  1. Most definitely, the 'perfect' scam... Too far away for 99.9% of potential buyers to view before bidding. Irresistably low postal charges with lengthy delivery time Only 1 photo Buyer has zero feedback Dirt cheap, low houred, immaculate and new blades too...! So good I think I'll buy it! Reported.
  2. Alternative... Do you mean your chain is loose, you tighten it up, start to cut and it goes loose again straight away...? A bar can 'droop' when the side panel is loosed for adjustment causing it to appear tight when you wind it out a bit, but as soon as you put some weight and load on it the bar levels out and the chain goes slack again, the chain naturally trys to lift the bar up as it's running.... lift the nose of the bar a touch when you tighten the chain [or try overtightening it and watch the nose lift to see the difference it makes], make sure it's aligned then back it off a fraction before tightening up the side panel nuts... 'S what I found anyway...
  3. Is Gavin a white settler, ie Rhodie, or a native Zimbabwean...? If he's a native Zimbabwean I'm not sure what we can do, we've been out of there for 30 years and well, we all know what Mugabe is, technically we should give asylum to the whole country before he murders the lot... But if he's a 'Rhodesian', where were his roots...? If they were UK then what the hell is going on?! If elsewhere, could that country not help him...?
  4. Thanks Liam... Have to check it works first though! Aah, right hookers then...
  5. I keep an 8 on my harness, with a separate crab on it... Doing my best to describe this....to rig you need to pull some slack into your working end above the friction hitch [if you can't stand on a branch you'll need to hang off a prusik], feed a bight through the big hole on the 8 and then put the small hole of the 8 through the bight and then clip the crab on.... pull the slack below the 8 to take your weight onto the 8, soft lock it [pull the tail over the 8 between the big hole & the working end of your rope] then unclip your friction hitch.... Probably makes no sense but I know what I mean. I love my figure 8....
  6. Quite!
  7. Do the invoices from your suppliers stipulate what actually makes a pro or is it down to interpretation? I would class myself as a 'pro' for the purpose of a top handled saw... I have done competencies in ground saws and felling, I have pollarded, pruned and dismantled plenty of trees using both tail & top handled saws, own both types and I've been doing it for a while... [not sure how long they've been called MS-'T's but I remember buying an 019T new from Buftons].... but I don't have 38 or 39... Would you sell me a saw...? Just out of curiosity, not being arsey...
  8. ... that's not my feet I'm tripping over, it's my massive.....
  9. Although I think HSE state that if you get one of your employees to use a top handled saw, legally they must be trained. Technically I think 'owner drivers' are OK...
  10. Not sure that there is actually any hard and fast rule for this is there? Unless it's changed since I last walked in off the street and bought an 019T.... I just bought it, with money, and took it away. I think it's down to the dealer. Certainly if I, without 38 or 39, walked into a Stihl dealer and was refused a MS'T saw, I'd just take my business to a dealer who was more pragmatic in their interpretation of 'professional'....
  11. Not to mention more intelligent and attractive to women...
  12. Intriguing... what were you importing...? My friends sister's boyfriend as was [phew!] used to import cars form mainly Germany while at uni... used to bring in E30 M3's, SL's, 911's & even a Ferrari at one point.... seriously cool and at the time seriously cheap....
  13. Christmas crackers!
  14. I have thought about this Pete, but the widget is going to be plus VAT when I get it made, so if I'm registered then I can claim it back and then I don't need to pass it onto everyone who buys it. Additionally, I can claim back the VAT on investment which makes a huge difference. At this stage, I'll be reclaiming more than I'll have to pay. In the registration HMRC ask whether you think they'll have to give you more than you give them... I reckoned that in Y1 & Y2 they'll be handing it back, by Y3 it will balance in their favour. But that won't affect me adversely, I'll still be claiming back VAT on relevant purchases so I reckon it's win/win. And it's not like I'll be putting myself at a disadvantage, all hardware is plus VAT so it's a level field. Besides, I'll get my wife to do my return!
  15. Ha ! Fatal! I did that, although I went into a golf shop the other day and got taken apart completely by the bloke who ran it [some south african or something] that I'm not sure I can ever play again.
  16. Nice one, that's top of my list at the moment...
  17. Is OP eye to eye rated? Let us know when you're back, we'll hook up. Ben, and everyone else who has done it since I last mentioned it, thanks for doing the survey. Oh, and I've just had to shell out 25 quid because apparently 'Wow! You have a popular survey. But with basic membership you can only view the first 100 responses. Send money now to see the rest!' Company is now officially incorporated and showing on the register. So I am now the managing director of something.... at the moment that something is nothing but onward and upward. Also started my VAT registration application, but need a bank account, so that is a job for next week.... Cor, it's a lot of work!
  18. Interesting, so which bits of a climbing system are rated for PPE? crabs right? Climbing line too I guess.... Rockin' about video, :thumbup1:I spoke to Carl about it last night, I'm going to try to get over to see him next week to get a wesbite etc ready. When did you say you are going to be in the neighbourhood?
  19. Customs won't be too bad, you'll pay 20% VAT and I think that's it... From HMRC site: All other goods If you order or send purchased goods other than alcohol, tobacco, perfume and toilet water from a country outside the EU then you: •don't have to pay Excise Duty •may have to pay Customs Duty on goods with a value that exceeds £135 •will have to pay Import VAT on goods with a value that exceeds £15 Note that on all goods from outside the EU, Customs Duty is waived if the amount of duty calculated is £9 or under. I don't think I paid duty on the saw I brought in from the US, just VAT, all in that cost £220 ish, with VAT, carriage etc. And I love how HMRC can't bring themselves to type 'Eau de Toilette' and refer to it as 'toilet water'... god love the civil service...!
  20. Have you tried CMI direct? Ascenders -- CMI Corporation
  21. It must be borderline... although in it's principal application it will not be for life support, I think that may be limiting, if it's certified then it leaves users free to experiment with it and, if they find it can be used as life support then it can be LOLER'd with the rest of it and all done properly... I'm always wary of something which states 'Not PPE' on it anywhere in my rig....
  22. Tying yourself to something which isn't tied off is always a great idea....!
  23. Thanks! What's the testing or certification required to sell in NZ? The equivalent to our CE marking? And how would I go about getting type approval or whatever it is...?
