  1. I just thought he is going to have to break it anyway to make it the right length so .....
  2. We will all cover our eyes and you count to a hundred ......
  3. I think it may be trial and error . There probably is a formula using distance between centers of drive sprocket and nose sprocket but you will have to " break " the new chain you can then add some tie straps , drive links and cutters with out actually spinning the rivets , just assembling it until you get a suitable length . ( then count the total drivers and write it down somewhere ! )
  4. You haven't lived !🙂
  5. Decimal point in the wrong place Kev ? ( before you go swigging ) 🙂

  11. Might be a stiff tie strap or two or chain kinked slightly . Try backing off the chain tension a bit and see if it runs freely .
  12. Nice one ! Mine had her gearbox removed a few weeks back to avoid just that . Hope she continues to improve Doug .
  13. Yep I think you are not pushing it forward hard enough . There should be some initial resistance and then an audible " click " and the band will snap on . Probably needs to be on the saw to do it unless you can clamp the whole assembly to the bench with a G clamp or similar .
  14. Never liked hard nosed bars . Sprocket nosed are available for your Stihl .....
  15. This is the bit that is frack to bunt . Normally you push ( with the back of your wrist ) the handle away from the saw body ( toward the bar ) and this engages the brake . You then pull it back toward you to disengage the brake . As said something is worn/assembled wrong .
  16. Once I get to 36" I use .404 pitch .
