  1. Or the tensioner stud . Does it go all the way into the bar and not hang up on the taper ?
  2. Mine are Spud ported . Thought that was a given ! ?
  3. When I said " its less sharpening because there are less cutters for a given bar length " I was just stating the maths of it . I don't necessarily mean its better . Personally ( and it is a personal thing ) I use .325 on 50cc and 60cc saws . I only step up to 3/8 on 70-90 cc saws . over 90cc I go .404 .
  4. I would say more like a heat treatment issue . A husky bar for example would bend there and take a set , it being softer .
  5. Odd . I don't have a Stihl so cant help . Never had this on any of my saws . ( had the odd one break but not repeatedly like this ) . Would be interested in the outcome though . Hope you get it sorted . Must be frustrating .
  6. Its less sharpening coz its less cutters for a given bar length .
  7. You will need a 3/8 " small spline " rim .
  8. Magnolia and Cheery out here . Dog put a Snipe up out in the fields near me and the little black and red wood peckers are giving it large !
  9. Could there be a problem with the bar causing the chain to pull to one side , in turn having this affect on the rim ?
  10. Yea . I wondered that . Were do chippers get used other than here that would be economical to export even though they are stolen ?
  11. That looks like a better version of what I've got, does it throw out the line if you get caught up in brambles or snag a twig? No . ?
  12. Don't know if this has any relevance but after the 87 storm the natural re gen did much better than the planted up areas . Around here anyways .
  13. Happy birthday Paul . I too would still be doing my bit for fitness had I not been smashed to bits at the age of 50 . I was ( though , obviously I am biased ) a pretty useful squash player , a 9 at RFU and cricket in the summer . Alas my now 66 year old body ( with all its metal work , muscle loss and fat gain ) can not do what my brain still wants to do . You keep at it bud and you wont get old ! Respect !
  14. I think the OEM ones are Chinese any way . Zamma or similar ?
  15. Great when all costs are covered in the price . Did the driver have a banks man included ?
  16. I would not use anything else but, hey ho , as you say its a personal thing . What was the problem you found ? .
  17. What about an Oregon Jet Fit head ?
  18. We have just had 3 days of 12-14 degrees C in the day and minus 2 at night . Sharp frost this morning but shirt sleeves in the day . Black thorn , Haw thorn and Magnolia in full flower . West Sussex , South Downs National Park .
  19. Only 3 of us . but it did seem a bit weird to start with .
  20. We were felling near some lines and we did not touch them . All of a sudden the line went slack ! Thought bloody hell how did that happen ? Went back along the line to find a big old beach on a dodgy bank had just fallen onto the line about a couple of hundred yards from were we were working . We got the blame to start with but showed them what happened and all was sorted FOC . It was out in the sticks . Just village stuff .
  21. All my saws have Sugi pro light bars I have tried loads over the years including GB , Windsor , Husky , Canon , Oregon etc etc and these are the most hard wearing bars ever ,in the wold , X 10 ! . .
  22. Don't you use the " German prison camp guard voice " with the Stihl bar ?
  23. Ah . Thanks Stuart ... Andy . ( stubby )
