  1. My neighbours are these "too much bling" people - never seem to go out to work, use the black Disco 3 with black windows for making important phone calls etc. I'm looking forward to the Disco giving them trouble
  2. That looks fantastic. I've done bodies with my work mate on his tipper trucks, with high drop sides and back and canopy. The ally planks at the time were reasonably inexpensive, but even so, with the £900 cover etc, and our labour, the total must have come in at something like £1500. The signwriting looks good too..... shame they got your mobile number wrong.... HA, made you look
  3. It's all pants though, really. There ain't no fat on me, yet I have a BMI of 24. My Mrs has more fat than me, and far less muscle, yet her BMI is 18!
  4. I went over 1000 ages ago
  5. :thumbup1:Hey Ed, that's brilliant. Thank you Recorded Iron Maiden gig from the tele last night for daughter to enjoy today. She plays guitar and fortunately has the right musical influences. Unfortunately it made for differences of opinion in her band at school and she called it a day. Starting college after the summer hols and she'll be getting another band together then. Proudest moment was when she performed at the Sounds of the City concert here in Brighton last year - they had such a fantastic reaction from the crowd, what with being girls in a a proper rock bank and not trying to emulate some chart pop crap! I'm so glad she loves guitar as it gives my Ibanez RG550 a proper work out
  6. Have a look at ones made by Midland. They're all good.
  7. My 16 yr old daughter's favourite track at the moment [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yc97ihiJ1IQ]Steve Vai / Firewall / - YouTube[/ame] I'm so pleased my kids aren't into all the chart crap that's going around at the moment. And last night they were enjoying Kenny Rogers "Lucille"!
  8. 'ere, i've had a thought.... have you tried speaking to the company you are working for? What margin are they putting on? Is their margin REALLY the reason why they're not winning tenders? Or is it that the jobs they're tendering for already have someone lined up to do them?
  9. I got mine for free when I ordered a Silky Zubat from Abbey, and the offer still seems to be on. From the Silky page on Abbey: "Exclusive Offer to Our Customers! 10. Don't take all the old concrete out - use a kango. Or plan post spacings. With closeboard it's handy to get a few arris rails longer than you need so you can put a bit of a bigger bay in at one end, or cut down to make a shorter bay, so you can dodge the places where the existing posts were.
  11. 25kg bags ballast, £1.50 each so for 4 bags is £6 25kg bag cement, £5.00, so 1 bag £5.00 £11 for materials for what is effectively 5 bags postcrete Compared with buying 5 bags of postrete for £25. Assume 10 holes, so 20 bags of materials - mix yer own £44, postcrete £100. But add on the agro and time of taking the mixer to the job, unloading it, needing electrickery, mixing up, cleaning up, loading it back on the truck again, and it's pointless for the sake of £56. Getting ballast loose makes it a bit cheaper, but then there's the agro of loading it on the truck, shoveling it, and all that jazz.
  12. You can reduce the amount you use by whacking a fair amount of the old concrete in with it. This also reduces the amount of waste you have to take away.
  13. We use it all the time for fences. It's certainly NOT cheating. As said, while the materials cost is higher, the labour cost is MUCH MUCH lower. And provided it's used properly - i.e. big enough hole, postcrete all around the post, CORRECT amount of water - then it's good. The "correct amount of water£ part is where many people balls it up. Not enough water means it won't go off properly, and too much water weakens the concrete. It also produces far less mess on site - again time saving. Even for very long runs like we often do, postcrete saves on costs.
  14. Out of interest, what are you classing as "expensive"?
  15. The problem is to do with some O2 phone numbers not registering on the O2 network. Mine is down - no calls, no text - but my wife's phone is fine as is my daughter's. We're all O2. Getting annoyed now, as my phone was ok yesterday afternoon and has somehow dropped off the system overnight!
  16. Ta Craig. Soon as I find what I'm looking for, I'll post thoughts on it here. Today I was working in the rain in a sopping wet soft-shell with a boogered zip!
  17. It's because the jetstream has been forced south. It should be somewhere over Iceland, but is currently over Spain and, as a consequence, we are getting te sort of weather that Iceland would have this time of year. Sweet. Explanation: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-18783422
  18. Really bad news Justin. If I, and I'm sure everyone else, notice anything suspicious, I'll let you know.
  19. Weird, I was out walking the other day and found a Vibram heel half way across a muddy field! I picked it up and stuck it on a gate post.
  20. How long? Re the bog roll - slightly crisp is better than too soft. First wipe - 3 sheets, second wipe - 3 sheets, final polish - 2 sheets. Seems to work well and is compatible with all climbing techniques as far as I can tell.
  21. ANY reply tells them they have a valid phone number and that the person they are texting reads the texts..... so the number will get sold on to more firms. The only thing I do is add the number to my 'block' list so they just bounce. HOWEVER, when I was at my workmate's house a few weeks back, a company called his number regarding getting a refund on all of his PPI payments. I took the call, said I was interested in finding out more as I had been paying PPI on a £7m loan secured against my castle in Scotland, and that my gardener was paying PPI on loans of £1.5m for gardening equipment. I got put through to several very helpful people, and as it was getting juicy my workmate came rushing through, banging stuff about, shouting his head off at me for stealing his guns.... making sounds like a big punch up.... The phone was going "hello, hello, is everything ok?" before finally hanging up. Did a similar things a couple of weeks earlier.... seems they never get the message!
  22. Thanks Jamie - much appreciated. Nowt worse than water getting in and also being slapped in the face while working in the wind. 'tis good to hear first hand experience
  23. Apart from some weird sh1t that's kicked off over the past few months, I'm physically fitter and stronger, with more stamina and mental strength that I've ever had before. I'm 45. Far better than I was at 20.
  24. Yep, I've crossed the Pulsarail off my list. Love the idea of the Harkie smock, BUT I really need a hood and it hasn't got one which is a pity. Same for the Stein. Thinking the HH might be the one I end up with. Then I keep thinking about the kayaking spray smocks/cags - Nookie do a brilliant one, the Pathfinder - proper sealed cuffs etc....hmmmm. In red will show up well, and I could add reflective tape! Decisions decisions
  25. Yep, you're right. And I've been really pleased with the Helly work trousers... last me ages and ages, wearing 5 or 6 days per week, with loads of heavy use. I tried to skimp a while back and bought a pair of Strauss trousers that looked like rags in double quick time!
