Bonsoir, Very well done for passing, I read your interesting posts of achievements & adventures. At your age, this is to be congratulated, very well done & I wish you every success for the future. Incidentally squadies dont drink like submariners! Bon chance et bon courage! N
  2. Hi all, OK, this is a guess, but what could have happened is that the site authors may have written an insecure Java script. Java is notorious for being compromised & the 10 year old Romanian hackers (?) have just injected some bad links to the malware slinging site they want to redirect traffic to etc. PM me the site URL & Ill check it out & contact the host to sort it (been doing this for years) N
  3. Agreed (almost) & you will still be using it in 6 years time, 'No viruses' certainly no x86 based viruses, but there are attack vectors for the Mac, I would say almost none, the are a few Trojans but require user intervention to install them - this usually comes in some form of social engineering - install this to view.... However, the good news is the fairly robust Sophos Antivirus is free for Macs: Mac Antivirus | Free Antivirus for Mac Tool Download | Sophos Whilst on the security front, the utility 'little snitch' (which I use in addition to a hardware firewall) this rather good program intercepts & alerts outgoing communication & advises with an allow or deny see Little Snitch N
  4. Hmm, by this do you mean 3.5" floppy? thats long gone, but you may be able to get a USB connected one. I would just download the drivers for your HP printer, have a poke around their support site they still have the drivers for LaserJet 4 & 5s etc. If you cant find it post the model, I may have them. N
  5. Hi Why not just have a pic of you working, your biz name & address & phone numbers, qualifications & a bit of text about what you do etc. very simple to produce, I will happily assist if other offers dont result in anything. "under construction" is somewhat dated, so I would avoid that. Good luck N
  6. Hi It all depends what you want to use it for but if you dont then your wife/girlfriend or kids will soon start. The iWork app with Pages, Numbers & Keynote are the equivalent of Word, Excel & Powerpoint & open all types of MS extensions including those .docx files as a lot of Word users dont set the default file format to .doc (annoying if you dont have the latest version of Office & have to download the viewer) N
  7. Hi Theres a lot of nonesense on the Internet about dieting, its important to not only loose weight but eat stuff that keeps you healthy. Try LIVESTRONG.COM - Lose Weight & Get Fit with Diet, Nutrition & Fitness Tools | LIVESTRONG.COM theres smartphone apps to record your weight & what you eat N
  8. Hi, @ DN22 That lease plan sounds like a good idea, I sold my old MacBook after 6 years service & still got around £300 for it. @ David, agreed a netbook may do the job, dont expect Sage to run on it tho. Talking of backups, Macs have a simple effective backup called Time Machine which backs up as you work to another disc, this can be USB, Tb, WiFi connected or a second installed drive where possible. If you have a PC look at Two Bright Sparks SyncBack & Acronis for imaging discs. For cloud backup solutions, look at BackBlaze. Some may consider Macs expensive but certainly worked out very economical for me, I used to hate having to fix my own PC, its counter productive & I wasnt being paid for it! N
  9. Agreed, I habitually trash then re-install ground up, but with media less installations you need a bare install disc/image. I think a recent Lenovo had about 20 bloat programs on it, none of which were any use. Incidentally Eset is quite a good AV / Security suite, stuff like Norton seems to have a big impact on performance as well as average detection rates. I wish I had a quid for every time I heard, "I cant have a problem because Ive got Norton Antivirus". Ha ha. N
