Just a bump on this one to steer anyone who might be interested towards the ad....! 2006]2006 Stihl MS460 Chainsaw ArbTrader Arborists Classifieds Only 5 more reminders after this one, then it'll be onto ebay...
  2. .... again... Dishwashers make excellent parts washers.... I'm going to try to sneak a complete saw's worth of parts through when the opportunity presents itself....
  3. Love my Zubat, nice and quick, never had a control issue [if it's that big, use a chainsaw!], only thing I ever find tricky is trying to cut Ivy off a trunk.... getting a bit worn out now so MIGHT have a change.... probably won't though....
  4. Perhaps not....!
  5. Non-bio... Got it... And I meant Boa not Beeline.... not that it really matters to anyone but me of course..... Not sure I can be arsed to daisy chain a 35m rope....
  6. Isn't Baby Bio plant food Dan... How do you find this works... Genius, don't think the wife would appreciate me trashing her new washing machine with a rope wrapped round the drum, I'll do that.... Now... her pillow case or mine....
  7. Today's connies have finally tipped my ropes from mildly soiled to utterley minging, by the end of the day it was as much as I could do to adjust my strop... I'm going to stick my Aeris, Beeline hitch cord & XTC strop in the washing machine..... anyone got any recommendations for programme type & washing powder.... I like a nice floral scent.....
  8. I've just asked for Haix Trekkers from Santa..... Will keep my seemingly indestructable Stihl [Elten?] Forestry boots for the ground [although they actually weren't that bad to climb in today, crap midsole support on spikes mind you....]
  9. My bad, I definitely read it somewhere .... 'crab rotates oddly, clunky noise, feels a bit agricultural, reminiscent of ZK1, next gen will probably be great tool...' something like that...

Just an update to this thread, couple of things.... Firstly, thanks to Steve [spud] for his advice regarding an embarrassing cock up I made while working on the saw.... Having decided that the cat muffler was rubbish and that the saw was hopelessly underpowered, I set about sorting out those issues, carb overhaul, twin port muffler and trying to resolve a slipping clutch.... Everything went well until I got to the slipping clutch, at which point I narrowly avoided trashing the pot & piston by using the incorrect locking tool.... [i'll draw the line at owning up to what I used! :blushing:] Anyway, long story short, the clutch housing was full of sap, oil & years of grime, that lot cleaned out & reassembled and the service to the engine etc got everything back going again a treat. As well as the muffler upgrade I've stuck a pair of oversize dogs on it and a 25" bar, which it now rips along with, while before it struggled with a 20..... Having put it all back together I wanted to compare it with something, so, in for a penny, in for a pound, and I bought another second hand 460 from a lad who services small plant.... Although mine doesn't quite have the balls of the other one [which is a straight 460, not a 460C], I'm happy that it's as good as I can get it with the low compression piston of the C engine. Anyway, the 'control' 460 is now surplus to requirements so is for sale [2 460s is a little excessive for a hobbyist......] I've posted it on Arbtrader to give you guys first stab at it - 2006 Stihl MS460 Chainsaw ArbTrader Arborists Classifieds - but had no interest yet . So just a gentle nudge to say it's a nice genuine saw in good condition, I'll give the good folk of Arbtalk another week, then I'll throw it on eBay.... Just in case you missed it, here it is again!2006 Stihl MS460 Chainsaw ArbTrader Arborists Classifieds
  11. Few pages back.....
  12. The Hunting & Forestry video on the website is E P I C......! I'd love one, way out of my price range but looks absolutely brilliant..... Doubt you'll have much trouble shifting these, even at that price...
  13. That's just greedy...
  14. In that case I'll have a think....! It's not life support so I shouldn't have so many reservations about second hand kit....!
  15. Get yourself something to keep your throwline in!!! I love getting big parcels of shiny kit....
  16. I don't think there's a stigma attached to that anymore Andy, it's just a rented house like any other rented house [apart from the fact it gets maintained better than a privately rented house...!]. Not to mention the fact that many 'council houses' have been changing hands for more than my house is worth.....
  17. Do you just patrol the site waiting for Ted to say this...
  18. Is it possible to convert the ZK1 to mid-line attachable with the ISC Slic pin...?
  19. I've definitely seen it somewhere before, possibly off Facebook... With the best will in the world, the problem I have with films like this is they come across as 'bleeding heart liberal' and that is offensive to so many people... Honestly, I don't give a sh** about whether some bird from Africa thinks seeds are spirtual and that dark foreign conglomerates are destroying her country.... [And I take issue with that too, ALL western meddling in Africa cocks up their countries, including the bloody charities - subsidising public services for bent regimes doesn't help at all in the long term] If you want to achieve a culture shift in this country you need to appeal to the majorty, and this film doesn't do that, worthy though it is, it's a massive turn off.... it tries to place responsibility for the woes of the whole world at the feet of the western consumer, and that's neither fair nor realistic..... The way to change the way we consume in the UK at least is to sell some immediate short term benefits. In my opinion, the advantages of shopping locally for seasonal, responsibly produced food are more cash in your pocket, a healthier lifestyle and a growing economy. Sell those things to anyone who shops and you might get somewhere. For what it's worth, I'm there already, I don't like supermarkets, I don't like imported food from overseas and I don't like the monopoly big chemical companies have over food production. But I don't have anything against GM's particularly and I don't feel I can do any more than I'm doing already.
  20. Is it an ISC version or original Kev Bingham one..? Price...?
  21. This looks familliar Tony... has it been posted before...?
  22. Did you manage to sell your RW in the end...?!
  23. I already have a Croll..... this is getting cheaper all the time....! How can I NOT do this...?! I did have reservations about where the hell to keep a handled ascender during work, they are some big muthas.... This sounds like a good solution... So, RW, dogbone tether, footpro, sling & pantin....
  24. That will be arse, how much was my multisaver, 60 something quid...? Think it's only been used once!!! Bugger....! I have a very short hitch, I use a 75cm 8mm Yale e2e in a VT which is super short, but looking at it I reckon a 150mm dogbone will do the job.... although for the cost of them I might get a couple of different lengths to have a play with.... Might just ask Santa for this lot.... could add a Petzl double handed ascender & Footpro to the list as well, then we'd really be motoring:001_tongue:
