  1. Ok . but in my experience ( 70 years old next birthday ) dependent on the degree of loss of compression a low comp saw won't restart once up to temp . ( just speaking as me really ) .
  2. Yes clearances open up to the point where it won't support combustion .
  3. If I were going to buy one ( I am not ) I would rather they were started from hot and left to tick over for a bit . That way you would know that compression is good . Low comp engine will run for a bit when cold but once warmed up they stop and won't restart .
  4. Ah , bless 🙂
  5. Well I have just learned how Steve does it . Perhaps you could give him some tips ?
  6. Those little fellas can probably fly already . Seen it a few times when I was a keeper .
  7. Been blowing mine out with an air line for ever . Never damaged one doing that.
  8. I can see its a Giraffe already ! 👍
  9. Yes John there was a 200cc arrow but not so many about . There was also a " low " compression head version of the 250cc bike . The lower comp heads had the spark plug protruding from each head at a slight angle rather than at 90 degrees . And then there was the Golden Arrow with twin Amal carbs .
  10. Timely !
  11. I had an Ariel Arrow ( a leader with out all the tin work ) Used to accelerate ( I use the word advisedly ) up to about 72 mph in 3rd , the click 4th and it would creep back down to 65mph .
  12. I had a Villiers 197cc trials bike back in the day . Can't remember but it may have used the same Fanny B engine ?

  17. I expect if you asked AW Jenkinson they would tell you ?
  18. Could be drought stress or moth larvae feeding on the leaf possibly
  19. Yes I have always referred to coal and coke as solid fuel . I just thought logs were pretty solid as well . Unlike oil , gas etc .
  20. My own bed . 🙂
  21. Yes we ( kids 60 odd years ago ) used to catch them and some times they would " shoot " their tails . They grow back its their escape strategy . The legless lizard . As you say lovely creatures .
  22. He had a camo jacket on 🙂
  23. Lucky it did not " shoot " its tail to get away .
  24. Good points made by doobin just to add the reason he was saying about Phillips and pozi drive is the the bits and therefore the depression in the screw heads are a different angle .
