    resin anchor

Bought a box of 12 tubes off ebay, about £60ish delivered. Came with a gun to fit the oversized cartridges so no problem there. Stuff works a treat, just as good as the expensive stuff at a fraction of the price. Do yourself a favour and save some money. Search for chemical anchor on ebay, loads to choose from. (also cheap nozzles)
  2. And a tyre on top of your splitting block
  3. Good luck with that, always seemed to me to be the sort of village where a few people think they are more important than anyone else (quite a few of them would be on the parish council!!)
  4. Hi Mate That's a great result for you, and also one of the weirdest planning descisions I've ever seen. Might just have to ring my folks up and tell them to make further objections to the planners :001_tt2: Bob
  5. Hi Spud Is there a point at which the compression gets too high? I guess you still have to be able to pull the saw over to start it, but what about the mechanics of it all, will it blow the saw if you go too high?
  6. Got an old Kubota, looks exactly the same as the 350, shifts an surprising amount of stuff, 350kg payload. I'm sure if I got round to making a few modifications I could do a lot more with it. The main downside i have found is it is very unstable going across slopes when fully loaded, but you will soon find out what the limits are It's in the background of the photos on this thread http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/milling-forum/41041-sunday-milling.html
  7. Finally had a sunny day and the time available to do some milling, been seriously wet in the western isles for months. Picked up a small piece of elm the other day, been down a while and was about 24% in the centre. Was hoping to get a small book shelf out of it, in the end I think I'll get a garden bench as well And one I started sanding Now i just have to work out how to build the things!
  8. Just bought a 05 double cab for £4200 so yours sounds a bit over the top to me

    Stump killer

there's been a thread running on just this subject for the last 3 days, just scroll down the page a bit, plenty of good advice
  10. I had a 171 doing this the other day, really annoying. Gave it a really good clean and it stopped, think it was just oil soaked sawdust it was draining from, so really it was my fault for not servicing the saw properly.

    drying wood

£4000 seems like a lot to charge, how big are the houses? A couple of guys up here looking at doing a similar thing, mini hydro plants seem popular as well.
  12. Here's one from last year We're lucky to have several pairs of these around us, if I dropped 3 spruce I think I could just about see a nest from my back garden.
  13. Where did you get the quote from? Seems high to me, would be interesting to get a bit more info on that statistic.
  14. That slammer looks like a great product, just got to find one in this country now.
  15. How about creosote treated, we used them 3-4 years ago so too soon to be sure but it is a time tested treatment. Available from Batsford Timber in Wiltshire. chestnut would look a LOT better though.

    Husky 254 question

Thanks for all the replies so far I did get hold of a plastic side cover a while back and cut the lugs off, it still doesn't fit too well but more importantly the clutch is a different size so the chainbrake still wouldn't work. Bob, if you happen to have a spare lying around it would be really handy. Spud, I can get the part number from the cover, anywhere online with parts lists at all? Stubby, unlike you I've only ever seen/owned 254's with plastic covers, still a great saw wish I had never sold mine.
  17. Take the other stuff out first
  18. Hi all Got given a 254xp back last summer, supposedly a non runner but I got it started straight away with a bit of fresh fuel. Anyway it needs a new chainbrake, clutch spring and a couple of other bits. The problem I've got is the clutch cover is metal instead of the usual plastic. I've tried standard 254 bits and they don't fit, I even bought a whole clutch cover/brake assembly on ebay and it doesn't fit. Can anybody tell what this saw is and the best way to scource the parts for it. i.d. plate Clutch cover part number Clutch cover Forgot to say, the top cover and flywheel cover are both plastic.

    Free light!

Great idea, they say the best ideas are the simplest.
  20. Rob - You forgot to mention your quick delivery and excellent communications So I thought I would :thumbup1:
  21. As far as I'm concerned the only use for barb is to give cattle something to scratch their necks on. Good quality TIGHT high tensile plain wire is just as good on top of a netting fence. Only problem with this advise is animal rights may come along and say you are depriving cows of their scratching post. As from sheep getting stuck in netting, easy, just use 8/80/30 instead of the more common 8/80/15, end of problem. Bob (worked on sheep/cattle farms for 20 years, contract fencer for 7)
  22. I moved up 3 years ago from the Somerset/Devon border to the Isle of Mull, best thing I ever did! Listen to the wife, you know she'll win in the end.
  23. Fiskars X27 from Amazon.com, £51 including delivery and import tax etc arrived in 4 days from America to Isle of Mull in Scotland. Great Axe
  24. Same here, really good service.
  25. Hope you heal quick. Fair play on getting the pics posted here within 2 hours of surgery!