  10. Hi, Firstly, you wont get a decent reliable laptop for £400 I mean something you can hammer & last more than 2 years, they dont exist it may have the right spec but the quality & durability may be questionable. The other issue is its going to come with Windows 8.0 (to be 8.1 in October) This OS is problematic / challenging to say the least & may not run your existing financial software package. Personally, I would buy a Mac of some sort without a thought. Although if you have an accounting package then it may not run on a Mac. However if you do invoicing in Word & Excel, then Pages & Numbers will replace those at a fraction of the cost. You can migrate your existing installation of Windows & run it under VMWare fusion - I do this for the few times I run Windows, its very easy to recover if it breaks as well. There are a number of websites such as Switching To Mac - Once you go Mac, you never go back that will help your decision Our family owns collectively: 1 * MacPro - mine & nearly 6 years old runs like a dream 3 * MacBook Pros 3 * MacBooks 1 * Mac mini numerous iPads None of which require the constant maintenance that PCs do, incidentally I worked in IT for around 30 years, changed to Mac about 6 years ago, no regrets, Macs are delightfully easy to use. Good luck with your search N
  11. Hi Jon, First rain this morning for ages, went to La Rochelle for pick up from airport & got absolutely soaked! Water storage topped up as first rain since, oh er, quite a long time - one thunderstorm mid July. Starting to brighten up now:001_smile: N
  12. Hi, Looks like a fake to me, as well as the other comments posted, I recently bought a 365 XTorq, I note: 1. The logo is on the right hand side of the chainsaw picture which also looks different to the image on my box 2. The bar comes in cardboard packaging not wrapped in polythene 3. The manuals look different to that 4. There are masses of fake saws on Ebay The saw on top of the box may not be the one you actually receive Fake saws are dangerous, save up a bit more & buy genuine from FR Jones Husqvarna 365 X Torq chainsaw (70.7cc) | F R Jones and Son Just my thoughts N

Bonsoir, hello Just poured the first from a bottle of Jura hidden at the back of the naughty cupboard, lovely but must give superstition a try sometime. N
  14. Hi, I agree with SpudUlike, I would try and obtain recommends & certainly get another company. Regs N
  15. Agree entirely, best blanked off & as for DPFs diesel particulate filters - what a useless crock of **** they are. N
  16. Hi, I have a 365 & a Husky hedge trimmer, if you tried a lot of pulls with the blue choke lever out, its most likely flooded (as already suggested) mine seem to start best if I do 2 pulls choke out, then put choke in & 9/10 times will start on the third pull. Hope this helps & hope you have room in your budget for some Chaps/gloves etc. Bon chance N
  17. Hi, It may be worth checking this out, but this is how I understand it: If you want to work for some one else in France you need a Siret number, if you havnt & carry out work and are injured in the process then your friend is liable. Take care N
  18. Too true, a super intelligent race that can calculate the square root of a tin of beans, along with the optimal size of bean to conform with current EU regulations, but cannot work out how to open the tin. N

Hi all, Having crossed the channel, survived the A3 & braved the perils of the "low emission zone" whats that all about? do we have to stop breathing out & farting to prevent more CO2 & methane? along with some fairly hairy traffic we collected our 365XTorq from FR Jones this morning & I treated my O/H to a new Silky saw as well. Many thanks to those who helped at FR Jones, well worth a visit & nice business you have. Got 12 cubes of fairly sizeable oak arriving soon, so heres in anticipation. N
  21. Hello, Looks really nice place, well done, nice big tree (oak?) to practice climbing skills as well! N
  22. Hi, As previously suggested, dont cut right back leave a bit spare & avoid the use of Arborex as this just seals bacteria in and often results in a soggy goo forming beneath the 'protective' seal. N
  23. Hi all, I think Stihl are trying to kill off the "drop shipping" or similar scenario where dealers sell stuff on the Internet they never see and/or have no expert knowledge in. This is OK for some things, but saws etc are different kettle of fish. That said, I find it annoying to find this policy seems to cover everything, so I cant just order a new chain for example. As for the business users who know exactly what they need & need it fast, it must be maddening. Thankfully, we have good Husky dealers nearby & my daughter lives not far from FR Jones who I will be visiting tomorrow. N
  24. Hi, Dont know Bicentennial Man but Shawshank Redemption is an excellent film N
  25. Hi all, Forest Gump Cool Runnings Love Actually A Good Year for me N
