  1. I think an integral solution for keeping the water out of your eyes in the shower is s fair trade off for poor fitting gloves..... More relevantly, and although not full of wadding, I like my Petzl Belay gloves for this very reason.... a thumb so well wrapped in goats leather that if you did have the misfortune to find your thumb somewhere it shouldn't be, you may not get it out.... CORDEX | Petzl
  2. I'm going to jump on this thread and ask the same questions.... my old Stihl [Fellsmans] rub like hell unless I put insulating tape on my right heel before I start.... so I'm looking for something a bit more nimble.... and along the same lines I'm looking at the cheaper end of the price range though, either the Oregon Fiordland, Elten Fellsman Xpert or Haix Blue Mountain..... It's a coin toss so far as I'm concerned.... Personal experiences....? They get very limited use so out of the box comfort is infinitely more important that longevity....
  3. NO chance, I'm uber-chilled.... but everyone needs a good blow out every now and again.... I like to keep mine aimed at inanimate objects!
  4. Making silly money on ebay it the moment, bar the extortionate fees ebay takes now it must be worth a punt if you need to get shot...? I would have had it but it's a touch out of my price range.... Nice bike.... I had a hard tail Kona long ago, really lovely to ride...
  5. Go one better and have it printed on the back of your business cards!!!
  6. Still pimping this thing around Ed...?
  7. Fair play.... I think I'd probably do the same, not sure I'd be able to stop at a broken eye socket though.....
  8. Got to have a brain though.... he clearly lacks something in that department....
  9. I do this A LOT... I'm usually a very mild mannered and calm sort of person.... but if I get some piece of kit giving me trouble, I come over all Hulk... and beat the living daylights out of it.... Doesn't matter if it's a car, tractor, washing machine.... [you want to see the state of our washing machine!!!] I even destroyed a cycle pump because it wasn't working as I hoped.... My kids had no idea why daddy was jumping round like a caveman smashing this thing to pieces on the floor, I was like a mental orangutan..... These situations always ends up with me making things suddenly much worse and uttering the phrase 'That's torn it'....
  10. Wonder if it'll make him think twice about doing it again....? Probably not.....
  11. Groundies will never be safe again....
  12. That was AWESOME!!! She smashed a watermelon WITH HER FACE....!!!! I will bear that in mind..... but I think the geometry of using the hyperdog is slightly different....
  13. Easy for us to say the little bastard got what he deserved, and he surely only got half of what he should have, but I sincerely hope it doesn't end up being you who gets a record for this.... If it looks like you might, let us know and we can all start badgering our MP's to nip it in the bud.... Good on you....
  14. 2 or 4 ball.... ? I went for a 4 as it has slightly longer projection to the front, which with my apparently diminutive stature will give me a better chance of getting some draw back on it..... I too cannot wait!!!!
  15. So seemingly no real advantages and one slight disadvantage..... Thought as much.... bought a Multi Saver instead....! Thanks though!
  16. Thanks for doing that Rob, interesting results.....I would have taken part, I didn't realise it's something I could have done even with my limited use... never mind... next time! I normally use Stihl files and I'm always irritated by how they clog up with swarf. Looks like the end of the road for them in my toolbox then..... I reckon I'll give the Vallorbe ones a try when I [eventually] run out of Stihl 4.8's....
  17. Big Shot does indeed look awesome but I don't think I'll EVER be able to justify one for the amount and type of work I do.... A trolley on the other hand..... I will see how the Hyperdog works out...
  18. OK, well I've just ordered one, will see how it goes with an unmodified standard 10oz throw weight to start with.... If I'm as good with this as I am with just the bag, we can always use it for throwing balls for the dog.....
  19. Have found limited availability on Amazon within the UK, around 20 quid....
  20. In an ideal world you'll be fitting your burner on an outside gable wall, so can go out and up above the apex externally. But this is likely to be where the existing chimney breast is. Things to remember are that the top of the flue needs to be higher than the surrounding roof [not sure how much by though, depends on the surrounding landscape as well as to how much draw you'll generate] and you can only have a limited number of bends.... Best bet is to ask your chimney sweep [or find one if you don't already have one], they'll give you the best advice....
  21. Now that looks like it has potential.....

On this [unique] occasion, it was sort of her idea....so no need to! Of course, she may not yet be aware of how expensive these things are.....
  23. Just bumping this thread.... I've been looking at the Rocker as a replacement for a hitch & pulley on my long lanyard. I still have the traditional hitch & micropulley on my short one which lives in a fanny pack, but I'd quite like to do away with it on my long lanyard, partly to differentiate from my main line better, partly to de-clutter and partly just because it's been ages since I bought anything shiny..... So, Pete and other experienced users.... if I'm replacing 9mm cord VT & micropulley on Aeris, what differences / advantages / disadvantages will I notice? The hitch is great, I know exactly how it will react, I can come all the way down on it if need be, it's one handed both ways and consistently smooth... and it's cheap and cheerful. So why would I replace that with a Rocker...? And I'm not considering a Positioner etc on grounds of cost.... Thoughts....?
  24. I can't get on with the cradle method, I either hit myself in the face or throw it at the trunk. I use the 'spinning cat' technique, otherwise known as 'runaway ferris wheel' style. This does work for me but is more miss than hit. I don't think a cube will help, I don't have a problem with it paying out of my storage bag, and friction burns are avoided by wearing gloves, I have the Petzl belay ones which are ideal for saving my pinkies from the agony that is polyprop napalm... I know practice is the answer, but as a part timer it's a struggle to find the time to do the work, never mind practicing to do the work! Oh, and definitely not ladders..... partly because if I was shelling out on ladders I just as well pish it up on a Big Shot....?! I think I might buy another throwline, zing it or similar, and a lighter bag and try the catapult method. It'lll be a 25 quid experiment so nothing ventured really is it....
  25. I waste a lot of time titting around with my throw bag, so I would love to find a reasonably accurate - and cheap - way of hoiking it up into smaller trees, 30 feet at a time would be nice.... Has anyone every tried launching a standard throw bag & line with a hand catapult, like a Black Widow or Diablo type thing? A Big Shot is out of the question but for under 20 quid, if a hand catapult will do it, that would pay for itself before mid morning coffee..... Thoughts...?
