  1. Picking up a free quad later. Honda trx200, small bike but worth a crack for free, missing coil and wiring harness. Oh and a carb. But all parts are relatively cheap to get hold of. Bit of a long project, going to go or a complete rebuild. Maybe try and get it road legal aswell. Should be interesting.
  2. Briggs and Stratton strikes again I have a natural hatred for these engines. Best think to happen to it, now get a Honda in it.
  3. Looks ike there is only one place that's going...... Had an ms261 in today. Pull start being funny. Turns out it wasn't screwed on properly. And the internal clip that hold the throws in place was secured properly. All back together and awaiting collection. All done with my multi tool. A very kind gift from ELG.
  4. Every morning. Where's the car keys, where's the RNLI pager, what did I do with my wallet. Where did I park the car. Am I actually working today. Where did I put that spanner....... Also forget everything the other half tells me two seconds after she tells me. But I swear this is due to me just not listening. :laugh1:

    Rnli

Well. Thought I might have a lie in today..... Yeah right. Pager went off and I was out like a jack rabbit. A life raft floating in channel. No one in it . Not a good sign, but with no distress call out, and no flares spent a god four hours on search pattern and no debri found. Called it off. On one note I was at the helm and turned the boat into the trough and sat in it, NOT a good place to be, one of the emergency tags got caught on the Perspex windows we have on the bridge and set it off, not me but a crew member. Don't think I have laughed that hard in a long time.

    New saw

Bit like comparing a ported husky to the same size stihl then........it unfair that aswel. The ms441 takes a small bar of 18 inches. Should be plenty.

    New saw

Can't comment on the husky. But the stihl ms660 is a monster of a saw for estate general use. The ms260 was a fantastic saw. If you can find any now, now its the ms261 and it has had teething problems with them. But fantastic for everyday use. For a little bit more grunt could get the ms441 with the 25" bar. Al depends on what your spending budget is.
  8. Given what you have said here, I'm now woundering just how toasty a set would be on your ported/ soon to be, racing saw........
  9. Nice. Get a new bar, for all the effort getting the bar dressed it will work out cheaper to just buy another. The clutch can't be adjusted, just replaced when worn, slipping is a sign its worn, but given the bar has had it get a new bar and chain on it first, then see if it carries on slipping.
  10. Cheap garden saw. Won't stand up to a stihl or husky, fine for general logging I guess. If it cuts out when hot and won't restart until cold could be worn piston.
  11. Please stop all this talk of cam belts. It's making me nervouse. Changed the plug on that copy engine. Made no difference, now trying to source the tappet gap. Now I'm not naming or shaming but the saw I picked up yesterday had both shocked and disappointed me greatly. Fired it up earlier today and it was running very high on tickover. This saw had been in for a service, owner paid good money for it aswell, now th enlighten and filters had been changed but it went back with the chain as slack as possible, hanging off the bar, and the high tickover problem. Also a very blunt chain, so after checking the bar over found the bar hadn't been touched either. So cleaned and dressed the bar, sharpened the chain, put it back together as it should be, saw was very high on tickover to the point you could cut with the saw on tickover. Checked the high low screws first and they where 2 1/2 turns out each. So tuned them in and out to the correct setting the saw runs sweat now. Took it back on way home and the owner said it runs better than when he first brought it. this is the words that out a huge grin on my face, the happy customer.
  12. Really. I use to use basic 2 stroke oil picked up from my local motor factors, comma oil it was. Used it on the outboard with no problems at all. But I think the marine stuff is down to pollutants going into the water than what the oil is.
  13. Looking like I may have an engine. A Honda atv 200, but needs a carb. Not bad under 50 on ebay. But has some wiring missing, ell most of it actually, missing almost everything exept the stator. It's not much of a problem but may be hard to source the coil etc. that's something I can't make myself. Will need to look into it. Maybe sell most of the quad parts, like wheels etc to fund getting the engine sorted.
  14. Something to do with the refining process.
  15. Sshhhh keep that quite or someone will be along. Pleas e don't say that A word again.
  16. Erm. So long as its decent oil doesn't make a blind bit of difference. But I'm worried if I should say this so here is the whisper... if you where using aspen there wouldnt be a problem. So sounds like they are being tight.
  17. Ooohhhhh look at all those engine parts. Really makes me want to get a spanner in my hand and come home smelling of grease and oil again. I love going that deep into engines. Just hate being the one that turns the key after saying a little prayer.
  18. Meteor do them. 044 mod. Scroll down the page to stihl and mod. 044 at 50mm dia. Meteor Piston Gardening - Forestry Products Catalog Or replace the lot. Cylinder Kit fit STIHL 044 C/R/W, MS 440 Magnum/Arctic (50mm) w/ METEOR Piston | eBay
  19. That could be an idea. Just sending the carb and trying it a working saw. Will sort something out with newhaven, might have a chat with the lifeboat station and see if they can take the box and send it on.
  20. Shame. You could have sent it over here for that and probably had it fixed. But then the 200t is always worth there weight as spares.
  21. It all depends on what the cat write off is. Selling most of the bits for spares is no worry, just not the chassis or structural parts if memory serves me. But if its the right category as fixable then you can fix it up, get it tested and away you go. Always worth finding out the buy back value as they normally ask for scrap value.
  22. Buy back the warrior and fix it. If its not too written off.
  23. Ok garden kit and eddy. I will try both. It's a new engine so not really willing to start stripping it all down as under warranty. Just annoying. I did think about valve clearence but dismissed it as the problem, will check them now and try and find the spec for them. Picked up an echo saw tonight on way home. Started it up and its running fast idle. Pull throttle and it dies out. Not looked at it because I'm home and can't be bothered as yet. It has been to a dealer and they have said the wrong fuel has been used, I'm thinking different as the owner of saw is not stupid. So going to reduce the idle speed and clean out and check the carb as first try, while I'm there will vac/pressure test aswell. He wants me to do a full report on it so he can try something with the dealer. Not sure what he will achieve but them he his Irish (nice bloke but the way) Garden kit, I'm looking for a service kit for a Briggs and Stratton 20hp engine. Oil, fuel, filter etc.
