose me. If pete is still even on arbtalk anymore. He did sound a bit Erm annoyed....

Looks like it mate. On a brighter note the other half made this for me last week. It now has pride of place on my trucks dash.

One form the other week. Going through the pictures on my iPad and found this one.
  13. It's in the detail jack. Some are getting very good but still have small details missing or wrong. Do a search there are some good ones that have been brought up on other threads and if you read through them you will soon see the fakes. Here is a couple. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/chainsaws/54023-fake-real-husqvarna-395xp.html http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/chainsaws/53582-malaysian-365-copies-fleabasy.html http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/lounge/52028-what-model-saw.html Ok so the last one is not really a fake saw but worth posting anyway
  14. Now that's some good advice... I have been down to halfords after much searching in various repair shops and got a drive belt from there. Although its not the right one it is the right size. Fitted it and it seems to turn ok but won't know until its being used. Nice light loads for now. Ordering the part on Monday. Fingers crossed. Although the other half has informed me its half term next week so not such a rush on for school clothes but still need to do some washing. If that fails there is a laundrette down the road. Just need the washing part. Drying can still be done.
  15. Ok so it's not a saw but is important. Stopped working this morning and opened it up to find the belt had gone. Trying to find a new one is not happening.. eBay here I come. And it's a Saturday so its going to be manic to get the washing done for school on Monday....ARGH.

    gadget show

Saw that show ages ago. I liked the bike with I think 12 880 saws on it.
  17. Oh an impulse lime on a 026 is a pita. Ok. So chain cover off, recoil off, air filter cover off. And top cover off. Leave the carb boot although it is tricky but save time in getting the carbs and everything off. A long nose pliers and a flat screwdriver. Maybe two pairs of pliers. Go in from the sides and work it out. Lots of swearing and fiddling should get it out and new in. Failing that pull carb boot out and do it that way but due to that stupid plastic plate behind carb it's always a pain as it does nothing but get in the way.
  18. Put the 109 back together tonight. Gave it a little run and got to say its good. Havnt done anything with the squish or the exhaust yet. I feel I have opened the ports as far as I dare. I also didn't touch the piston. The transfer ports didn't leave anything to be touched either. Will do the squish band soon and also look into the exhaust. It's a bit bent up whine it has taken a hit at some point but with some grunt and a hammer I should be able to get it apart to work on. The av mounts have gone. Well one is missing and t he others don't look too clever. Hopefully I may be able to get it up and running proper for a boys day out.
  19. Do you know what........ Some people have some cracking ideas. Stupid or not if you have a log with some moss on it and it sells aswell I'm sure there is someone out there who would want it. Can we open another forum.... Bit like the firewood forum but for selling natural art on eBay forum...... Maybe something like the art for eBay.
  20. Clean up of bore and a new piston and ring. Looks like a small amount of Ali transfer onto bore but if its smooth to touch then its not much to worry about, some cleaner will sort it. Don't be tempted to use any abrasive paper. It may damage the bore. Not sure if meteor do a piston for it. That's spud area. He has shares in meteor, either that or he is on the take from the supplier.
  21. This is my next port of call. After disconnecting the short circuit wires from the coil and eliminating the circuit it could only leave the ht lead area. Stihl sell there coils with this part off and you have to fit it yourself. They can come out when fitting but arnt noticed as they get wedged in. You could remove it from the cap and just lecy tape the spring on with the plug on it and then test it.
  22. Are the points on the flywheel blue?. I'm ist reacted from the coil itself as its new and should be working. The only option it really leaves is the short circuit wiring. Or the control switch is shorting. Try disconnecting the circuit wiring from the coil and see if a spark is given. This eliminates the circuit wiring as a problem.
  23. Have no idea. Will get a pic of the chain break side tomorrow.
  24. Carefull now.... Barrie will get very jealous and send you death threats :lol::lol:
