  1. Just keep the spool in a bucket of water .
  2. I have 45cc and 55cc Husqvarnas strimmers Been strimming for years .They are the best strimmer / brush cutters out there . The Oregon jet fit head perfectly suits the 55cc machine as it has bags of torque and can spin an 18-20" sweep of Deasert extrusion 4.00mm square cord at full chat . No welding of line , no eyelets popping out , no winding on the " right " amount of line . Will clatter down pretty much anything . Its dynamite . 🙂 ( I did say at the beginning of this thread that opinion will be divided ) .
  3. Leave a decent tail so you can grab the end with some pliers and pull it strait out . ( as in my pictures ) I run them with no guard so can make them about 9 inches long this gives a wider sweep . You need 45cc or more to do this .
  4. That's the thing . They will always be the same lenght but too short IMHO .
  5. The plastic cone pissadears after a short time . Not worth bothering with . Its a 4 way head but with only 2 lines in the lower slots . using a 4 way head keeps the nut under flush so you don't dig in .
  6. Someone who does the same as me ! Also soak the line in a bucket of water . nylon is hygroscopic and absorbs water making it less brittle .
  7. Opinion will be divided on this one ! I like the Oregon Jet Fit heads with 3.00mm or 4.00mm square line made by Diamond extrusion . Some people prefer thinner line with a bump feed head .
  8. Try M J O forestry . West Dean nr Chichester . Mark Odin .
  9. City trees it will be the local council . Id tags can mean species , TPO trees to retain , trees to fell ( not often the last one ) Forestry can be different . Its " old school " stuff .
  10. I dunno but could be a " cat " restricting the initial draw . Like having a Jackdaw nest in the flu 😀
  11. They look dry to me .
  12. No , never heard of a deer voting . 🙂
  13. My Chocolate one used to wag her rudder when she was asleep .
  14. Its a Spaniel thing 🙂
  15. There are times Jonathan when I remember all the past 8 spaniels I have had . Like you say , your brain puts it all on a shelf way in the back .
  16. You need to pop some other species eggs in there to keep up with the current trend ! 🙂
  17. Forward thinking . Anti deer perhaps ?
  18. If they are going to be used for what you describe ( checking on your boys ) then yea if its what you do . If they are going to be used for theft recovery , the bit where you say " they can be easily removed " makes them next to useless I would think .

    Jokes???

Just realized , its Star Wars day to day .
  20. Its become a " Bialder " 🙂
  21. There are cones and there are cones . The helix ( buttress thread if you like ) has to be sharp , and hard where it first contacts the bark side of the round . After that it can be tough but not so hard . . If it bites and then stalls the engine then you don't have enough torque . On the other hand , if you do have loads of torque it will churn through , knots and all .Torque is the key as opposed to revs . Similar in a way to a hydraulic splitter with not enough tonnage .
  22. Can't help much but I would prefer the Hornbeam .
  23. Mods , mods FFS .......please allow this ? 😃
  24. I just can't bring myself to do it . 4 degrees this morning but in 2 hours it was 15 !
