    As has been said you will need DSC1 and DCS2 . For example if you draw a bead on a beast and don't notice that there is one directly behind it in silhouette, you will fail . You might kill the front animal but will horribly injure the one behind .

    The fresh cut face of Alder becomes sorta orange after a short period ( mins ) and then slowly ( weeks later ) eventually just goes grey .

    if you burned on site ( in accordance with official guidelines ) would you actually be breaking the law or just pissing off some one in the council ?

    As has been said you can change to an 8 pin for faster chain speed but , only on relatively short bars . You will sacrifice some torque on a longer bar . I have experimented in the past and dependent on your power head , once you get above 18" I find its better to keep to the standard 7 pin . I have 8 pin on my ported 346 and 560 15" and 18" respectively but the next saw up is a ported 372 on a 24" and I find that cuts better on a 7 pin . EDIT on a 15" AND AN 18" THERE IS NO NEED FOR AN EXTRA DRIVER . STANDARD LOOPS STILL FIT

    Its like " Ground Hog Day " 😁 ...I knew of a bloke who had the largest Stihl brush cutter ( Not sure what numbers that is ) and he fitted a 21" lawn mower blade to it .

    Well that's the thing . With a bump head you are continually dropping bits of plastic . When it wears , and when you trim it with the blade in the guard . With a Jetfit head you do deposit some when the line wears but when it gets too short to be efficient I remove it and put a fresh pair in . The spent lengths are then disposed of in the recycling bin at home .

    No . I cut the lengths to about 9 inches and push them through the head with a tail sticking out to grab with pliers to pull out . So 9" + 9" + the diameter of the head then allowing a bit for them to bend when in contact I would make a guess that the total cutting diameter would be around 18-20 inches , roughly . Where as if you use a guard with a trimming knife in the guard it will trim your line to the diameter of the guard and I think that is too short . You need that motor just at the sweet spot that its working to the max but not laboring ( too long ) or not revving its nuts off ( too short ) .

    I have 45cc and 55cc Husqvarnas strimmers Been strimming for years .They are the best strimmer / brush cutters out there . The Oregon jet fit head perfectly suits the 55cc machine as it has bags of torque and can spin an 18-20" sweep of Deasert extrusion 4.00mm square cord at full chat . No welding of line , no eyelets popping out , no winding on the " right " amount of line . Will clatter down pretty much anything . Its dynamite . 🙂 ( I did say at the beginning of this thread that opinion will be divided ) .

    Leave a decent tail so you can grab the end with some pliers and pull it strait out . ( as in my pictures ) I run them with no guard so can make them about 9 inches long this gives a wider sweep . You need 45cc or more to do this .

    That's the thing . They will always be the same lenght but too short IMHO .

    The plastic cone pissadears after a short time . Not worth bothering with . Its a 4 way head but with only 2 lines in the lower slots . using a 4 way head keeps the nut under flush so you don't dig in .

    Someone who does the same as me ! Also soak the line in a bucket of water . nylon is hygroscopic and absorbs water making it less brittle .

    Opinion will be divided on this one ! I like the Oregon Jet Fit heads with 3.00mm or 4.00mm square line made by Diamond extrusion . Some people prefer thinner line with a bump feed head .
