  1. Spud is right . anyways the bike chain should be tensioned with the rider sat on it as things like swing arm pivot position ans suspension travel can affect it .
  2. Can't understand it . Mine is totally ballistic ! Best 60cc saw I have ever used and that includes 262 , 266 , 362 , and 357 .
  3. Felt compelled to start this thread . Just got my 346 back from spud with all the porting and squish touched by his magic hand . The saw is nothing short of stonkin' ! ! If any one wants their saw sorted so that it runs way better and more efficiently than standard I would recommend you give him a p.m. to talk about it . This is not your " make another hole in the exhaust" stuff this is the real deal . You would not be disapointed >

    Husky 550 XP

There is an alternative - - - - - Give your 346 to spud and he will make it out perform a new 550 for a fraction of the price - - he did it to mine and he did it to his . See the end page of "whats on your bench to day ? "
  5. I would not touch it unless it was a council owned site with someone in charge .Have done this type before and it makes me shudder . They will want more and more done each day with a series of " can you just" lines . I even had one job where we had to reduce a long hedge and in it was some hazel . a huge fight broke out between those that wanted to lower the hedge and those that wanted us to leave the nut trees . Good luck whatever you choose .
  6. i just use an ally or copper drift . Hit it on one of the flats in direction of rotation and it spins right off . No need for a piston stop , compression is usually enough . Make sure the girly button is out though !
  7. Steve . Don't forget details so I can send your wonga ! A.
  8. Stonkin' saw strait out of the box ! I put an 8 pin powermat rim on mine and it goes like freahly skinned whippet . You MUST get one . " there is no sustitute"
  9. Jones is your best bet . They got an add on this site /
  10. Im its owner ( the ported 346 ) and I am totally over the mooon ! Spud is a God and thats the top and bottem of it . End of . !
  11. Gas poker . Thats what I use . No need to split kindling
  12. Don't get a 261 unless you want to keep replacing needle roller bearings ( see the thread ) Husqvarna all the way for ground saws .
  13. I run a 36" GB titanium .404 on my 395 and never had any feeling about it not being up to it . It just seems right .
  14. It seems most people want their ms 200t back . Loads of 201 been for sale and when I asked them they said the old one was better . This making the new Husky potentially a winner me thinks .
  15. Look . The only way is up (pardon the pun )for a new Husky climbing saw and if the totally bonkers 560 is anything to go by it will be it will be exceptional ! Lets face it all the others were pants .

Yea it will be good . I got a 560 and that is bonkers ! but I soon will have my 346 back with a "spud tune " with all the porting and squish etc etc so I'm gonna hang on !
  18. Never broken a girly button but the guys who blank em off bust allot more starter ropes .
  19. I would say take the saw you are used to , if that's your mates , so when they ask you to spin off the clutch and mess with the power mate rim you will be familliar with it . If you got a really sharp chain he will most likely tap a few of the cutters with something to dull them off so you will have to sharpen up any ways. Husqvarna 346XP gets my vote etc etc . Good luck with your course .
  20. Hi. As some people keep saying dry wood is dry wood . If you use dry , seasoned wood as a constant then some woods will have a higher calorific value than others .However all dry , seasoned wood will burn . I might be mistaken but I think hickory has the best calorific value but beggers can't be choosers . Keep it dry season it for as long as you can and keep warm . Simples .
  21. My Hydraulic one is "far eastern" .. It has a double acting ram with a wedge with a cutting edge both sides , anvill (splitting face) each end . 20t force . All I did was covert it to road towing with suspension and road tires. Must bee no more than £1400 tops . Its not as fast as my screw type but it has never not split any thing . I liked the design where you can put a ring on each end so you don't wast the return stroke .

    Poplar

Hi I have some pop , nice strait bits about 6 to 8 in dia . so one slit and its done . well seasoned . Never burnt it before but have heard its no good for open fires as it spits . anyone confirm that ? If it does I will put it with my eucaliptus and cherry and keep it for stoves only .
  23. Sir Frank Whittle was thinking along the lines of a jet powered saw but the war got in the way .
  24. Yea ! double acting piston with a super heated steam feature . I think you have cracked it !
