  1. Well no. There was some marking on the cylinder but cleaned off really easy. Felt the rings it nothing I could notice. Guess its one of those times that it just needs doing.
  2. Ok. Home now and nice and warm. The saw runs.....:biggrin: New piston and away it goes. It's not something that would have stuck with me before but looking at it it was fine. Just to show you can't always rely on comp tests to pass a saw. Replaced it all and it fired up third pull. Then fired up first time every time after. I reckon its meteor, put one of them in it and it will run. Again this has been one of those jobs. I'm extremely gratefull for all the advice and ideas that everyone put forward on this one. Most I had done already but tested second time around. Goes to prove what an excellent site this is and Steve you don't get enough appriciation. Well form me anyway. Take a huge bow everyone for your input. A HUGE THANK YOU.
  3. Well . Pulled a car out of snow drift on way home. And this is my view from the drivers seat. Got to love land rovers.
  4. Ok. So who wants to know what happens. I'm still at the workshop if that means anything....... Should I keep spud in suspense until I get home??!! Yeah I think I will.
  5. Ok. New piston in. Pressure test, passed. Vac test, was a small leak that did not pic up on pressure but turned out the plug wasn't tight enough. Now passed. So back together it goes and then spark test.
  6. Yes I'm here now. Just stripped it down and new piston on crank just need to put pot back on. Fingers crossed my end aswell. But testing all the way on rebuild just to make sure.
  7. Well how's this for service. Ordered a new meteor piston for the 200t on Friday night. After hours, about 6 ish. It has turned up the morning. Will update later after its fitted.

  9. Here we go again.... Any chance the mods can catch up on these threads as they really are repeating themselves. Please use the search option at the top.
  10. Damn right stir crazy the lot of ya. The internal combustion engine was invented for a reason. Well done for doing it at. I already know I don't have the fitness or stamina for anything close anymore.

Open up an old thread but thought I would live up my culinary skills again today with a pork Wellington. With apple sauce inside it. Wrapped in piscutto with puff pastry. Very nice it was too. Out of three made this is the only one left. Oh and all the trimmings aswell.
  14. The rattle could be anything at this stage. Could be something broken from the impact gett caught up in flywheel or clutch side. Hade. This before with a screw that was on the flywheel on a hedgecutter. Rattled it way down and stuck near the magnets.
  15. Ok. First clan out the filter. Could either blow back down the oil pipe and then wash the tank out with fuel. Then run the saw with clean fuel in the oil tank and it may flush the pipes and pump out. There is a valve on the tank that you could check over, its next to the bar studs. You need to check the parts list or service manual for this one. But it's there. If the oil filter is bunged up it will struggle with getting enough oil out to the bar. The only real way is to remove the bar and run saw see how much comes out then clean it all out and do it again and see if it improves, if you don't see an improvement then just use the saw for some light work and see how much oil is left in the tank after.
  16. Could be partial blocked oil filter or breather. Clean around the bar stud. Rinse the tank out well with petrol. Put some in it and shake the saw before emptying it then add clean fuel and run it up and see of fuel pours from oiler hole.
  17. For starters its a four mix  Non running. Try the carb then let us know. Could be coil. Could be comp. could just be spark plug.
  18. NEVER . I reckon its the stihl sulking over the husky being in the workshop.
  19. Yes what I tought. It's not really revelant as they don't leak and that's the way I put them in. Just running through the options again.
  20. But the starting is very consistent. That is what is driving me away from such things as flywheel key etc. it will start on full choke or full revs but die instantly on tickover. As soon as the revs drop it dies. No splutter just die.
  21. Yep flywheel is ok and in place. This check is also to the on ei had before that I forgot to tighten the nut and got very lucky when the flywheel came loose and done no damage. Now I always check and re check it. Like I said its aside for now and when I strip it to replace the piston I will start from the beginning on the rebuild. One question I have is the seals I'm using that you use, what way round do you put then in. I'm just second guessing myself a bit here but do you put them writing out or in???
  22. Well if a new piston doesn't work and I will pressure test and vac test again when I fit it. It will be in the post to you. Sorry over last remark but its kind of getting to me a bit now. Swore like hell at it earlier. Hence why its now sat aside until new piston turns up. Then I'm going to start from the beginning just incase I missed something. Start over and try again. Just been called out to a 7.5t lorry that lost all air and brakes locked on. Took some time but got there in the end. Released all air from the dryer filter and let the pressure drop to zero. Bit risky as if the pressure didn't go back up it would need recovering. But the pressure built and away it went. So full service on the air system is in order. I'm guessing abit of crap got sucked into the air control box and blocked it, by releasing the pressure it allowed the crap to drop and clear the lines or valves.
  23. Nope bloody strong pull on it. Ok. The park is fine. I even bent the electrode out on the plug to test the strength and it jumped a BIG gap.
  24. I will trade you spud..... Swapsy no returns. Got to say I did take a little bit of offence over the incompetence remark bud.
  25. I doubt water lock as it was running when taken out of ditch. Water lock would have stalled it there and then. And the big end would have snapped instantly. Not fired up after. But then I may be wrong. Take the pull start and clutch cover off and see if there is anything a miss with those. Ensure all is tight and not broken, could just be a fin or pull start part rattling around the flywheel area when pulled over. Easiest way is to take the exhaust off and look down the port while gently turning over. Will see the piston moving about inside.
