  1. Woah there big boy.... lot of exclamation marks there.....! I'm with you on this one, don't worry about what you can't stop, just do your bit quietly so you can live with a clean conscience, that's the best we can hope for. We don't have long here, might as well enjoy it....!
  2. Mate, that's nothing, I was informed today that the site where I want to put an astro pitch and sports hall has a ruddy great pipeline running under it, in places it's only 3 feet down. The last bloke that hit is was a farmer putting a fence up.... Apparently the crater was like Beirut! It's the uk oil pipeline I'm told and runs from Stanlow refinery to Essex somewhere..... Need to be a bit careful when we start digging out the bank!!
  3. A noble sentiment Tony, but I can't help feeling you're preaching to (in the main) the converted anyway.....(Notwithstanding that the 'preaching' bit is something of a turn off) If you really want to reach those who have scope for serious change, you need to be on forums not related to working with the environment...... Or, without wishing to sound glib, outside Tesco with a sandwich board....
  4. Fair play, that's a thing of beauty.... Not so sure about Arnie's Hitler hair cut though.....
  5. It sounds terrifying... I can't watch.... I'm going to have my children sterilised, that will at least prevent my grandchildren suffering and my own kids from having to worry about their offspring.... To coin a phrase..... Armageddon outtahere....
  6. Most of the Walbro carbs I've seen seem to have different metering arm heights, so it's worth having. GHS sell the Walbro kit which includes the setting gauge and tools for removing welch plugs etc.... not a cheap kit from memory but worth having on the shelf....
  7. Do not underestimate the power of your home insurers. Your home is insured against damage. They inspect and pay out on valid claims. This sounds like a valid claim. They don't want to stump up the cash themselves, they could well go after the owners' insurers. They may insist the tree is removed or cancel his insurance. If he doesn't have home insurance [and many people don't] then they may pursue the legal route on your behalf. Speak to them first! I wouldn't waste my time on a solicitor, unless you've got all the time and money in the world to waste....
  8. Sounds a good model.... I have friends locally who would go for this method of purchasing firewood. Part of the attraction is the 'process it yourself' element anyway...
  9. I've never even considered anything else....!
  10. I daren't risk it Jon, I might never leave..... Besides.... HEREFORDSHIRE cider for me!!!
  11. Come on Jon, we need photos of you shaking your business with it!
  12. So with all my CS groundsaw tickets, could I order a top handle from you Justin...?
  13. If you're turning up at the house of someone who spends £100 on a haircut, a trailer load of wood to keep them occupied for a few weeks for anything just under 3 figures... £95 or something.... is going to sound cheap to them. TBF, assuming this trailer is a 3t type tipper and it's stacked well, then I'd probably pay that for a load of hardwood for my own use and be quite happy... And I'm very careful with my money...!
  14. Just ordered a Zama carb for 020T / 200T from Hugo at Rowena Motors, top chap, good price, can see a bit of business going his way! Thanks lads!
  15. Ah, my question was intended to be a bit more vague, as in private or public sector.... If public sector, you'd just need to threaten 'HSW' or 'ACOPs', and going over someone's head presumably.... If private then you're on a sticky wicket. Are you paid hourly or is it piece work? The simple retort is that it's not the tool which makes you skilled, it's the selection of the tool and how you use it which is the skilled bit, and if he wants little branches chewed off with a chainsaw then you're happy to do that but you'd advise against it..... Might also be worth pointing out that a Silky is just as quick and it's not costing him more money, which could be his primary concern....
  16. 1. Not for the first time. 3. Were they Stihl from an authorised dealer who they had never dealt with before?
  17. Not just me then....!
  18. Ludicrous but unsurprising.... Who does the woodland belong to...?
  19. Thanks Paul. It's the purchase process I'm curious about.... I'll send you a message!
  20. That's a very good question.... I'll award you the other half depending on what Justin says about 39 & toppers....
  21. That's right, for Stihl certainly. Rob's site is the same, I sent him my NPTC numbers and he could then authorise my account to order Stihl bars & chains [not that I have yet, useless me...]
  22. Where's Steve... Steve.. STEVE... ! Presumably you will only send out ground saws against ground saw tickets, top handles will only go with a 39...? Or is there some flexibility on this....?
  23. Like your double negative then! I'm still sure there's 'something' in it....
  24. I stick to Stihl because 'it's what I've always had', I can work on them and I have a dealer handy.... I have an 025, 260, 460, a couple of top handles in non-running state at the moment and a Stihl blower, I'm quietly weeding out the 'other colours' from my entire shed at the moment, namely strimmer and topper.... I have no particular dislike of Husky, my OCD just encourages me to keep my fleet all the same colour... I'm weird like that.... I'm sure I could just as easily have gone the other way if I'd bought a Husky when I did my tickets all those years ago.....
  25. I think it's 'half right', no doubt Barrie or Justin can set us straight. Rob can't post out bars & chains until he's had an NPTC number for instance. I think it's the same with saws.....
