  1. Ok. Not of a letdown to be honest today. Got an email back from a supplier today. Looks like I will have to acquire the bar else where, tried on company and they said that Oregon had advised them that they couldn't sell the bar to me as it would be too dangerous for the average chainsaw user....duh. So got to now try and source a bar from ebay...... Go figure.
  2. No problem David. For everyone else here's the rundown on the 026. The tank breather is missing the solid filter part and the plastic cover. Filled with fuel and tweaked the cap up with screwdriver. No leaks, turned the saw sideways and no leaks. Also the same upside down. The saw started perfectly but was a it rough on tickover. Tweaked the low screw in quarter turn and the saw idled well. So took carb off and checked the meter valve. This was up a small amount so tweaked this down a bit to the markings. Then restarted the saw, idle was now a bit off and turned low out quarter turn back to factory setting. Now runs good. I used a very blunt chain to try and make the saw struggle a bit but it just carried on. So chain will get a sharpen and the saw will be used tommorow to ensure all is good. But for now I'm happy with it, starts first pull when warmed up. Stops good and runs at whatever angle its held at. So far so good. It's a nice saw David and if you ever sell it let me know.
  3. Had div-h 026 on bench tonight. Messages him over it so you lot will have to wait for a post over it. Had an Oregon saw attachment for long reach multi tool. Chain kept coming slack. Not enough oil getting onto chain. Clean out and check over showed the adjuster for oiler was stuck and not working so only letting minimal oil out. Soon fixed.
  4. That is my most used quote, didn't want to be th one to post it.. On again tommorow, and got to say the padre is fit.
  5. Anyone else watching this. Has to be the funniest thing I have seen on the BBC for a long time. Can't repeat most of the quotes I'm tending to use at the moment but still very funny.
  6. I'm going to say it's for reducing connie hedges, one swipe and it 3feet shorter
  7. Agg. You need a vice so you can clamp the bar end in it with chain able torun free. One of the ones that you hammer into a bit of timber for chain sharpening may be good enough if you get it in solid enough. If not a vice bolted to some timber or even the floor. Will keep the bar off the deck and let the chain run round. That's one hell of a long bar that
  8. New bar and new chain. The drive links have scoring from the bar groove on them. New should remove the problems with the chain. And then it will become apparent f there is anything wrong with the oiler or not. Ensure you get a sprocket nose bar as the solid nose bars are a PITA. And get a bar grease gun if you get an Oregon one.
  9. Despair, irritation, depression, and anger. Normally my feelings in order when some tells me they have a Briggs and Stratton that needs looking at. I reckon spud is not even in the running for a bake off.
  10. Two words..... Oh crap. Its ok as I can make it up with cake....and lots of it by the sound of things. Looking forward to it, even if my saw isn't done by then.
  11. Oh dear.....:blushing: I need to get act together and get building. I could be left very red faced and have no cake left over for myself..
  12. Not much an expert on what chain is best but. Some people have said semi chisel as if you hit something it will keep cutting through. Others have said full chisel on top handle but unless its been modded it will lack some power in a bigger cut. Just what I've picked up talking to various climbers and assessor s about the top handle saws.
  13. Get a couple of pics up of the bar. Also what make and type of chain has it got on it. Name and numbers on drive links. Also does the bar have any details stamped into it? Near the saw end of the bar.
  14. Thanks mick. That would be nice of you. I did ask the lifeboat today if they had any engines knocking about but sadly not. And they didn't reply to my comment over using one of the MTU 1000hp engines from the boat either. Well they do have two of them so I'm sure they can manage with just one for a little while Not sure how I would get on with spuds Le Mans start tho.
  15. Thast sound like a little beats. Just needs a port and polish and its good to go
  16. Not a problem for me mate. You havnt seen the monster of a man I am yet. A four pot engine is nothing for me to lift. :001_tt2:
  17. Wow. Just got back from a show tonight. And this talk over bike engines seems to be the way forward. For a first try I don't mind not using a v engine. I just want to kick spuds bum at getting through a log It's really interesting me now. And o my time is very precious I'm afraid spud. But it will be a nice little project for those wet and miserable days. Or when I have a spare hour when the bench is empty. Starting to think I really need to look for an engine. Once I have that I will be away with it.
  18. I'm confused... You say the spring on the post??? The spring doesn't go on the post. The shorter end goes direct onto band, the other end goes on a lever that then sits on a post and then goes to brake handle... Sorry if I'm reading your post wrong but it sounds like you are trying to attach the spring to the post and not the small lever.
  19. Ok. I know nothing of harvester bars or sprockets so if someone could point me int he right direction I will be more than gratefull. I was looking at air cooled as a few cuts now and again. It won't be running all day. (Basically I'm building a toy here. )
  20. Just done some searches on the bay for bars, there are some on the uk. Unless chainsaw bars has any? The chains are cheaper than the postage from USA so will need to source a couple of them in the uk. But depends on the bar. The sprocket I have found one on ebay and that's a lot of money there.
  21. Ok. Just asking as it was bothering me a little bit. One of those things if I don't know the answer it will drive me mad that's all
  22. What thread is all this referring to buy the way????
  23. Not even sure where to search for a harvester head In the uk....
  24. Lifted. Hence the need for light engine. And if spud could use some weights before a boys day out he can help lift it  Once I source and engine the rest is easy. As I will know what my options are for it. Using a harvester head! Do they attach the head straight to the engine or not? I've done a search on google but nothing that really runs through how its all bolted together.
  25. A bike engine does sound more easy to do. Light and simple. Even got the clutch and drive on it already. There is a bike shop near me I can go see about any scrap engines and a bike scrap yard a few mins away. Might even have a mate with an old engine. Will have to ask him. The hardest part of this project is going to be the bar.
