  1. From what you say you want it for why not get a new cheaper (read tried and tested) 372 or even a 365 special . You won't have the extra weight of the 2 barrel carb and all the other "x torque" ( read low emmision) stuff ? Regards Andy

    Saw

Hi all . I am currently having problems with both my 357 and 346 ( as I was telling Spud recently) So as a stop gap I have just bought an Oleo-Mac with 18" bar and chain. Although it is a plastic crank case saw I was surprised at how well it performed . It is either a 45cc or a 52cc , can't tell as it has no label that I can see but is one or the other from the pics on their web sight . As I say it goes like a goodun .Has any one had experience of these saws ? I have only used Husqwvarna ground saws and the usual 020 . It lt looks almost new, very clean anyway . Cost me £70 which seems to me like a steal ? Regards Andy.
  3. Hi Spud. You seem like the go to man for help sooo Here goes. my 346XP has developed this problem. Work it in average wood for a few mins and it gradually does this - throttle off and the revs wont drop instantly it runs on slowing gradually and ends up with a fast idle , open the throttle and it is reluctant to pick up but eventually does . progressively becomes worse . turn it off cos its impossible to work with . I took it to my dealer who said carb problems and fitted a brand new carb - - £ 140 later exactly the same ! I opened the fuel cap to vent it and it went for a few mins then started playing up once more . Could it be something as simple as the tank breather not working ? ? Regards Andy.

    560/550

After all the problems of stock being returned due to the Husqvarna 560 dying when being made to work hard my dealer tells me he will have a whole bunch more of new saws after Christmas 560 and 550 saws. (I understand the 550 is 346 replacement ? ) Any way he has had word from several quaters that the 550 is "out performing" the 560 ! Anyone heard anything to do with either of them ?
  6. I Find it copes well, it seems to me but then I only use it with this bar so I would not know different. It is a Canadian saw with a double ported muffler and a full wrap handle ( not that the handle makes it cut any faster ) I do have a 9 pin rim to raise the chain speed but have yet to determine the number of extra drivers needed in the chain . ( 104 at the mo ) It is a .404 pitch full chisel and as long as you keep it sharp its fine .

    385xp

Stolen from the back of the chipper one Husqvarna 385XP ported muffler, full wrap handle, 28in GB titanium bar . Sticker on says " Madison Tuned " . Appledram lane , Donnington near Chichester West Sussex.
  8. I have a road towable screw splitter similar to this (without the conveyer belt) It has a Honda 13hp single engine. It is fine on easy splitting stuff like sycamore and faster than a hydraulic one but if you put on tuff stuff , say gnarly old elm with a helical grain heart wood and strait grained outer it can stall and then you loose all the time you gained cutting the stuck wood off the cone.It really needs about 30hp and loadsa torque like you get with the tractor mounted type .
  9. Hi. I am in the fortunate position to have as follows 3120 42in bar , 395 36in bar ,385 28in bar 372 24in bar 357 18in bar and 346 15in bar. sounds excessive but they all have a go from time to time. The only thing I would say is a 576 is about the same weight as a 385. the 385 makes more power soo it would be a 385/390 for me over a 576. The big ugly one was used yesterday on a massive mac in a church yard . Andy.

    What Chainsaw

Only one makes sense to me . Husqvarna 346 XP. I have had two since 2004. The first was the slightly smaller capacity with no decomp valve the second the 50cc with the decomp valve. The only reason I got the second was the first was stolen. Neither have ever quit on me . I do clean the air filter and change the plug but thats it. 13 or 15 inch bar.The best power to weight ratio of any saw I believe. Its the saw I grab every time if I can . I have 357,372,385,395,and 3120.
  11. Hi . I think the fact that they have all been recalled says it really..... Its not ready . I shall keep going with my 357.
  12. Hi . I was looking to replace my 357 with the new 560. I liked the fact that it was smaller and better balanced (or so it felt to me when I picked up one in the shop ) My dealer had a demo saw which was due back the next day. I went to try it and he told me all of his stock, and the demo saw had been recalled. Many people have said it dies when made to work hard in big wood. Imagine felling a big beech or whatever and it stopping as you are walking the back cut round . It is great shame but its clearly not ready . My dealer thinks it has problems with the porting . The husky rep went very quiet when he suggested that this my be the problem . Any one heard the same ? Stubby.
