  1. All this will soon be yours...! [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yby3gFKzn2s]Review of the McDillen HB-6500 62cc Chainsaw - YouTube[/ame]
  2. Maybe....! Not sure how good it can be when it has a BIN of £55....? I think even the rip off Stihl's are more than that...
  3. Aha! Busted!
  4. There used to be a genuine Land Rover one like this, I have a version of it on my old Discovery.... ebay's obviously the best place to start....
  5. Think yourself lucky my picture isn't of me in those flesh coloured sequin things they seem to wear on 'that show'... Ref the regs, they're typically long winded, but the closest I ever found to defining to whom LOLER applies is this passage... In black and white that means we can do what we like in our own homes, but as soon as we set foot outside of there then LOLER applies.... I do however believe there's a grey area around this....
  6. Saw this one a while ago..... Appeal to a collector I'm sure for it's 'mint in box-ness', and a good alternative on a mill I suppose.... No chain brake though....
  7. Great stuff, thanks...! Stripped it down and reassembled it this evening, I had got the metering diaphragm and gasket the wrong way round , starts a treat now. Haven't had a proper fiddle with it because it was half 9 by the time it was back together, but on factory settings it doesn't seem to want to idle very well, stalls out..... Having changed the carb gaskets & diaphragms, presumably the prime suspects for this are crankcase leaks, air entering the fuel line or some blockage deeper in the carb. I've only cleaned the top & bottom out, I didn't venture into the jets yet but that presumably is the next job.... Should also be picking up some bits and bobs for my 460 tomorrow, so will get that one back up and running with new diaphragms in the carb.... Ordered a pair of longer felling dogs as well...
  8. Great news Adam.... congratulations! Question is... how many more are you going for...?! Getting No3 ready for bed tonight it was a bit sad to think my baby days are over.... That said.... motorbikes again soon.....!
  9. Have you got a link to a pop tester....? Struggling to find one to buy! The 019T is reed valve induction, the carb is buried at the front of the saw behind the fuel tank and under the chain brake... I can't see any impulse tubes anywhere, only pipe onto the carb I could see was the fuel line....? I'm going to dismantle it again and whip the carb apart, make sure I haven't put it together in the wrong order... I have a niggly feeling I may have got my metering gasket & diaphragm the wrong way round... which may explain things....! Have managed to find the exploded diagram on the Walbro site so will sit down at the kitchen table with the carb while the wife is at work and set about it!
  10. Quick question..... 019T.... Have changed the gaskets and diaphragms in the carb, reassembled everything, all went together well.... Now it's fuelled up, how long should it take for fuel to come through....? I've pulled it over till I ran out of patience, took the plug out and can see / smell no evidence of fuel in the cylinder. This is of course assuming I haven't somehow managed to block the carb during the cleaning process..... Will winding out the low screw speed the job up....? 019T has a horrid arse about face design, to get to the carb the whole bloody saw needs to come apart, which makes troubleshooting painfully slow.... Thanks in advance...! Edit.... Something's not right here.... it's all going to have to come apart again.... Is there a way to bench check the carb to see if fuel will flow through it....?
  11. I think we're about to go to the darkside and get 5's.... Although I'm a Blackberry man, none of the current crop are fully compatible with the phone kit in my car, and there's little choice in full touch, and those things annoy me! Have got a good business deal on the iPhone 5, and the boss wants to get iPads as well.... So I will soon possibly understand what on earth this Instagram thing is all about... I still don't get why there is no way to see the photos on a normal PC...
  12. That's going to get expensive, giving one of them out with every invoice you raise....
  13. PDF's are answer
  14. Kind of, yes. But I'm not a sole trader / self employed, I only work on my own stuff or do the climbing and cutting for friends.... As I understand LOLER, employers providing equipment are responsible under PUWER for inspecting and recording the condition of equipment supplied to employees to ensure it is fit for purpose, and the self employed who use their own kit in the course of paid work need to get it inspected as well. Oddballs like me who fall into the 'homeowner' category are not covered by industrial regulations such as PUWER, only basic law so far as I'm aware.... So on the one hand it saves me the cost of regular inspections, but on the other it means I have to spend double the time inspecting my gear that I would if it was properly LOLERed....
  15. On a lesser scale, there was an interesting video on DMM's site I think, showing drop tests on a rope running through a crab which had been used on metal/metal as well as textile. The wear / roughness in the crab looked minimal but it was enough to take the mantle off the rope after a few drops.... I don't get my kit LOLERed because I don't come under the regs, but I'm anal about inspecting my gear, you have to ask how this maillon got so worn!!
  16. That's a fantastic tool Julian.... my kind of kit...!
  17. These I guess.... 17cm Quickdraw centre sewn attachment sling. It's a rock climbing thing I think.... for connecting ropes to wall anchors...
  18. Wouldn't have thought so.... fine against cuts from smooth blades but anything spiky will go straight through I would imagine....
  19. Seemingly just a couple of young lads who zigged when they should have zagged. As always a massive tragedy, irrespective of why or how.

    New Chainsaw

Really rather depends where you are. Husky & Stihl I don't think can be mail ordered easily, so you'll need to find your local dealer... Have you decided what saw you want, or do you need help choosing?
  21. Could you undo a bolt on the head, fix an eye and a crab to it and then clip it onto your belt, somehow...?
  22. In that second picture is that the bloke at Hertz checking it back in...? They'll be keeping the deposit on that one... Mind you, I bet SHB get worse back!
  23.
  24. Really? I bought a whole chainsaw from Kentucky...
  25. Not enough cider in Somerset to get me to do that Jon....
