  1. Yep that's the one I'm looking at. Just need to get to the workshop and check the pitch size of chain. But hey I can always sell a new chain aswell
  2. Ok. I keep looking. It's for a trust so I'm not ordering anything until they say so. I've been looking Ito pressure testers. I have a vac tester coming but what pressure testers is everyone using?
  3. Yeah one day. Only live down the road aswell.
  4. A wood boss should out perform any Chinese copy that has ever been made. Even the husky ones (but IMO the husky ones are real husky saws its just husky doesn't want people to know ) A friend has a wood boss and its a monster despite being old. It would keep up with any of ms range out there today.
  5. Cheers mate. I'm happy to do it by hand. Most of it is used in flower beds and pathways. So its really wheel barrow land. Most of it is due to be thrown over the fence it is piled up near to cover the bank and keep the weeds at bay. I've to some greenmech feed rollers to change doo and my bench is getting fuller by the day so I know the feeling of being rushed of my feet.. Anyway dee rail from op.
  6. No I havnt. I really should dig into it. But I'm really waiting for a loader to come along and do it for me. I'm only at that site for one day every two weeks so I can't do everything at once. Jeeze I'm not a robot you know.
  7. Page four copied and saved. Thank you goaty. Doesn't give the angle but does give the file size. Trying to build up a good folder that is easy to refer to rather than searching on the Internet all the time. Try this one hazz. http://www.pferdusa.com/info/PDF/CSF.PDF
  8. I've got to say like it, your tw is a good looking little bit of kit.
  9. Can't be that one is in my shed  Nah he said its a 028 so its just above the 026 that IMO is a fantastic saw.
  10. One thing is bugging me now..... What exactly is wrong with your stihl. So the Chinese thing out performs the stihl. So there must be something wrong with it for you to say this.
  11. Ok so after having a few saws coming through the bench now I'm looking for filing guides for chain makes. Got Oregon, stihl, and archer chain guides but nothing else. Also have a few with no names on them come through so can't I.D the chain to see what the filing angle and size are. Or the depth guide clearence should be. Just guess the ones with no names by looking at the size of the chain on the bar. Anyone or any links to guides or tables for chains.?
  12. Hmmm I can see why you would do it but I've got to say IMO its a bit of a waste of time putting a new chain on and chucking a file straight on it. At least use it first and then chuck a file at it. You must have way too much time on your hands to file a new chain :lol:k:lol: Edit: Oops now someone has upset you and my post will be seen as hostile or something.... Better get an asbo now.
  13. You mean you gotta proper tool in for the last bit and not a crapota I've used those heads before, you can get some very imaginative digging lines from them. Great for pond digging and dyke digging. Put a grapple on one and you can put pylons up with them very easily. Good looking job by the way.
  14. Learn with a file. A grinder is ok but if you are not carefull you will heat up the cutter and cause it to blunt quick when used.
  15. Yeah I was was just giving an example. Not an a cutsAll reccomendation. But I did read in the greenmech book that the round blades should be changed after 100hours. Not sure if that means rotate at 100 or change complete after rotating inbetween 100 hours.
  16. Clock runs on the ignition. You could leave it all day with just the ignition on and the clock will still count on. Don't know why people say they do less hours to change blades etc. the chipping time is nothing. So even if you follow the book and change the blades at say 100 hours, guarantee the blades have only done half that actual chipping. The rest will be on tickover or just running waiting for the next lot to be thrown at it.
  17. Had a bit of a busy day today. First up was a stihl saw. I have worked on it before but can't remember what one it was an ms19 something or other. Anyway. Wouldn't go to stop. The ground lever wasnt going past the small cam and grounding out. Gave it a bit of a bend and all is fine. Next was a Hayter mower with Briggs and Stratton engine. It was fired up once a week over Xmas to keep the fuel from gunking up but this time it just wouldn't start. A bit of fuel down the intake and away it went. Left running for half hour and all was fine. Stopped and started good. Said to keep an eye on it and of it wouldn't start at any time to call and I will clean out the carb. Then it was a Honda water pump. Would start on choke but when choke off would rev its nuts off. It was lent out before and came back like it. Checked and cleaned fuel bowl and main jet. Bit of crud on bowl but jet was clear. On putting back together noticed the governor was jammed open all the way with a bit of cardboard....... Removed this and it was all good again. Finally is the one I think I'm going to be stuck on. A dolmar 116. Chain break cover was not going on properly. On removal I discovered that he had tried to put the cover on with the chain break band closed. This had jammed on the clutch drum and then it has been forced to go on over the top. The drum was badly worn and is now all bent up. A few tweaks and its straight again and got the cover on properly but the drum still needs to be replaced. So a question is who or where can I get a new drum for it from...
  18. Yes it would still pass. As you are pressure testing a "sealed" case. With plug in, exhaust blocked and inlet blocked its a sealed unit. The oppression needs testing to see it the cylinder or piston is shot. Low comp means something's gone. And on a strip down it will then become apparent what is up.
  19. It will leak worse as the seals are gone. It's more about sideways movement or movement in the crank to bearing clearence, like its rattling around the bearings. You will generally get a feeling for them if they are gone. By the way the 200 is a LOT easier to replace than any other saw.
  20. Welcome. And yes the same way spud does it. Take great care you don't hit into the crank casing and damage that edge. Are the bearings ok? There is no side movement int he crank? Worth pilling the crank about and feeling for movement while turning the piston seeing as you are this deep it would be a shame not to check the bearing while you are at it.

Sorry spud yes RING. Be woken up a bit now after dozing off all day on the sofa. It's been horrible as I have only been asleep for an hour at a time. Many thanks for the praise over RNLI. I enjoy it.

One very long night. So now at ten in morn I'm off to bed night night. Wednesday 27th February 2026 : Dover Lifeboat launched on service to assist the Ramsgate lifeboat at the scene of the Tug and Tow MTS Taktow which had run foul of the South Falls buoy. On arrival on scene both lifeboats stood by while the tug used the tide to assist in freeing itself from the buoy. During this process the tow parted. Ramsgate lifeboat initially got a line on the tow, which parted. The tug Taktow eventually freed itself from the buoy and proceeded South to pick up his tow. Whilst manouvering to pick up the tow, the tug fouled his Starboard propellor, though the tow connection was completed, but only at short scope. Further tug assistance was requested, and another company tug the MTS Valiant responded and proceeded to help. On arrival of the MTS Valiant at 0142, the tow was transferred and the tug Taktow escorted by the lifeboat toward Dover. When close to Dover the tug Taktow, decided that he would return to assist the tug MTS Valiant in getting the tow to Dover, but as the tug was still some way off and not expected to be off Dover until around Noon, the tug Taktow has gone to anchor near St Margarets Bay. Dover lifeboat returned to station at 0430 after 8 hours at sea. The crew are now on standby, ready to proceed to sea again, if the situation with the 2 tugs deteriorates during the day, or during the attempt to enter Dover.

Sorry I didn't get to finish the post. The lifeboat pager went and I had to run. Just been stood down. 13hrs on a lifeboat. I have only really worked on one husky and that was to replace the rings. Another small husky was to replace the dogs and chain tensioner.

I don't know where paisley is exactly but if you wanted me to take a look at the stihl let me know. I love stihls purely because its the one saw I have worked on a lot. I have only ever worked on one husky before so I concentrate all my knowledge to them. I'm thinking the tank breather is the wrong one or has been ill fitted before. Could just be plain broken. The fuel cap, was it a new cap fitted. I have had trouble with these caps in the past and have had to "trim" a small amount to get them to seal properly. (Poor manufacturing of them) The cutting out when in use could be anything from dodgy wires getting caught on the mounts to a leaking carb boot or ill fitted carb
  25. But I thought we get three guesses before we are out.
