  1. As an indicator I am considering putting my nice, hardly used ms200 rear handle on as I could do with some cash. I have been watching all of the ones that have been listed over the past three weeks and none of those have gone for less than £200 and the majority have gone for somewhere between £230 and £270. The 200T is more desireable, but there are a lot more of them offered used, so the price they acheive reflects that.
  2. Wouldn't bother with a reserve and save a fortue in fees- stick it on at a 99p start and you will easily achieve at least the figures mentioned above day in day out.
  3. I think if you took the trouble to read the first paragraph instead of just trying to be funny, you will note I have listed several of the key considerations.
  4. It would appear the saw stalls when the chainbrake is deactivated (off) rather than activated.....or that's how I read his question anyway.
  5. All of this is a bit pointless unless the OP is more specific regarding their budget, the features they require and the type of use it is going to get etc etc. I can go on all day about suggesting lawnmowers, but if 90% of them are more than the OP is willing to pay etc then it's a waste of time. I have over 70 different mowers on display in my showroom that would take all day to go through. When a customer wants assistance, I need to ask relevant questions and/or the potential buyer to give me some indicators as to his requirements then I stand a fighting chance of not wasting his or my time.
  6. If I don't have what you need off the shelf, then I receive 3 deliveries a week Mon-Fri, so at least every other day in other words. Seems to be perfectly quick enough even for those who want something yesterday.
  7. ?????????????????
  8. If it has a silver FOIL sticker, then it is a fake MS440. STIHL warns about imitations | STIHL
  9. "I Believe all MS Stihl saws will have the black and white flippy caps and NOT the black screw in ones! I think the change happened around 2001 but some of the Stihl techs may know the exact date" The Stihl MS650/660 models still retain the screw in caps. The metal riveted ID plates were discontinued in the early 90's and were replaced with a similar shaped plate, but was of light grey plastic and was retained blindly by two plastic legs on the underside of the plate. This has continued almost unchanged (with exception to the size) up until present day. Never seen a UK designated MS440 with a steel/chromed ID plate to be honest.
  10. As the first person to ask that question and not receive an answer, I gave up trying to help.
  11. Tell me- do you take it out on the auctioneer if he is given something that is rare, maybe because it was in short supply to auction and it goes for some incredible amount of money to a winning bidder who is prepared to pay for the privilege of owning it? NO.
  12. I haven't set the price- my market has that's the difference.. The customers are offering me more than I was originally asking. Are you seriously suggesting I turn down nearly £180 more than I would normally get if people are happy to do so? I don't think so matey boy.
  13. Nothing like that example at all.
  14. Well you might find it hard to believe, but I can assure you- believe it or not- it's true.
  15. What's that got to do with anything? That's why it's called a RECOMMENDED retail price. Doesn't take into account market forces, supply and demand etc.
  16. Nope. Last week i had two customers in at the same time- both rang and said they were travelling a fair distance as they had heard I has some left. Up until then I was selling at full retail with no discount, however these two arrived pretty much at the same time and whilst one was happy to pay full retail the other overheard and offered more- eventually getting to £850..00 inc vat. He's vat registered so he saves the vat. Sold the other guy one for the same price and they have both since sent colleagues in a the price my market has seemingly fixed. The remainder shouldn't last long from what I am experiencing.
  17. No, why?
  18. Husky produce a flywheel knocker which screws onto the exposed thread and then you give the top of the knocker a solid tap which releases the flywheel. You can do a similar thing by undoijng the retaining nut and then screwing it back on 3/4 of the way- then using the socket you used to remove it and a short extension bar simply give it a solid tap and it will loosen.
  19. I've got three left. New and boxed (not old stock or ex-display) Did have 9 up until last week and they are flying out at £850.00 each inc vat.
  20. No- pretty safe there! Like i said to him- it's the quote for the labour that kills a job like this. I gave him a courtesy deal on a new MS181 as he loves the machine and knows it was his fault it was under oiled
  21. Just done my first strip down on a Stihl MS181, pending a replacement piston due to light under oiling. Would never have bothered with an 017/018 MS170/180, as they are a pain in the ar**. However as the saw is only a year old and the customer told me to scrap it due to my quote for the repair, I thought I would spend a quiet afternoon seeing what it was like compared to the earlier models. Sure- very time consuming, but a LOT easier than the old models so very pleased and new piston will be fitted as soon as it arrives. Nearly new MS181 for £25.00! Can't go wrong.

    Kony 2012

BBC News - Kony2012: The rise of online campaigning
  23. A "strimmer" is a brand name of Black and Decker- a bit like calling a vacuum cleaner a "Hoover". Presumably you are looking for something more than a cheap and cheerful electric thing from Black and Decker? An FS400 is called a clearing saw- used mainly with a metal blade and as the name suggests is used for clearing large overgrown areas. A curved shaft machine is reffered to as a grass trimmer. A lighter duty clearing saw with a straight shaft that is predominantly used with a nylon line head for heavy grass, but has the option to fit a metal blade for brambles, nettles etc is referred to as a brush cutter. What are you looking for?
  24. Gardenkit is quite correct. These heads are only spun on hand tight so there is no locking pin hole necessary. It is just very tight and when these heads get very tight you actually either turn the engine over when you try and remove it (non clutched engine) or it simply spins the flexi shaft over and over (clutched system) Remove the alloy tube from the engine end and then you can clamp the square flexi drive in a vice- then simply undo the nut. ......or just bin the whole lot and get something decent.
  25. If you can lay your hands on a late Kubota W-Series rotary then you will be doing yourself a favour. Brilliant machines.
