  2. Thank you for the link David , interesting little geezer . Plenty of big horse chestnuts up here but certainly not in the concentrations of Norfolk ( bearing in mind i only seen a small part ) . I certainly havent seen this locally but will lookout for it . Loved the big willows down there aswell , beautiful

  4. Definitely ... leave the old girl in peace if possible
  5. That its chick below the left wing ?? Jackdaws .. amazing Peregrine.. very very unusual to see a peregrine under those circumstances . Very interesting to know more about that bird .
  6. Was in Norfolk with a fellow arbtalker a few weeks ago and couldnt help but notice the poorly Chestnuts with browned off leaves . Whats going on ? Havent seen it up here ..
  7. Also exponentially consuming more . Funny i was thinking about this the other day there simply has to be a tipping point , surely ..
  8. Thats why i said the rootplate is a red herring i think . I cant understand why there was any rootplate at all because there is nothing there , the ground is just so soft being the only reason . Is there anything i can do to confirm a diagnosis as i will be back there on Monday ? I'm even thinking of bringing in a fung expert .
  9. P.S.. I'm sure the root plate is a red herring in this instance , really soft soil and disturbed / landscaped ground
  10. I would say roughly about 1 meter from the base . Was the only blemish i could see and curiously at one of them white spots . Looked at the merip thread but this tree hasnt tried to lay down what looks like characteristic retrenching roots nor buttressing ?
  11. Real naughty boys them chaps Liked the swimming pool and weather :laugh1:
  12. No snotty black mess or any fruiting bodies at base . Tree was in full leaf but had suffered some crown dieback . Spalting was consistent all the way from top of trunk to bottom and wood was solid . I would have taken the decision to climb which is concerning me .
  13. Shite , lost a months horse logging contract .
  14. Thanks Jim thats interesting , will try and follow that up
  15. Ben , that whats i suggested to the client, ( jokingly ) but it was in a private garden and definitely hadn't been marked up . Couldnt find any fruiting bodies at all . There were porcelain fungi on the upper branches . Thanks for your opinion .
  16. No need for annoying gangster rap garbage background music . Just a good honest treework post from Tom D as usual
  17. Hi-flex have been far and away the most popular chainsaw trouser of all time and for good reason .
  18. Is that how lichen starts out Rob ? What caused the failure ?
  19. Todays job , nothing holding this tree up at all , quite concerning . Would appreciate if anyone could shed some light on the white ( almost spray paint like ) blemishes . Guss109 cutting , saw 395xp .
  20. Speak to Wooded for a completely fair and impartial , balanced opinion
  21. I'll fly the flag for the north east , much much drier than the west for starters !! Royal deeside is stunning , you have little places like Aboyne then into Ballater then finally Braemar which will you will love . Stunning walks round Loch Muick and the precipitous Lochnagar if your feeling brave !! If its definitely the west coast how about landing on the beach at Barra in a puddle jumper aircraft ?? Just be ewe and the sheep there
  22. Are we looking at a gay callamerro look then ?
  23. That the one ' silky fox ' said he would ride a penny farthing wearing plus 4's ??
  24. Thats a real sickener that, probably my most prized / used possession
  25. lol!! how to put a chief designer out a job in one sentence . Well spotted and major flaw by the looks of things
