  1. With the best will in the world, you're going to struggle with this one. You're up against large numbers of people who already have some experience, kit and qualifications pitching for the same position. If you seriously want to do this, get your CS 30 & 31 tickets, PPE & a saw [obviously a Stihl.....] and then approach local firms and offer yourself around as a volunteer groundie. At least then you'll get a better idea of whether it's for you, you'll be able to offer some experience in the future when asking for a paid position and you can build some relationships in the industry. Probably not what you wanted to hear but hopefully it helps!
  2. And a few more. He owned a pub and this bit of land, he wanted to grow veg for the kitchen and ultimately become self sufficient I think.... There were a few other bits not in the photos, I think you can see a mole drainer leaned up somewhere, he had a little plough and a trailer as well from memory.
  3. Here you go....
  4. If I can find them I'll scan and post some photos of what these can do, I sold one new to a guy when I worked for Renault and he bought pretty well every attachment from the Kubota price list..... Found them! Will scan them when I get a second...
  5. What about this for a daft one...?
  6. Hi chaps Anyone help me? Possibly looking for some Oak to build a conservatory. 7. All you need to know here.... HM Revenue & Customs: Buying from abroad on the Internet - what to look out for Everything comes in through the Parcel Force / Royal Mail hub at Baginton. Parcel Force will then send you a card detailing the charges which can / will be: VAT @ 20% [not just on purchase cost on shipping too as far as I recall but I may be wrong] Customs Duty - As I recall it was waived on the saw I bought on eBay from the US because it was less than £9 in payable value. Handling Fee - This is charged by the Royal Mail / Parcel Force if they have to open and re-pack the item for customs. This seems to be abused by PF / RM a bit and they seem to charge it even when they don't have to do anything.... All told the saw I bought was £130 to buy and ended up costing about £210 in total. The same saw I think was £360 here. Warranty is the biggest issue.
  8. Bloody hosing down here all night & this morning, acres of standing water on roads, primary school closed, kids sent home, wife can't get to her friend's for cake.... She's just called to say the EA have left an answerphone message saying the river outside our house is peaking at half one, breaking it's banks, fecking great. Again. Going to move the Disco this time.
  9. That's an old Jasper Carrott gag, I think it ended with 'kick his balls... not THOSE balls!!!!...'

  13. Absofrickinglutely, I drive a Range Rover but don't have a pot to pi$$ in....! I think it's BECAUSE of things like the car that this is the case.... That 20 quid was probably her week's food money.... poor woman, Shane, you should have more sympathy for those in poverty!!

  15. Timing is everything, not that it probably helps now but there was exactly what you're after on one of the salvager stands at Eastnor the other week... if we could track down a site plan and exhibitor list I could tell you who was selling it, they may still have it! All I can tell you is it was one of these...! http://www.eastnorlandrovershow.com/tradestands.html

  17. Most stupid thing I did at work years ago was not looking behind me... I was cleaning out the cow yards on a little Skidster M10 [that you stand on the back of] and was merrily driving in and reversing out.... Eventually I drifted off in the monotony of the job and didn't look behind, or duck, as I flew backwards full tilt out the shed.... a 12" oak truss chord caught me straight across the back of the head, which in itself hurt like hell and felt like the world's worst hangover for a couple of days, but the impact of that sent my face down into the loader boom right onto the lifting ring. 10 years later the missing front tooth still reminds me to look behind every day!

  19. It does, but paying into the pot through that particular stream entitles you to certain things. National Insurance is not just pension, it's our entitlement to healthcare & welfare as well, so paying your NI as a self employed person also means you can rock up at your local hospital when you cut something off and you can get income support while you're at home pissing the wife off. Income tax is just grabbing a share of our hard earned, 'cuz they can'.... They don't even pretend to hide it.... even the name is blatant. 'We're going to take money off you purely because you earn it...' Awesome....
  20. Can they not be recycled? I flush my old oil cans, and antifreeze & screenwash containers, and bag them up with my weekly recycling.... not had a letter off the council yet... maybe it's just a matter of time!
  21. I would imagine the dog will not make it out alive.... Not the most pleasant of people we're talking about here are they, unlikely to let a dog stand in the way of some ill gotten gains....
  22. I guess I'm a typical punter, expect everything for nothing! Might drop it in and get it done then, it's running like a bag of sh**.....
  23. I took my Efco in to see what it was worth as a PX & get a price for a service, I was quoted £70 including VAT for a service and a new blade. Seemed quite expensive to me but then I don't know how much the blade was....

    9/11

I was delivering a new Kubota to a customer at Churchstoke, he was an old boy who'd been a very successful engineer. He'd rigged up his own satellite TV receiver and had what at the time was the biggest plasma TV I'd ever seen. His wife called us in to see the news and I spent the next few hours glued to the screen. Still hard to believe it actually happened even now....
  25. My wife did the same with photos of ex girlfriends. And I actively avoided cuddling their photos so I've no idea what her problem was..... Dear god I hope she doesn't read this....!!!
