If it was you and you are the boss then you can do what you like ! If it was my boss/mate he would be blaming me for not reminding him the chipper was on !
  4. As Jon says . Lots of air . Be ready next winter if you keep it dry and aired .
  5. Sopunds a bit " Star wars " ? Not sure who padawan is but .
  6. How old is it ? if not that old just take it back . If you have had it for a long time / its done a bit , could be a number of things . The idle circuit is working ok obviously but the other jets could be out of adjustment . Air filter could be blocked . Tank vent could be blocked throttle linkage could be a problem , plug could be at fault , . Try the gauze filter in the carb , sounds like there might be some crud in there . Garden or Spud will be along soon to sort it !
  7. Fingers crossed bud , fingers crossed !
  8. This is what I do cos I got no choice . All my wood is stacked in lengths ( bark side up , like a stack of cord ) in the open . It gets rained on . I split what I can and fill my log stores . Split wood will dry / season quicker than un processed wood but only if you can keep it dry and aired . What I cant store in this way I leave as log lengths to minimize water up take . It works for me but it could be more efficient if I had more storage . does this make sense ?
  9. I got a wonderful wife , 2 kids ( boy 14 and girl 10 ) and me a 60 year old git ! No one is going to put me on the cards , I'm nearly dead ! !!!!
  10. Oh . Its not just us then . Phew ! thought we had some sort of pox !!!! :
  11. Hi Graham . Sorry for you as well bud . I do hope you are right . seriously thinking of packing in .....
  12. Ok . Got 10 chainsaws ( 4 top hadle Stihl , 3x200 1x 201 ) the rest Husky ground saws 345 , 560 , 372 , 390 , 395 , 3120 , 2 x strimmer , 2 x hedge cutters ( long and short ) Heyter 8hp Osprey, Husky 14hp 4 wheel steer ride on , my mate who I work with has Canter tipper , Jensen A 540 chipper and Cub cadet 50 " mower . Assorted blowers and other stuff . Where is all the WORK !!! We are doing a day here and 2 days there . Its grim !"
  13. I think the EPA saws are similar ( just different the stickers ) . Its the California specific saws that are stricter on emissions . So much so that the already " pants " Husky 338 had to have the capacity upped to 45cc to try and get some sort of performance out of it . It was still worse than the 38cc one .
  14. Walnut can be tricky , early sap riser
  15. Ok lets finish this like all the other threads on thias subject . All dry wood burns .
  16. If its the one on fleabay the motor is not powerful enough , and its belt drive . My opinion of course but based on experience .
  17. If you are going to make it like mine with its own engine you will need 25hp min and chain drive not belt .Its the torque that you need . My cone splitter is faster than my hydraulic one until you get a gnarly old bit of something which stalls it . Then you loose all the time you gained cutting it off the cone . Once you get up around 25-30hp there is enough torque to avoid this . If you run one off a tractor then never a problem .
  18. Sounds like low compression . Quits when it gets hot .

    New saw

Yep . Sorted . Mine had as follows new carb and remapped the electricery stuff . There was also a new coil ( to aid hot starting ) and a modified starter pull mech . I think the dodgy ones were all 2012 saws . ( 2012 in the serial plate that is ) 2013 onwards should be all up to date . The thing to remember is ignition is always ON . When starting from hot don't touch the red lever . One pump of primer and de comp in and pull . ( de comp pops out just from compression so I push it in every time I pull it over even if it does not fire. This lessons the strain on the starter pull ) You must set the auto tune as per the book . Do read it ! It is the best 60cc I have used and I am 60 years old !
