Just my opinion that you are too cheap, for a bulk bag full of hardwwod logs @ approx 20% moisture £55 - should be more like £75-80 If selling by recommendation/word of mouth, I would try for a higher price. However, you know your market better than me so fair play, especially like the way you apply the income to kit. @Albedo - I was making an assumption that it was a bulk bag, but I am allowed my opinion, nonetheless.

Come on Gollum, I made the point that regular chainsaw users should not have to refresh/re-assess, but comparing that to First Aid re-fresher courses is ridiculous! How many people actually get their FA from one year to the next? However, I would agree, that Aerial Rescue should be re-trained/re-assessed on a regular basis - annually or at least one every three years. Just goes to show that many of the so called Training and Assessment that are enforced on people are a pointless waste of time and money.

Isit law that says you have to do re-fresher training every 5 years? What a load of Sh*$e - complete and utter nonsense if you are handling a saw on a regular basis. Just a money spinner for the training companies/instructors and NPTC As above S/e pay for yourself, unfortunately Employed, employer pays course and wages.

Rich I was brought up with Labs, and had friends with German Shepherds, Alsations, Great Danes and Irish Wolf Hounds - so not afraid of large dogs, however, a goos friend of my wife through work had a Rottweiller. He was a huge animal - too big for officially showing, I was very wary and my wife was all but, terrrified. To cut a long story short, we ended up looking after out friends house for a few months and the Rottie was part of the bargain. My wife aid she would never let him into the house alone. The first evening I got home the dog was asleep on her feet! He also saved my wife from beeing mugged one night - what asuperb animal, if I could have one like him again I would trust him with my childrens life - welling up just thinking about him. When we had to move on our 'friend' took him back, within a couple of months he had put him down - never spke a civil word to him again! They are huge animals, and unfortunately like alot of dogs these days, many of them are poorly bred, but the correctly bred and trained animal is a true 'mans best friend'. I personally dislike and would never trust any dog that looks or resembles a pitbull, and that unfortunately includes most Staffs.

Went to Sandringham for a day last year - absolutely wonderful place. Could walk the grounds for days on end. Interesting sawmill there too. Chris

I agree with much of the above, however, David I don't think your damage was caused by dogs, it was more likely casued by the mindless moron chav himself - nothing better to do! I live on a quite moddle class estate in Kent, and this happened to about 20 trees on the green outside my front door. I asked around, but guess what? No-one saw a thing!! Things that might help, are some explanation to these idiots at school about the planet, global warming, emissions and the good that trees do. Etc, etc. Also, Pitbulls and anything that is closely resembling one, or any other type of fighting dog should be put down. A couple of years ago I was working in Bethnal Green, London doing a garden clearance and some tree pruning. The garden backed on to the local church yard and there was not side acess to the house. Spoke to the Church - permission granted to drop bagged rubbish over the wall, and drag out via the gates. Anyway, threw a load of bags over the wall and just about to jump down with them, when a Pitbull in full leather harness charged up. The animal was absolutely psychopathic! The drug dealer who owned it had chained the gate into the wall church yard to stop anyone getting in. If anyone had entered or got in to the chaurch yard the dog would have ripped them to pieces, it was scary, seriously. Animals like that should be destroyed, preferably along with their owners!!
