1. Saw this running at the open day at Fuelwood, seriously this is a versatile machine and talk about regular size logs, then the chap moved the adjuster in about 2 seconds and it's making kindling, looks super strong, i have seen a video of this but when you see it working for real its impressive
2. Just been to the Fuelwood open day, really amazing range of kit, really impressed with the layout in the woods, the new transaw is just a monster, it has some serious output, and the logs were better than i have seen before, this new splitting knife it looks awesome, it's very clever, i got talking to one of the chaps and he explained all about it, i want one now, i think that the bigger logs you tend to get when on bigger diameters are a thing of the past, would be interested to see other pics of any unusual variations that people have got to work and maybe some that did not work !
3. It's not far from me, happy to buy it, we can both go and collect, in fact i bet i could find a few people to come along to help load !
4. Cheers woody, good call, had to sell my Stenner 42, gutted, just getting back to a position to purchase something as a substitute. cheers
5. Iam Looking for a mobile mill, along th lines of Woodmizer, timber king etc, iam thinking more affordable used and will get more spec, its only really going to be used weekends, i always where possible try and go for bigger and the best quality kit as i have been burned before buying cheaper stuff that just does not do the job, does anyone know of any used kit for sale ? most of the timber i will initially be cutting will be sourced from my firewood loads which seem to have some good straight bits of timber amongst them, iam thinking hydraulic and like i say mobile, other than that open to suggestions, dont know if 5-7k would be enough, i could go higher but dont really want to go much over 12k + vat, any ideas greatly appreciated - cheers
6. we use 60x40 cm from bag supplies, simon is helpful and price is ok, quality is good, we olly do about 5000 a year so not big numbers but still does a decent deal
7. i sell loads of these, charge 25 plus vat, quick as anything to fill up, bags on rotation, pubs love it 👍
8. Yes they are 5w30, the formula f is blended by castrol for ford, the formula f is golden, the castrol is dyed green, but essentially the same product as far as i know
9. I can vouch for murex, i run a transmig murex 450, bought used with all new parr torch 250 amp (more manageable than a larger torch but just watch how hot it gets), wire, helmet, bags of tips and shrouds for £800 from a dealer appreciative of the fact it's a 3 phase machine, but you really can weld anything from 0.5mm sheet upto inch plate, the welds can look like tig and iam not a pro welder, i do like to get it turned up on some nice clean thick stuff, hope this helps
10. We have two of these 2.2 rangers, first one gets driven hard as possible everywhere, full throttle just about everywhere and only ever 5 mile max journey it's done 80k that returns 24, the other is driven normally and gets 32 and has done 40k with 15 mile journeys , we obviously get slightly less if towing especially if close to the full 3500kg, they both run well on the new Ford Castrol fuel economy engine oil, we use JacksonsFord in Henley for all the service work, they are spot on, defo saw the economy improve once they serviced all the oils and set up the rear brakes, they also set the geometry on a Hunter aligner that made the biggest difference, and there was a software update which made them both smoother, and they serviced the ac too, again with some oil, check out their feefo reviews don't think they are far from you, surprised to see 15 as a towing average though, but suspect you could improve by using the fuel economy oils and i guess you run the tyres on the high pressures, ours our not euro 6 so we don't have to use the ad blu, have a new one one order with Jacksons and that is due soon, another 2.2 but the euro 6 engine so another 10 bhp but ad blue will be needed, be interested to see how that goes.
11. I have been using a 576 for a few weeks, it's nice, also have 441 similar to the husqvarna in terms of capability just different in terms of where the power is, have to say i like the 660, bit heavier but a nice torquey power del. is steady and it seems unstoppable, not as nimble as the others, but guess u cannot have it all
12. I also would be interested if anyone has such spec, based midlands ! PM me, sorry to hijack but the thought of that nice straight timber is just too much !
13. One of the best Imo, does need to be dry, prob won't be dry especially if it's a reasonable dia, i think the calorific value is better than oak, dries well once split, very dense wood, one of the lads asked what tree these yellow logs were from, i told him banana trees, can you not tell by the colour ! priceless
14. The mrs usually does this, prob got a load of cloth wrapped around the pulleys, just knock the deck off and unwind it, you may need some new belts, it shakes usually coz a pulley is stuck, you can buy a more powerful tractor but the damage gets more and harder to sort out, have managed to explain that it's best to disengage the blades before driving over the gravel drive, had to replace seven windows all with bullet holes, was considering borosilicate glass, but much easier to do it myself, cannot knock her for getting stuck in tho
15. Another vote for fuelwood, the transaw is awesome, it's not a throw away machine, last forever and device is super, i think they have a used one for sale
16.
Hi, i have a 13 ton thor, it's petrol subaru engine, has every option and has the double pump, i only have done about 3 days work with it, i would sell it to get some space back, let me know if interested, cheers Dan

17. i had face ache, just brilliant, 👍 cheers for that
18. Fast forward to about 1.35, can anyone relate to this ?
19. X27 here, almost like it punches above it weight, thinks it's very slippery as it splits through the timber, iam sure brucks etc are more lustrious but as a tool x27 is an effective weapon of choice
20. I really like that thought, i just don't know how knackered it's going to be, buying a saw like that from a pawn shop makes me cringe, i mean look at the state of it, still you could be right if it runs up ok then i will run it a while and see is there anything else to look out for
21. I have not measured a bar so it's all a bit finger in the air, should know better really, the machine can grind whatever it's just a case of working out what's acceptable
22. cheers for that, i like the thinking, it will not see huge amounts of use but iam looking forward to striping it down and sorting it out
23. Thanks for that, it looks a bit rough but i think it will clean up ok, do these have the nylon bearing cage on the mains ? i have heard they are a pretty decent saw once sorted, is the gen 1 a bad thing ? cheers
24. I have today purchased a 576 xp have not seen it in the flesh so always exciting to see what turns up, it was not much, it looks like it's an autotune as it has no mixture screw holes on the starter side, i don't now much about them, iam thinking if it runs ok to get my local dealer to plug it up and see how many hours it's done etc etc, question is how many hours do you think they should be good for ? if it's a rebuild job and looks like it's got the bones of a decent saw then it maybe worth rebuilding does anyone know of anyone who would fiche it? iam sure it will need a good going over 🙈
