  1. I have noticed that the techies seem to be the only a ones who are up this late on arbtalk. Normally spuds time to throw in what he has done tonight aswell. Reckon these climbing types are just a bunch of lightweights.....
  2. He did and it turned out like this.
  3. I only change if worn out. Can't see it being viable to change the mounts on a service unless worn out...
  4.:lol::lol: Carefull now Barrie. It's against the rules to use an a word on arbtalk.....:001_tt2: It must be ASPEN
  5. Oh oh oh I know I know....... Ethanol????? Or rape seed fuel.....:lol:
  6. Nothing runs like a Deere..... Nuf said. But I did used to drive the 8100 and I loved the gear shifter on it. Bit outdated now but it was a beast. Did drive the 6610 and didn't like it much. But then it wasn't chipped so was lacking in the available power the engine could have given. Damn I miss tractors.
  7. Could of just done this to get off the wall. [ame=http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=APNGxVIgnkI]Daily Wins: How to get your 14 ton digger off the Silage pit ?P75017 - YouTube[/ame]
  8. Oh. Completely forgot about the rings on the 200t piston. Did a check on them today. The top rings was 1.67mm on the "open" end. And 1.53mm on the back side or exhaust side. It's something I should have known to check and have been taught to check and measure but just didn't as the piston looked fine. Not sure what the measurement should be but the taken measurements tell a monkey that the rings where worn out.
  9. Agree. The arm was up a bit more than I would have had it. But then again he was twitchy on the hyd. The blade on the back is right. But the ones I'm used to dont have them on. Done it in training but don't get to drive the small ones much.
  10. Not much point as he garden is very exposed all over. It's only a small garden. I havnt seen any other. Birds in anyone else's garden to be honest. Guess I just have to put up with looking at d a tree surgeons garden and the flocks of sparrows that return each year and play who can get really close to the humans heads game.
  11. The only birds I get in garden are seagulls. No way I'm feeding those rats. Would love to see something different but nothing ever lands. Did have a feeder up but nothing ate it.
  12. I have no idea. But without a chain break its time it went to the museum...
  13. It's a domestic thing. Looks like the type that when you let go of the drive arm it stops. Annoying after emptying the bag fifty times a cut. And having to restart it.
  14. Must be something to do with the bank behind the wall. Did notice on the return it looks like the bank has been levelled off and there is no drop the othe reside if the wall. If they had rebuilt the wall as it look lik enew block work then they just needed to backfill it. Guess it was better than doing by hand. I would ask what's wrong with the way it was done. Gone up steeper hardcore piles than that in 17t diggers. And come back down again using the arm and only on the rear roller of tracks before. Had the entire digger in the air. Expet for the bloke using his feet to stop the ramps sliding out. Good skill albeit a bit jumpy on the hydros, he done that fine. IMO.
  15. Well. A Honda mower turned up today. Wash backfiring from carb and exhaust. Check valve clearence and flywheel/coil for timing. But all was good. New plug and away it went. (Thanks gardenkit for that one ) Husky went back today. Owner very happy. Next saw should be a 026 arriving any time soon.
  16. Cheers spud. Will take a look at it when I get time. If it hasn't already made it to the scrap pile. Going to order a couple of 200t pistons as they seem to be the most popular saw going over the bench at the moment.
  17.:lol: So it cold heads for you then.
  18. Ok mike. I will try but neither am I really. The old piston looked ok. There was the usuall heavy soot on the top but lean intake. The exhaust had a bit of crud around it but nothing major. I will investigate the piston more when I next get to workshop, will need to inspect the rings very closely. I'm suspecting at this stage the rings being scored. But they look ok. If they are scored it would have meant the crank case leaking through them and going straight out exhaust rather than into transfer ports and piston. This gap would seal when full throttle applied and fuel would fill the gaps. Hense the problems with running seemed like an exhaust issue. There is no doubt the bearings and crank seals had gone when the saw turned up, and by this I'm alo suspect that the piston was able to move about in pot and either catch a ring on a port and damage it or allow the piston to scrape the pot and loose some alli on it. Thinking out load here but will get a really close look at old piston and go from there. Need a magnifying glass. P.S worked on one of them David browns in college. Complete engine rebuild. Don't think it was the Same one but it had fixed sleeves. Had to have a re bore for new pistons and rings. But the one I had to work on was no where near as clean as yours when it turned up. It has used for the dairy poo scraping tractor.
  19. It was never a saga. It pure epic... Just couldn't get my head around the comp being good and the pot being clean aswell. Live and learn. And I'm sure I'm not the only person who will learn from it either.
  20. I've been looking at all the pics on Facebook in my area that people I know keep posting. There are some really bad ones on roads that IMO any driver with half a brain can drive on in snow and ice. It's a bit or white stuff people not a cause for mass hysteria. I used to drive a corsa in all weather and when my son was in hospital I was driving to London and back in heavy snow. Glad no one was hurt when it hit the bus. But near a school is bad enough.
  21. Your works tach isn't going to be happy with you....
  22. Unless its aspen. Then they will smell of Somerset and fresh country air. Isn't that right Barrie.
  23. Oh the resource this site gives as a tech base is outstanding. And yes I can see meteor as a very good piston maker. The quality of the finish on them is second to none. They don't just take it from mould to temper, they grind them down clean and remove all fab marks. I saw that on the first one I used. I won't even consider another option if I can help it now. But that's one more 200t out the way and its on to the next. This one really oodles just need a new carb. Tried and tested.
