1. You would only be talking 20 thou depth, you would just tension as normal, the pitch would be the same, this was standard practice when jack was a lad, appreciate there is little argument to support not replacing the bar, but if it's done properly i really don't see any great shakes, unless the new bars are laser welded in the root, in which case i can see it may not be the best way forward
2. I can see it both ways, but I have seen a machine that will do a super job of reworking the bar, and it will also grind the channel deeper, appreciate its a delicate operation but iam thinking 20 thou, thinking more for harvester bars and processors.
3. Does anyone do a proper refurb service for either chainsaw and or harvester bars, i mean a proper job, so re grinding the depth of the groove, as well as finishing the other surfaces, and replacing the tip and sprocket? if so what do they charge ? Many thanks
4. managed to get a few hours to chop some logs it has been a nice day here, managed 6 full metre cube bags in 1.5 hrs all about 8-10 inch dia and cutting 9 inch long, that's me loading and operating, but another pair of hands cleaning up and picking strays and oversize out, managed 5 deliveries but it's going quieter now, I think I have got to get busy getting done timber in for later in the year
5. ok cheers, I did stack 3 high year before last, but Iam outside, went two high this year but looking like Iam gonna run out, thinking next year will go back to 3 high and, I like you use the pallets, cheers for the pic, wish I had more undercover, thinking poss tarp the top at this time of year as the moisture hangs around
6. if there is not one in there u may need to buy one from your local ford dealer or Mazda, if it's not there it most likely fell out when box was out
7. Hi there, do you stack 3 high with each bag on its own pallet or just the bags on top of one another with a pallet at the bottom? cheers
8. Ok, you know the two sensors on the box, when u take them out there is a little tiny steel bullet, check that it's still in there, you may need a magnet to get it out, without this in there the sensor is in fresh air, rfw illuminates and the system does not electrically work as it should, i have seen this a few times, it's easy to do, let me know how u get on
9. has it ever had the box removed, or rebuild or clutch rep ?
10.
Hi Stewie, I would be interested in buying your kit, where u based and what u looking for cash wise, cheers Dan

11. can we look at it another way, what price would you need to charge in order to make it pay, say per 1m cube bag ?
12. The tow bars are made for ford by a company called "Brink" based over Coventry way, they are part of Thule, chap called Andrew George is the MD, he knows his stuff, when you get the kit you will see that all the rangers have a trailer prep pack fitted, so the hardware bolts on and electrics get plugged in, some get fitted at factory and some at dealer, when the dealer fits there is two options of wiring up depending on if it's a led trailer or not, you will be able to source a supplementary kit, should be plug and play think it's under the passenger seat where it plugs in, it happens as the low voltage activity on the can bus is enough to fire the leds, I guess they are flickering ? hope this helps
13. I am running a transaw and have to say it's awesome, the build quality is superb, it's built like a tank, simple to use and quick, we cut 15 pallets of blanks for the kindling machine in just over an hour that's approx 750 rings or blanks, two people, machine set to 9.5 inch, dia average 9 inch, service from Fuelwood is really great, mines electric so pretty quiet, someone has 2 of these running shifts at one large log supplier and Iam told the pile of logs is bigger from one transaw than the binderberger that they also have, I think the transaw will last for years with very little maintenance, it has lots of nice features than just simply make it a pleasure to use, you should get a demo, you won't look back, hope this helps
14. someone gave me a bag, did not like them, after a few days the room smelt like s joiners workshop dusty horrible things. imo
15. ms 250 with the zama carb has a small piston which works of a flat ground into the throttle butterfly, it's an accelerator pump, small brass piston with an oring, kit is about £3 the oring swells and sticks, if you are noticing it stalling and not picking up when revved then if it the zama carb I bet it's this, you have to remove the butterfly shaft to expose this, dealers like to sell a new carb but I like to rebuild them, prob an exploded view somewhere, hope this helps
16. use a fork lift, Loader or tele handler, lift the nose unwind and it should seperate, if not get the disc cutter and cut it through, will seperate then
17. Hey, well I spoke to Hmrc today... quick conversation pointed them to the different sections, recorded call on their system 5% based on route we have discussed here, although did suggest I could get it in writing, but would have to apply in writing, the nice lady did say that if I can show compliance with the different sections then that's usually sufficient! have not yet decided to get it in writing yet, what you guys think?
