  1. You're a bad man
  2. Just seen it's tibre 46 oil. Whatever that is. Reservoirs to be brimmed?
  3. Can anyone advise on what sort of hydraulic oil to use? Seems to have two ranks 1 each side of rollers. Should these be full like brimmed? Ta
  4. Yah but if you were used to buying ash beech oak birch syc etc, and you got a load of pop you'd be gutted
  5. No idea how bylaws work. Be Interested to hear more about them. Seems a shame if things like camping, rights of way/byways are being eroded further. Been racking my brains for somewhere to get out and camp by a river/lake/sea with the family in this heat. Not many options unless you like caravan parks. Scotland have got a pretty healthy attitude to land access and right to camp etc
  6. I had a whole winter burning softwood about 8 years ago. I don't sell firewood. when it finally dried out it burnt as well as Sitka, hemlock etc. Not stunning but if I'd bought it at soft wood price as logs personally would have been happy. So you sell softwood logs atm?Could you just mix it in with that?
  7. I have a rayburn which does our heating, hot water (supplies washing machine and dishwasher hot water also) 4 rads, and a lot of cooking. All my wood is arb arisings from my work. We have an electric oven and gas hobs used occasionally in winter and a lot in summer. We us a on big 54kg gas bottle a year sometimes it lasts longer. Out leccy Bill is 75 to 125quid a quarter. Usually by 50kg of coal mined from Alston just down the road per year for those really cold days. Sure I save money, but it is some graft to cut and stack enough logs to see us through a wheelbarrow of mixed hard and softwood a day all winter. If I were buying it in I suspect it would cost a fortune
  8. It's almost better he didn't tell you that! Truck sounds ace. I have just reverted to a mk3 hilux and wish I had never messed about with newer (read early 2000) things. If the trucks a belter it's worth saving I reckon. And hasn't done so many miles. Let us know how you get on with it!
  9. Pics please! How many miles on now? Is the chassis unrepairable? Possible to get one fabricated?
  10. Nails are a definite no I highly suggest hiring a decent 6inch chipper and the m500 or similar . They will be very different machines.
  11. I seem to have enough 25 and 36 inch 404 bars for 084 076 880s and not enough for 660. seeing as i destroyed a nose sprocket recently of a 404 bar Thought I might save a few quid and fit a 3/8 th sprocket. Seems it's not commonly done. Potentially the 880 bars a pretty heavy as well..... Thanks for yer thoughts
  12. Aye, thanks for posting
  13. Yep was thinking they are 1.6/0.63 so should work....
  14. Thanks loads!
  15. Also if anyone happens to have a link for filters etc that would be ace. Sure I can take them off and get down the local factors and get sorted but id quite like to just have them there to fit when I take them off
  16. Ah ok, it has a switch saying stress control on off and the fella who sold it said it was broken so I assumed it had worked. Fixing stress control is slightly low down the list tbh. Might sort it after the chipper has proved itself! Do you have the manual in digital? Or real? Any chance of a pick of lights box. Mine is missing so no idea what they mean other than glowplug
  17. Some are but defs not all. Think the 42'' stihl bars are for some reason. I've ordered a 404 one for the bar now anyways.
  18. https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=%23&ved=0ahUKEwirmujtloHcAhWJ-aQKHQJ2AmgQwqsBCCowAA&usg=AOvVaw0VTJzWxrN8ZFOD4xbU2nov
  19. If stick a strip of rubber or similar on you blanking plates. Will help get a good seal. Donnyboy has a good youtube video of a vac test with suggested psi and timing etc.
  20. Can anyone point me towards anyone who may have such a thing? Or a copy. Or a dealer etc. Ta
  21. Just dropped it in for mechanic to have a quick look check things like that. Any pointers to manuals or people that may be able to help?
  22. Reckon nobodies done that then?
  23. Have to change sprocket on my 88 36inch bar. I have a few of these so wondered if I can use a 3/8th nose sprocket and run it with an adapter plate on a 660 etc. Ta
  24. Got it back to yard seems to chip ok. Apparently wants a whiff of easy start to get going first start of the day ( thought he had said it would start without, but I was mistaken/misunderstood. That pretty disappointing. Measures 9'' across the rollers. Anti stress is knackered. Sometimes you seem to need to nudge the stop bar to get it rolling as it sometimes stop mid branch. Also to get it to reverse you have to lift the hopper slightly. And there is a strange but potentially crucial mechanism that clips the hopper down. If anyone can remember ought about these chippers please help out!
