  1. AA website still says info coming soon. Just wondering if there is any info available yet on exhibiting, booking stands, pitch sizes, facilities, prices etc for 2012. I'm HOPING that we have sufficient production and progress under our belt by the show to be able to take a small stand there and lay on some widgets for demo somehow but I could do with having some parameters to work to if poss! Thanks in advance!
  2. All things being equal I will hopefully get a prototype in the next week or so which I can test out for basic function. However, once I've given it the most basic of tests, I would hope to have a small run made for field testing. Not sure how far away things are from actually having a production ready widget for testing, but I would like to line up a couple of guys to test the pre-pro's for me. Criteria for testing are: You must be located within easy pop-in distance of me in Tenbury, Ideally within the triangle of Hereford, Worcester & Shrewsbury, so I can come and see you and collect / replace broken ones . You need to be carrying out full time arb work, so that it can be used day in day out in a realistic environment, not much use sitting in the van! You'll need to be able to give it a few weeks intensive use at the very least. You will be required to sign a to a non-disclosure agreement. You will need to provide written feedback [how this will be done I'm not sure, may use Survey Monkey site as it's quite versatile and accessible] I have some other things I'm working on at the moment as well so if things work out this may become a regular thing if we all get on! If you do a good job then you will be rewarded with unspecified [as yet] types and quantities of freebies....! Maybe one or two production widgets.... or if I can't sell them, maybe LOADS of production widgets! So, if anyone would be so kind as to put themselves forward that would be much appreciated. PM me with your details, sort of work you do, what system you climb on, what kit you generally use for rigging and why you would like to do it / what you can offer, and we'll go from there
  3. I'm not sure whether they are... Isn't Stein a Fletcher Stewart brand just made to 'sound' American? Or is it a joint effort..? May be wrong on both counts there!
  4. I should, we make it quite clear that we don't share our sites anymore, it's bitten us on the backside before...
  5. Can't charge him, not unless you want to lose a client for good. Chalk it up to experience and next time make sure you stipulate site conditions when you book a future job in, ie how big a clear area you will need to work in.
  6. Saw this, stunning, I thought Neil Oliver did a great job of covering the subject. Nice blend of nature and history with a good dollop of human interest...
  7. I'm with the Aye's.... If you're being offered one get in it. As has been said, they're heavily regulated now so relatively safe. And now that the days of gold plated final salary schemes are over [which was mostly for the public sector and didn't actually appear that much in the more realistic commercial world] the whole pension system, while making far lower, and more sensible, claims and returns, is a whole lot more sustainable. Whether it can fully recover is another question, but so long as we sign up to pension schemes which have realistic rates of return and treat them more as a saving scheme rather than some alchemy based money multiplier which defies the laws of economics, a basic company pension is a good prospect. If for no other reason than you're basically earning more but not really paying any more tax. Bite their arm off!
  8. Worked out really well...!
  9. Thanks everyone. If you haven't yet completed the survey, it will take 5 minutes of your time max and all input is gratefully received. I'm going to be putting together another one shortly which will look at a slightly different angle... Thanks in advance! https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Klime_Demographics_Survey
  10. That is a funny old size...! Cooper STT is close, may or may not fit, will be a bit bigger than what you're running... closest is LT275/65R18, 50mm taller/25mm larger radius and 20mm wider/10mm each way than existing 255/60R18... all things being equal [discounting additional tread protrusion and apart from the fact that it might foul bodywork etc,] you will lose just under 3 degrees from your maximum steering angle in fitting this larger size. Good tyre though....
  11. Sorry... are they plungers or crutches stuck on their heads...? Someone's been creeping round the weird part of Youtube again....
  12. I like it.... and I know a thing or two about a thing or two... If you do want to try something different then yes, you could use a slightly dfferent font which lengthens the word by broadening each letter, but stick with one of the sans serif fonts, they're a bit more modern which works well with this monochrome design. Try all text below on 2 lines, may or may not work better.... And don't bother with colour, will end up cluttered....
  13. Think the DMM ones are forged, ISC are cast. I have one of the new ISC ones, seems perfectly good...
  14. All that.... Sundays are for being ill!
  15. They are all broadly the same, that's the great thing about Land Rovers, things change, but stay pretty well the same!
  16. Sorry, yes, I got cut off! If you are taxed at 20% and you make a profit of £1000 and incur a cost of £100, you get taxed on £900, but it may be that you can't claim the full amount or at 20%...
  17. Tax relief works against allowance, so to oversimplify, whether you're VAT registered or not, if you incur a cost of £100, you can offset that against your tax bill, reducing the amount you pay tax on, not the amount of tax you pay.
  18. Thanks Will, I'll keep that in mind!

I have a friend who helps me out but he's not very experienced on complex stuff.

Send me your number & I'll give you a shout when I have something.

    All the best

    Simon

  21. You can lose DAYS watching those things on Youtube.... a most peculiar culture!
  22. Personally I have enough tables, chairs and wardrobes.... perhaps if there was a world shortage of furniture this organisation wouldn't come across as so utterly bizarre... but there isn't and frankly I can't see what they're trying to achieve.... Some people plainly have too much time on their hands and not enough common sense... BUT... they do need to be quickly and effectively put out of their misery, because as has been pointed out, we're bloody idiots in this country and if the media sniff this, before too long there will be a mass pouring of treasury funds into some sort of inquiry and review on whether this is a good idea.... it'll last years, cost millions, no doubt make the figures behind the campaign very wealthy yet achieve absolutely nothing... the potential good points behind their campaign, ie reducing land-fill or encouraging tree planting, will be lost amongst a witch hunt against commercial forests and government policy... So, who's going to challenge it in public and nip this in the bud, by destroying what little bit of credibility they might be building up, before it goes too far ...? Just needs 1 good decisive argument from a figure of authority...

  25. Not getting into that game! Patience is a fine thing!
