  1. Waiting to try the Husqvarna T540 . All other Husky climbing saws have been pants I know but somehow I think this will be different My new Husky 560 ground saw is a complete loony ! If the T540 is any thing like as good I want one !
  2. Hi . The key here is what Spud says "aluminium transfere " Don't just fit a new piston and rings without cearfully cleaning the pot . If you don't you will be back in the same boat almost at once . Good luck .
  3. With a screw type Assuming its a clockwise rotation ,you should always keep your left on the ring and keep your right back so that should it flip it will flick your left hand off and not trap your right . Having said that you should only need a momentary push on the ring and then you can let go as the screw will pull the ring on itself . Simples !
  4. Hi Matt. I have two types a cork screw type and a hydrulic ram type . The cork screw is by far the quickest especially on big rings as you cake almost solit it like you were cutting a cake . If yopu only have a max dia of 15 inches it probably does not mater which you go for . If you have a tractor yuc can use then a cork screw such as a "high crack" or similar would be good . You only need a ford 4000 or Fergie 35 set at just over tick over speed and there is so much torque they will spit anything . Regards Andy .
  5. I am a husky man I admit ( save for my 200t) but I have never been more struck by a saw first time out than this one . I revs like a loony . I changed the power mate rim from a standard 7 to an 8 slot and the chain speed is - - shall we say a bit fast . There is a rooster tail of chip coming off. You godda try one if you can .
  6. If you want a 60cc saw there is only one in my book, The new Husky 560 is totally bonkers . you must at least try one , please .
  7. If he doesn't injure himself and gets as far as breaking sweat the sparckel of the idea will soon fade. I assume he is talking it terms of felling and not just walking around picking up dead wood an wind blow ? When he gets his bar stuck and one leans back and or hung up in the next tree etc etc you know all the probs Then ask him if he would consider a deal on the timber ?
  8. When I take mine in its always something he call the "pump piston" It has only been expensive on an earlier 200t that did not have that part that was replaceable. Then it needed a new carb with the bit that you can replace instead of a whole new carb . I know what I mean anyway .
  9. NGK I find are the best for reliability and long life. Bosh are not bad but the ones badged Oregon are pants . I have an 02 Husqvarna 357 and I think its on the same plug as was in it when I got it . Although lots of people on here have said don't do it - - I have wire brushed it up a few times and re set the gap . Ho hum
  10. Yae , like I said thumb nail thickness !
  11. I know this is the wrong answer but I usually change it when it stops running. A wire brush up and reset the gap (thumb nail thickness ) sometimes gives you more time .

I have had a 560XP for a week and a bit now . Its on a 325 chain but I changed the power mate rim from a 7 to an 8 and the chain speed is loony ! Its on a 15 in bar but I have an 18 as well . You godda get one - - all of you !
  15. Good result, pleased for you . Tracker would not have done us much goods though . They took our horse box to pieces one night . Drilled the frame , door and all to the living comp off Got in stole anything and every thing Including the fold out steps the seats the partitions the wheel trims all the tack and horse rugs da de da de da the list goes on . I hate the baaalams . The lorry was baisicly wrecked .
  16. Can't beat a good working cocker me thinks .
  17. I knew that little cylindrical dial with the numbers on was for something ! Thanks will give it a try
  18. I defer to spud. end of . I used a 254 for ever and only had an ally side cover but it seems there were plastic ones. sorry dude .
  19. As I recall all 245 clutch covers were cast ally. Shed loads of parts on fleebay . just type in 254 or husqvarna chain saw and then narrow it down after that . It was theeee bread and butter saw ion the woods when I was youg , about a long time ago . Still a cracking saw though I.M.H.O.
  20. No come on . hes got my vote ! All those chopping blocks all around him , but no , lets give it some. He reminds me of me ! Fit as a butcher s dog one day then completely f---ed the next ! Bless .
  21. Mines a complete nutter on a 15 in full chis 8 slote power mate rim . love it to death . nuff said .
  22. If he is working indoors then I suppose it has to be electric . ( Husqvarna , Makita etc) I have no experience of the electric ones but all my life on 2 stroke saws . If he is working out side , or could, with no inconvenience the get a petrol one as he wont be restricted if he needs to go further a field . just a thuoght . Regards Andy.
  23. Hi . Just wonered . We have a jensen 540 and it drives me made when you are putting loads of brash through it eventually gets under the shaft of the top roller and the they wont close so it wont pull thin stuff in . Shoving a log through of 6 to 8 inch dia some times clears it but not always . I have to put a log in and stop it half way so it holds the roller up and dig the crud out with a screw driver . Msakes the job we are on longer .
  24. Only get a 365 if its the special . The special has the crank bearings and bottom end from a 372 so more robust . The ordinary 365 is not so strong .
  25. There is a 346XP on fleebay at the mo . Item # 110809718253 . Its under your budget so far. Bloke says he is retiring from the woods . From the pic it shows there is a blanking plug in the decomp thread. Easy to put a decomp valve back in - - or just be tough !