18. I think you could be right Richy, last year they told me 20 % after I put it to them as you have above ref 3.2.2 they agreed 5% I will see if they will email me the interpretation, thanks for the input, not the most interesting topic I appreciate. currently I charge 5%, cheers
19. Thanks all, some really useful info, will be really interested to bottom this out as there is so many different views, section 7 The reduced VAT rate applies to supplies of coal, coke and other solid combustible materials for a qualifying use (see Section 3) provided: you hold them out for sale solely as fuel and they are offered in a form and at a price that is compatible with their being sold as fuel key for me is qual use section 3 business is not qualified use, also if u undercharge u may have to make up the shortfall 3.1 What is ‘qualifying use’? Qualifying use means: domestic use (see paragraph 3.2), or charity non-business use (see paragraph 3.3). If you apply the reduced rate to supplies of fuel and power incorrectly and cannot satisfy us that you have taken reasonable steps on these points, you may have to pay any VAT that you have undercharged. 3.2 What is ‘domestic use’? 3.2.1 Supplies for domestic use Supplies of fuel and power for genuine domestic use are eligible for the reduced rate. The provider must be certain that the supply is to a dwelling or certain types of residential accommodation. Examples of allowed residential accommodation are: armed forces residential accommodation caravans children’s homes homes providing care for - (a) the elderly or disabled(b) people with a past or present dependence on alcohol or drugs© people with a past or present mental disorder houseboats houses, flats or other dwellings hospices institutions that are the sole or main residence of at least 90% of their residents monasteries, nunneries and similar religious communities school and university residential accommodation for students or pupils self catering holiday accommodation The following are treated as part of the same residential unit: buildings such as garages used with houses subsidiary buildings situated a short distance away, such as a garage in a block located away from a house corridors, lifts, hallways and stairways in a residential unit The following are not considered residential accommodation for the purposes of fuel and power: hospitals prisons or similar establishments hotels, inn or similar establishments
20. Hey all from Apr 2016 looks like the rules may have changed, I discussed this last year with hmrc and we agreed selling firewood to public houses would be 5 % rated based on the volume and the fact they are not selling on, however I just did the same exercise and have to say I did not arrive at the same conclusion as it says inns are not residential so don't qual for the lower rate, I will try and speak to them tomorrow but in the meantime what's everyone else charging or more importantly what's the correct rate to apply ? cheers
21. another vote for bfg atko or think they do the atko2 now, last well, good grip and snow peak marked, nice and progressive, quieter than anything else, really super tyre
22. ok if labour was £1.22 a day ! which is what radio 4 advised was the labour rate in India for factory work!
23. This lot took me 3 hrs to cut split and stack, 500mm long 6 ft high and 5 m long, all good fun !
24. thanks chris, what length to you cut the sticks to? I was watching the posch lads at apf they were cutting to about 6-7 ins and he was lightly kicking the bag as it filled up, I know people have suggested a ladder with the bags hanging in the opening formed by the rungs, we have the neat netts sorted they look good been doing them like that for the last 3 years but they take lots of time, Iam thinking I have to be able to do this quicker, my machine is set to 10 inch so rings are about 9 ins, thinking if I sleeve it down to 6 things may get easier but them again they may not, prob just end up with a set of different issues to resolve! you are right about wastage doing neat netts, and like you say it's important the nets full, I dry the kindle before I bag it, otherwise find it shrinks as it dries and does not look as full, all good fun though
25. anyone got one for sale? thinking it could make my life easier, but could be wrong! may also need a sleeve kit for a splitta 360 - WHY many thanks
